Made - Episode 39

I massaged the palm of his hands gently.

"You okay hun?"

"Yeah am okay." David responded. I lifted his hand and kissed it. For someone with minor injuries he looked so pale.

"I thought i was never going to see you David." I told him.

"Yeah?...you know am not going anywhere am here baby." He said letting out a slight cough.

"Are you okay David?" I asked holding his temple.

"Yeah am okay i just need some water."

I wheeled myself to the dispenser at the corner of the room then poured a glass of water for him.

"Here have some."

"Thanks babe."

He gulped the water silently while i watched him. 

"I was dying David." I said silently.

"Don't say that sweety, you are alive now."

"But i was dying sweety. In my dream i was falling so fast then she called me."

"Who called you?" David asked wearing a quizzical look.

"I really don't know....it's stupid..." I said.

The door opened and the doctor who had been taking care of both of us appeared on the door way. 

"Hello Ericksons."

"Hello Doc... how is everything looking up for us."

. You two should be going back home in two days but thats not what am here for."

"Okay... so whats the news?" David  asked.

My ears craned waiting to hear what news the doctor had in store for us. 

"Well... Mr. Erickson your wife is pregnant. Two weeks gone.

"She is pregnant?"

"Yes she is." The doctor affirmed.

I slowly lifted myself from the wheel chair and deposited my tired body next to my husband. We hugged for a while completely ignoring the doc in the room. 

"Thanks my dear." David said.

"No need to thank me for our baby."

"I love you both."

"We love you too." I responded then kissed him on the lips.

The doctor cleared his voice.

"That being said, Mrs.Erickson i need you to relax and not stress yourself too much. After such a shock and your child surviving we can't afford you stressing yourself. Its not good for you or the baby."

I nodded.

"You don't have to worry doctor i will ensure she takes care of herself." David added

"Okay. I will see you guys later."

"Okay Doc." We both responded.

After the doctor left we stayed in silence my head on David's chest. So it was her that called me while i was falling. Life was strange. I was really falling that day. Falling to my death. 

"Her name is Grace." I said to David.

"How do you know its a girl?"

"She called me out when i was falling... falling to my death. It was a she... i heard her voice calling me mummy."

"Thats alright i wanted a Grace name for a girl. Grace is perfect."

"I need to go back to my room love. I will come check on you later."

"Okay Love."

I steered from the peaceful sleep i was in. 

Today we were being discharged from the hospital. I  stood from my bed then went to stand by the window. Gently i c*ressed my belly. I couldn't believe in eight and a half months time i would be holding a bundle of joy in my hands. 

The product of love.

I felt my eyes welling up in happiness. 

"Big Siz today we are going home." Alicia jerked me from my thoughts.

"Thats right." I said while wiping tears away from  the corners of my eyes."

Alicia must have noticed for she immidiately rushed to my side.

"You okay Danny? Looks like you have been crying.

"Am fine Alicia... tears of happiness."

"Am so happy about the baby too, am going to be an aunt. Finally."

She helped me back to my bed and made me sit down while she put my stuff inside the bag. 

"Am going to David." I said while standing up from the bed. 

"You two are so inseperable. Isn't that David i just saw leaving your room." 

"He was here?... i was still asleep then, anyway am going to see him."

I made for David's  room. He was standing by the window but had already changed from the hospital clothes.

"Exited to go home huh?" I approached him.

He turned then met me halfway placing his hand on my belly. "How are my two girls doing?"

"We are fine."

I felt his hand tremble and he jerked it of my belly immidiately.

"Babe are you okay?" His faced looked anxious.

"I dont know i just feel anxious ... i dont know why."

He settled on the bed and i perched beside me.

"Maybe the doctor should check on you before we are finally released." I suggested while touching his forehead.

"No need am okay baby."

I gave him a questioning look.

"Are you sure you are okay?"

"Yeah am fine." He made to stand then his leg jerked making him fall back on the bed.

"My vision is blurred. Call the doctor."

I screamed doctor while running through the hall way. 

"What's wrong?" The doc asked when i arrived at his office.

. I had completely forgotten i could press a button on David's room and that would alert them.

"My husband.. he is having slight tremors on the hands and leg... he says he cannot see properly." I explained while we hurried to his ward.

I wasn't expecting what followed. We found David sprawled all over the bed like he was sleeping. My brain immidiately jumped to the worst.

"Doc is he ....deaad? Oh my God...Do something doc."

He used his stethoscope and felt for his heart beat.

"He is unconcious... he must have fainted when you left him."

"Is he going to be fine?"

"We will do what we can... for now i need you to step out and let us do our job."

I looked at David who seemed asleep. The nurse who was now in was changing him back to hospital clothes. Its seems we were not going back home as we initially thought we were. Alicia who also heard the commotion and came tugged me out of the ward.

"Prepare him for a CT scan." He said to a male nurse who had just walked in. 

I let Alicia pull me along as i watched the doctor draw the curtains of David's ward.
