Redemption - Episode 36

Lucas:

"Why is she unconscious?!" I whisper yell at James who is fidgeting with one of the balloons I have been arranging on the cruiser boat. I had wanted to surprise Benedicta, tell her how I feel and about why I am pretending to date talina. Who would have thought this would turn out to be a disaster?
"Well. I panicked! She bit me and was screaming and__ arggh I don't know." He yells back.
"Stop yelling! You are going to wake her. What do we do now? I just asked you for a simple task. Bring her here without letting her know of my surprise."
"Boss, it wasn't as simple as you made me believe. This woman is damn feisty. Look what she did to my ear." James says and point to his ear.
"Don't be a child." I say and slap his shoulder.
"Ouch!" He yells loudly and I lunge at him to cover his loud mouth with my hands but I am too late because Benedicta's eyes blink open at this moment with my hand over James's mouth and we all freeze.
"Help!!!!!!" She screams. James and I spring back to action.
"Shhh it's me. You are safe." I try to shush her but she just screams more.
"Help! Somebody help!!!!" People in the port are starting to look at us.
"I should just drug her again." James says and I feel like punching the idiot because Benedicta's screams become louder when she hears this.

. Listen to me. You are safe." I say and try to hold her but she scurries backwards.
"Don't touch me." She grinds out while I try to touch her but she keeps backwards. I keep stalking towards her till she reaches the edge of the cruiser. Okay, this is dangerous. I stop moving towards her and try to reason with her.
"Look. I just wanted to surprise you. Look at the flowers and balloons." I say but she's just looking at me with a dark expression on her face.
"You think I am naive enough to be fooled by silly gestures like this?" She spit out.
"Babe, what are you talking about?" I try to move a little closer and this startle her.
"No!!!" James and I yell as one of her feet slips and she falls into the water. I hurry to the edge of the boat but I can't even see her.
"James! Where is the life guard? We have to help her." I start taking my jacket off.
"What are you doing Sir? Don't tell me you are going to dive in. There's a storm coming and the waves are tumultuous today." I turn to see the man who introduced himself as the lifeguard.
"A storm?! Oh damn it all!" I spit out as I dive into the sea.

Benedicta:

Cold. I am freezing. I blink my hurting eyes open. All I see is sand, trees and rocks. Where am I? I feel water creep up to my waist and I shoot up to my feet.
Shit! The waves must have carried me here. Where exactly is here? I can feel the waterworks coming on because I am panicking here. Images of old me wearing leaves and eating rocks flashes through my mind and I scream.
"No!!!!!!!!!!"
"Bee?!" I hear someone call out and I freeze? Was that an animal? I am shivering but I don't know if it's in cold or fear. I remain quiet and listen for the sound again.
"Bee! Benedicta!" I hear the yells again and I realize it's my name. Someone is calling my name. Someone who can help! I start running towards the voice.
"I am here!" I scream as I keep running towards the voice. I don't see anyone though.
"I am already running mad and I haven't been here more than five minutes." I say to myself. If I could get my hands on that bad luck magnet! I seethe. Tears trickle down my face as I think about what would happen to me in this cold. I won't see my baby boy again. I fall to my knees on the sandy beach and cry into my palms. This is a disaster.
"I'm sorry." I hear Lucas's voice and I know it's probably in my head.
"Now, I am hearing that jerk's voice again. I wish he was the one who fell into the sea instead." I say.
"Ouch bee. That hurt." I hear his voice again. Okay, that sounded real and close. I raise my head from my palm and look behind me. I have to wipe my eyes to make sure this image of Lucas's grinning face isn't all in my head.
"It's me. Oh thank goodness you are safe." He says and envelope me in his arms. I am still shocked so I let him hold me.
"I thought the wave took you somewhere else." He says as he pulls away from me.
"Can you hear me? Is there water in your ears?" He continues and I snap out of my shock when he tries to put his finger into my ears.
"Stop that! I can hear you loud and clear." I spit at him.
"Oh thank God."
"What are you doing here?" I have to ask.
"Saving you." He says and shrugs his shoulders.
"Where is the rescue team then? Where are the helicopters or rescue boats?" I ask and I watch him bite that lip ring of his.
"Ummm no one wanted to venture into the storm. I had to come rescue you alone." He says.
"You came to rescue me alone? Do I jump on your back while you swim to the city or are you going to part the sea like Moses in the bible?" I ask with sarcasm dropping off my voice.
"Well. I didn't think of that. I just wanted to save you."
"I don't need your helpless saving!" I yell in his face and he frowns.
"Why are you yelling at me? I just wanted to save you." He pouts. I bet that pout has made different naive girls fall for him. Not this girl. Or not this girl anymore.
"Save me? This is your fault!" I say and poke his chest with every word I say.
"You tell your bitch of a girlfriend that u have a crush on you. You fire me. You abduct me and you want to save me? I'll rather be here alone that have you stuck here with me." I spit out with anger. I can feel tears prickle the back of my eyes and I have to look away so he wouldn't see my tears.
"You have to let me explain. I__" I raise my hand up to silence him.
"Save the lies for someone else." I say and walk off to sit on an hard rock, with my arms wrapped around myself.

Lucas:

Why are all my efforts towards this woman always brought to a bad end? I scratch my head, completely confused. I look back to see her wrapped around herself. She's shivering so bad.
I look down at my phone which isn't working anymore. It is already getting dark.
  I need to keep her warm. Despite my fears, i venture into the woods to find some dry wood to set a fire or some fruits.

Benedicta:

"I got some woods to build a fire." I hear Lucas say. I look up at his hands to see the bunch of wet woods he's carrying. He looks tattered with his clothes torn in various places. I can't stop the laugh bubbling inside me.
"Are you going to laugh?" He asks and I shake my head but the laugh comes out of me. I hold my stomach as I laugh and cry at the same time. I am a mess.
"At least you can still laugh. I thought the sea wahed away your sense of humour." He says and I roll my eyes.
"What happened to your designer clothes?" I ask once I get my hysteria in check.
"I kind of encountered some bees. I think they were taking revenge on me for you." He says as he shows me his swollen arm.
"I was trying to run away from them and I fell. I ended up rolling around the grasses and thorns. " He pouts.

. I can't help but feel sorry for him. He was trying to help after all.
"Come here." I pat the spot beside me on the rock I am sitting and he diligently sit down beside me.
"Let me see that." He places his arm on my lap and I inspect it.
"We have to remove the stinger. Are you okay with that?" I ask and he nods.
"Okay, here goes." I carefully use my finger to pull it out.
"Thank you." Lucas says quietly and I smile wanly.
"We should apply something on that. We can't get our hands on any pain relieve right now. Honey would have done the trick but I don't think the bees like you." I tease.
"I did get some honey but it's for you. My arm would be fine." He says and I sigh.
"Why are you doing this?" I ask.
"Doing what?"
"Jumping out of the boat just to save me. Getting stung by bees just to get me honey. Refusing to treat your wound just so I can take said honey." I say while avoiding his eyes. I can't be deceived by the sincerity I see there.
"Look at me Benedicta." He says and use his good hand to pull my face to face him. He brushes off a stray tear from my eye and sigh.
"I love you more than life itself." He says and I think my heart just stopped.

This is coming to an end so I decided to write the two stories at the same time now that I have the time because I would be so busy very soon.
