My Mistake - Episode 8

 

The room held an uncomfortable silence. Aysha was shaking out of fear as she stared at the picture held by her mother. What should she do? What should she say? Is there any possibility that she might get out of this___healthy and alive?

"Are you going to speak up or not!" Her mom barked angrily again.

"I...ma....mo...i..."

"You" her mom started pointing her finger towards her "You are a disgrace to this family. I've never thought you're as foolish as this__neither have i ever thought you're this dumb . But yeah, you've proved me wrong__you've prove to the world that this so called woman you call a mother didn't brought you up the right___that i.....i....i am unworthy of being a mother." Her voice broke down at the end and she couldn't bare the pain she felt that moment. She slowly crunched down and hugged her legs tightly and wept. "I am not worthy of being a mother." She repeated.

Aysha couldn't believe she just made her mom cry. She couldn't bring herself to speak up___neither could she approach her mom nor could she walk away. But even after all the pain she saw in her mother's eyes___she still didn't regret what transpired between her and Fadeel. To her___it's worth her mother's tears.

"If only you'll believe i have no idea how or where that picture came from" she started, looking at the space behind her mom not wanting to meet her gaze "I don't know who sent that picture nor did i know what that person wants to gain out of all this

Her mom smiled through her tears before she stood up. Looking up at her daughter, she felt her heart tugged at how quickly her daughter is changing from being naive and stubborn to being something she had never dreamt of.

"I see. Just wait for my own reply Aysha, I'll put you back on track In shaa Allah." And with that, she looked at her daughter one last time before leaving for her bedroom.

Today has been a long day!

Alhaji Ibrahim paced his office. He couldn't sleep yesterday after his wife showed him the picture of their daughter hugging another man without being legally his. He had been questioning himself if there's a flaw in the way he and her mother had brought her up, he had been wondering what they did wrong to make her change this way. Now, he has only one option left____to marry her off before she does something they'll both regret!

His phone buzzed and he picked without looking.

"Yes, Alhaji Ibrahim speaking."

"Its me, Alhaji Adamu."

"Ohh. Been a while, how are you and how is every one at home?"

"All fine. When will you be back? we need to talk on something very important."

"I'll call as soon as am back In shaa Allah."

"Alright. Thank you, see you later."

"What are you doing to yourself? How could you go to Yaya Fadeel's room Aysha? What were you thinking?"

Fa'izah tried so hard to conceal her anger and talk some sense to her friend. She couldn't believe that for the love of her life Aysha could be this way__not even in her wildest dream.

"Is it that you don't want me with your brother or what?"

"Of course i do Dummy!" Fa'izah snapped.

"Then let me get him and stop getting all worked up miss."

"You're doing it the wrong way. Trust me___you'll regret all this sooner or later Aysha."

"Well, i don't regret it for now so just let me be okay?" Aysha yelled.

"You're so pathetic" Fa'izah said clearly angry "i won't be there when you regret it___trust me."

"Just go. I always knew you hate me."

That struck Fa'izah so hard that she felt her heart beat increasing. How could she say this to her?

"I'm sorry. I won't see you again till all this is fixed. I wish you the best."

"Go, i don't need your well wishes."

"Are you serious? Aysha did that? Our very own Aysha?"

"Yes" Alhaji Ibrahim replied as he sighed "i don't even know what to do Adamu."

"Well, i came here to talk about her and Fadeel. I think it'll be good if we marry them off together."

"Are you serious?"

"Yes.

"Alhamdulillah! (Praise be to God)" Alhaji Ibrahim said happily. "You don't know how much this means to me. May Allah reward you."

"Amiin Amiin. When do you think we should fix the wedding?"

"I think you should talk to him first" Alhaji Ibrahim suggested.

"I don't need his opinion. I gavw birth to him, so he has to respect my wish."

"Okay. Good by me. Is two months okay by you."

"Yes. May Allah spare our lives."

"Amiin. Thank you so much."

"What? What do you mean am getting married dad__I'm a grown up, gotta choose my own woman my self please."

The Adamu Barwa's family are all seated in the living room. Its been two days since the parents has decided to marry the children off and Fadeel is being told just now.

"I have the right to choose a wife for you young man. Don't you dare talk to me using that tone!" His dad snapped angrily.

Fadeel was silent for a while before he asked "who is she?"

"Aysha." his dad replied.

"Not that slut please Dad!" he bellowed angrily.
