When we get home I lead her into the kitchen quietly, she's quiet and withdrawn and I know it's because of the little play on her emotions. 

I don't ask about it though, just turn her to me as she tries to make her way upstairs. 

 

"Did you have a good night?" 

"Yes, Thank you barbarian boy" She says and I grin. 

Seems like I'm melting the ice, that last time didn't sound as if she hated me. 

 

She turns to walk upstairs but I grab her hand, she turns back to me. 

"Can I kiss you?" I ask quietly and I wonder if she would give me the permission. 

"Stellan..." 

"You can't tell me that you don't feel this thing between us" I say. 

"Even if I do we, we can't be together..." she says and I frown, pulling closer. 

"Why?" 

"We are from different worlds, I'm an heiress and you are..." 

"A poor farm boy" I say, pulling away. 

"Yes, you totally get it" She says and I nod. 

"Well, it's good that you've made it clear where I stand, have a goodnight princess" I say and she watches me for a moment before bounding upstairs. 

I turn away, towards my own part of the house when the house phone rings.

It's been two days since I last came home, no it's not because of what went down that night. 

It's not because of the words she said. 

Although hearing her saying that stuff wasn't cool but I understood where she was coming from. 

One thing about Sybil is that she doesn't hold back and she doesn't know when to be sensitive. 

I know she probably doesn't even care about me or what I do, I'm just the most available person who entertains her but I know what I want and I go for it. 

It's up to me to make her see that we could be good together. 

I trudge into the kitchen, my hands pulling my hair but stop when I see princess sitting at the kitchen table. 

"Hey Pee" I say,stopping to talk to her. 

"You've been missing for a while now" She says. 

"Yeah, I had an issue with something..." She doesn't let me finish before interrupting. 

"Did you purposefully ignore me because I refused to let you kiss me?" I raise a brow. 

"Are you just like the other then Stellan? All of them wanting something from me and when they don't get it they go back into the wood work?" She asks and it's then it becomes obvious to me that I made a mistake. 

I misread a few signals of hers, I find myself almost grinning but I kill it, turning to her. 

"What do you mean Sybil? "

"Where were you? We did not go fishing"She says and I shake my head. 

"What did you mean by those words Syb? "

"Why do you want to know? "

"Are you going to talk or are you going to let me walk away? "I ask and I hope I am correct when I say the signals I read was wrong. 

She looks at me for a while before obviously deciding to deflect the question, I let it go. 

" Why do you look so tired? "She asks and I move closer to her, my body almost touching hers. 

" My friend had a baby, he found out it isn't his and I've been dealing with the blowback"I say and she sucks in a breath. 

When Carter got the test's results that showed that Janice had indeed be cheating he didn't know what to do. 

I've been dragging his drunk ass from bar to bar making sure he drinks away his sorrow and get over the conniving, money grubbing, gold digging bitch. 

"Oh" She whispers. 

"Do you care if I'm tired Pee?" I ask. 

"Well..." 

"Just answer the question" I say and she nods slowly. 

There it is, the signal I misread. 

I had thought she didn't like me and I would have to convince her but she liked me, she's just been very good at hiding it. 

I smile, lifting her chin with my finger. 

"I'm smelly and tired, I would have kissed you" 

"Well.. Uh, you still can" She says, a little shyly and I smirk before asking. 

"What has changed princess? Two days ago you weren't keen in starting anything with me" I say and she shakes her head. 

"Nothing..

"Be honest" 

"Well, I... I didn't want to waste any more time, I see what I like and I go for it" she says and I smile at how alike we are. 

"I'm going to kiss you, tell me to stop if you don't want me to" I say but she doesn't pull away. 

I kiss her. 

I've never kissed a girl but kissing Sybil is instinctual, I automatically know how much she would love for me not to go fast, how she would love if I pull her closer by her neck. 

I kiss her deeply, standing between her legs as my hand strokes her neck. 

She breaks the kiss, her eyes on mine. 

"I..." She starts but a throat clearing rips us apart. 

My mother is standing there. 

Sh*t. 

"Mother.." 

"A word, Stellan" She says before marching out of the kitchen. 

 

I kiss Sybil's head before following her. 

"What do you think you are doing?" She asks the moment I stand in front of her. 

"i..."

"This is the worst thing you could have ever done Alan" 

"Mum.." 

"You can't fall in love with that girl, I thought you knew better than that? I saw the way you looked at her but I didn't think you would..." 

"Mum, it's alright" I say and her face falls. 

"Your heart will get broken, why can't you see that? Don't go there with her, find some one else and fall in love" 

"Mother..." 

"Alan.. Please, I can already see how this will end." 

"I love her mother" I say and she pulls in a deep breath. 

"You.." 

"What ever happens will be my burden but right now? Right now I can't stay away from her mother" I say and she looks into my eyes. 

She sees what she is looking for and her face falls. 

"I wish you good luck my child but know that I am against this" She says after a while before marching into the kitchen. 

I wipe a hand down my face. 

A noise by my side shows Sybil standing there, a little away. 

She must have gone around the house in order not to be seen. 

"How much did you hear?" I ask 

"I heard nothing" She says and I want to believe her but I know she heard everything. 

"Sybil.." 

"Are we dating now? Now that you've kissed me?" I blink in surprise. 

"Do you want us to be?" 

"Yes" she says simply and I smile, pulling her into my arms. 

"I'm glad Princess" 

"I like it when you call me princess" She says and I kiss her head, grinning into her face and she cracks a smile. 

It's going to be fine.
