Salvation (An Arranged Marriage ll) - Episode 8

 

I wake up, stretching my arms but stop when I come in contact with a weight.

My eyes flies open, taking in the sight of Aroofa lying beside me in bed.

I release the breath I didn't know I was holding, for a moment I thought I had maybe sleep walked into Kane's bed.

I gently slip from the bed, wandering to the bathroom and taking care of business.

I bath and exit the room, my feet taking me to the kitchen.

I debate the reasonableness of what I'm about to do and I decide to wing it.

What ever happens should.

I get down to making breakfast, James the butler comes in at some point and he looks surprised to see me but after getting over his surprise he looks like he would faint when he saw me whisking eggs.

"Hello, Mrs King" He says cooly and I throw him a smile.

"James, you look handsome as ever" I say and he blushes before exiting the kitchen.

James has been the butler for Kane's family since Kane was little.

I'm surprised he hasn't retired.

I glance at the clock to see its past seven.

I'm done with the mountain of pancakes and bacon.

I even squeezed some lemon because I know Kane dislikes orange juice.

I set the table, Cash appears first and I turn to him.

"Cash..."

"You look well, not like the last time I saw you" He says by way of greeting and I nod.

"You looked lovely the other night, I couldn't understand why you were hiding" He says as he takes a seat.

I knew he had seen me.

I knew it.

"You sent those paparazzi after me didn't you?" I say.

"You weren't moving fast enough, I had to do something" He says as he pours a glass of juice, he bathes his pancake in syrup before giving me a sugary smile.

The man like sugar more than is healthy, I wish someone would tell him syrup is not food but condiment. 

How he keeps in top shape is beyond me. 

"You are manipulative, you know that right?" I ask and he nods.

My head turns when then twins comes down the stairs.

"Hey Nady" Aroofa says and I kiss her cheek as she walks by.

Aroos kisses my cheek and I try to hide my smile, there might be hope for us yet.

Linda comes down next followed by Kevin West and my eyes flies to Aroos.

I see what she did there.

Try to win me over with a kiss so as to get my mind off the fact that her boyfriend spent the night.

I wouldn't have said anything anyway but I'm glad she thinks I still have an opinion in her life.

"Hey Anadia" Kevin calls and I smile at him.

They immediately tuck into the food,Anaya makes an appearance but my eyes are on the stairs.

"Kane goes for a run most mornings so it's going to be a while before he shows up" Anaya says and I nod.

I take my seat.

My appetite for food suddenly vanishing.

Our conversation last night bombards my head and I push it away.

I try to eat but it hard to swallow so I push a slice of pancake around my plate. 

The sound of the front door opening and closing perks me up, I sit up immediately and my eyes finds his as soon as he enters the room. 

His leaves mine before taking in the glass of lemon, his eyes comes back to me again. 

He doesn't say a word, just carries his sweaty self to the head of the table and begins eating. 

He takes a long drink of the lemon, Almost emptying the glass. 

Pleasure suffuses my stomach, I push my glass of lemon to him, he doesn't lift his head but when he drinks later he drinks from my glass. 

When I've finally eaten the last bite of my pancake and Kane is still eating the doorbell rings. 

James materialises from the wall or something, walking past us to go open the door. 

I don't pay him any mind, I just enjoy my view of Kane chewing and eating what I've cooked.

His eyes comes up and I blush but I refuse to look away. 

His eyes slides from mine and confusion floods them, I turn to see what got his attention and Yoel is standing there. 

"This gentleman called for you Mrs King" James says and I don't know how I feel about him calling me Mrs King right now, in front of everyone. 

"Am I dreaming? I've I fallen asleep at the table because I think I'm seeing things, is Yoel Trey standing in our house?" Aroofa whispers loudly. 

"What are you doing here?" I ask, standing up. 

"I couldn't stay away" He says and he's making it sound like it isn't, I feel my family lock up and I can't explain to them that there is nothing there. 

"You should have called me or something, its very early to make a home call" I say. 

"Friends can make calls at anytime right? And we have to hit the precinct as soon as we y" He says before turning to my family. 

"Hi, I'm Yoel Trey" He says. 

Aroofa let's out a breathy sigh and Aroos looks starstrucked but looking cool, seems dating Kevin west beats meeting Yoel Trey any day. 

"It's nice to meet you, please have a seat" Anaya says in the most nicest voice I've ever heard and cash turns eyes to her

What the hell just happened to Anaya? 

Cash turns away from Anaya to turn cold eyes on Yoel. 

I have to salvage this situation. 

"Yoel, Kane already promised to take me to the police station, you didn't have to come over, I'm sure I can handle it myself" I say but he's already sitting, beside Aroofa

"It's impolite to make a house call without the person knowing" Kane says quietly, his plate pushed away, I glance to see he hasn't finished his meal, I almost want to shoot Yoel.

"Calm down King, you always had a knack for barging into places where you weren't wanted anyway, I figured it's time you got a taste of your own medicine" Yoel says and Kane settles back into the chair.

His face clears in realization before he shakes his head.

"You became an actor?" Kane asks in disbelief.

"You already had the corporate world dominated, I had to dominate somewhere else" Yoel says, he turns to me. 

"I told you we went to school together" He says, his eyes flicking to Cash.

"We all did"

Most times I forget Kane and Cash are twins.

I heave a sigh, wondering how I'm going to get him out of this house.
