Midnight Voice - Episode 14
Arrival
JASON
Our journey to the Citadel was uneventful and surprisingly short. A journey that would have taken a full day with a wagon took just 8hrs. It was 2328hrs when we arrived and there was no one about. The whole place was earily silent and dark. Not even a flame on a candle could be seen anywhere; our torch which we lighted on our approach was the only light to be seen. We passed by the temple and it was just like the rest of the places.
"What is this?" Ed asked looking around with lines or worry and bewilderement etched on his face
. "I know I haven't been here for a long while but this is not what I expected. This places looks deserted. It used to look lively with lights everywhere even when everyone was asleep."
"Something is seriously wrong here." Said I looking around also. "We need to find out what's happening here."
We made haste to the house of the Chief Priest and knocked. No one opened nor made a sound at first then after insistent knocking a boy came to the window to peep at us and disappear then a man came to the door and opened it apparently the boy had recognized me.
"Jason!" He exclaimed. "We have been looking for a way to contact you for days now

"Well, I didn't want to be traced and I couldn't have gotten here any sooner even if I tried but I did come with the Unidos though. Here he is."
EDWARD
The man was tall; almost as tall as me. His face bore hard lines etched by age and a lifetime of disciplining others and making tough decisions. He had pure white hair, beards and even eye brows. Underneath the evidence of age his eyes were sharp and filled with life. It was after Jason pointed me out as the Unidos that he turned those compelling eyes of his to me.
"Welcome home boy." He said to me and then his features softened a bit as he looked at my company and saw weariness written all over us. "Forgive my manners," he pleaded, "please come in and I'll get you something to eat."
