Discovery II
”I am sorry Eddy for lying to you all these years. My name really is Kana.”
“Ok, Kana… who are you?”
“I am one of your protectors.”
Ed was hurt. He had always valued his friendship with Kana because he thought she accepted him and his weaknesses and inabilities even without knowing anything about him but now it turns out that she was close to him because he had no other option. “And Jane?” he asked.
“Yes but…”
Ed stormed out into the courtyard and closed the screen door
. The only friends he thought he had were with him because they had no other options. Someone had to keep an eye on him. At this point he began to suspect that Jane didn’t die just because she saw his seal. She must have been killed because they wanted to eliminate his defenses, his protectors so that they can strike him where it hurts the most.
This was really a blow to him because it meant that he really had no one who genuinely wanted to be close to him. Yeah, sometimes he spoke to himself and got carried away with it. Sometimes he’d have nightmares and scream his head out and Kana would always come running. All this time, he thought she came because she really cared but now he knows it was just out of duty; she was just doing her job

. “I am her job”, he said and laughed bitterly to himself.
Meanwhile, Kana was restless. She didn’t mean to hurt him but there was no other way for him to know the truth. She truly came to stay close to Eddy as part of her duty and it’s also true that he is weird but she came to discover that aside from all his troubles, he was really a sweet, funny, and nice person; a great friend who put others above himself continually. She truly valued him and she needs to find a way to make him understand that duty wouldn’t have made her stay for all these years, she could have asked for a replacement or for a leave but she didn’t. Jason noticed Kana walking towards the door and rushed to hold her back.
“Leave him be”, he said with compassion in his eyes. “He will come around.”
“What if he runs away, he can be impulsive like that”, she said trying to loosen his grip on her.
“He would never abandon all the people in need of his help. He has a power that no one else possesses, he’d never leave.”
“You seem to have confidence in his ability now. You never spoke of him this way before now.” She said
“I know but now I believe that with our help he will make it through. We just need to get rid of the Ifra and find whoever is helping to Mangi so we can stop him.”
“I hope you are right Jay.”
“I am. We will leave in two days so Ed can rest and recover.” He said and began to walk away.
“Jay?
“He will be fine. Trust me.”
