The Exchange
EDWARD
"What kind of spell is it?" I asked looking perplexed.
"Tell me exactly what happened to her." He replied still examining Kana.
I told him what happened and how it happened. How she rescued me only for the ball of light to strike her before proceeding to disappear. He shook his head as he heard the details of the story i was telling
. I actually thought he was going to be surprised and ask me what the ball of light must have been but he only shook his head and lifted his dark misty eyes to look at me...
"Bare your chest." Was all he said to me.
"What have I to do with the spell you just spoke of?" I asked him feeling uncomfortable.
"Just do it."
I was confused but I did it anyway without looking at myself but when I heard Jason gasp, I had to look.
"Your crest is gone!" Jason screamed out.
"How can this be?" I asked falling into a chair.
"She took your curse upon herself." He began, "When she knocked out the voo doo doll from the middle of the ball of light and destroyed it, she destroyed the link the sorcerers have on you and when the light began to rage and lashed out at her it was transferred to her."
"Why is she unconcious then?" My head was already aching. "When I had it I was concious and even became stronger with each passing day."

"What do we do now?"
"You will make haste to the Citadel as soon as you can. She will be in danger so you have to take her with you and put her under protection. Find the sorcerer and destroy his sorcery, when you get to his lair you will see the physical representation of the crest of ifra; destroy it and she will be free."
Jason placed his hand on my shoulder and when I looked up at him he nodded at me in a silent show of solidarity. A lot of questions buzzed through my mind as I shifted uncomfortably in my chair... Did she know what was going to happen? Is she going to die? How do I convey her safely to the Citadel without having attacks? How do I find the sorcerer?... I was never comfortable with anyone taking my affliction upon themselves. I'd rather die than consciously let that happen. As if he read my mind, he went inside and came back out with a cloak which he handed to me.
"You must put this on her at all times. It will shield her so that the Ominas cannot find her location. My son will show you the shortest route to the Citadel."
"How do I find the sorcerer?" I asked.
"I will show you how to concentrate so you can find anything anywhere; you have a compass within you. All you have to do is to place your hand on the crest of ifra and do what I will show you. Lets go to my inner chamber then you can be on your way."
