In my dreams - Episode 3

 

I tried not to think back to Friday night as I sat in class that monday afternoon but it had been trifle embarassing.

 After getting to his place where I had arranged a romantic dinner to his surprise, we got down to eat and joke around after which it led to the bedroom where I had planned to give him my prized virtue,  seeing how long he had waited and it felt right.

We were getting down to it when he perceived smoke..we finally realised something was burning and it was coming from the kitchen, I couldn't remember putting on the gas that afternoon but the whole kitchen and curtains were in flames, going out would have worsened the fire so we tried to put it out with the fire extinguisher,  that took about 30 minutes to do and of course it killed the mood

"This is a disaster" he exclaimed looking at the remains of his kitchen, I too felt very bad with the outcome of the evening

"I am so sorry"I said

"Its no trouble, I ll have it cleaned up" he walked away from me as I tried to remember when I had used the gas and what possibly could have started the fire

I hit my pen on the table now in anger as I came to the present, Sarah leaned in and whispered

"Do I want to know how your date night with my brother went, are you still a virgin?" I couldn't blame her for asking, she had helped with the arrangement since we couldn't pull off a surprise birthday party

"No" I said and felt bad again then looked up as dejavu hit me, this has happened before...David and I had only been dating for a year but I have had boyfriends before him.. And anytime I tried to sleep with them something happened to stop me..I looked up recalling my predicaments, could it be a coincidence, was I overthinking things.

. I was sure I didn't put the gas on that night, but David had been in a sour mood after that and that had ruined the whole surprise dinner.

I decided it wasn't a coincidence, something was wrong with me and I hoped to find out what it was soonest

"So when is it?" Sarah asked still

"When is what?"

"When are you gonna get David to propose?" She asked, I gawked at her then

"You know it's really weird that am dating your brother"I paused" I'm actually not ready for that now"I needed to do a lot of things before marriage

"So you are saying if he proposes you ll say no?"

I paused "maybe"

​​​​​​"Girl you know how many girls would want that?....just saying girl".

I stared at her" is David cheating on me? "

"What no..come on, I'm just saying you should work your magic soon enough, get him hooked"

I had no idea what she was talking about but I turned back ahead 

"Well, what about you..you do not want to pick a man"I accused

"Well I was thinking about Chris...."she said" been feeling him from afar, since he's back in town"she paused

I looked at her"that would be weird, dating your brothers best friend "

'No it won't, it's like my brother dating my best friend "she said back which I knew I was guilty of

I paused and thought about"well just hope you know what you're doing, he seems like a player"

"He does, but that's the thrill" Sarah leaned down on the desk and daydreamed, I glanced at her then

"Doesn't it surprise you that he's no longer offering our course"

"Uh?" She looked at me

"About a month ago we saw him in class, receiving lectures with us then he stopped coming suddenly...".

She stared at me confused" Chris has been abroad all these time and if your talking about the new guy..he's over there"she pointed and I turned and saw a different person who had the same physique like Chris...I gaped confused

"You mean that was who you saw me staring at?"

She paused skeptical "yeah.." She paused ".you okay?"

I shook my head no as I gathered my books, I  stood up and left the class,  I trully believed I was going crazy....

"Hey Trish" I hailed my sister, she lived alone in her apartment and worked in PZ, she laid sprawled on the cushion"you didn't go to work" I observed, she was an accountant in the company

"I'm not feeling too well"she said and winced

"Wow..you have a headache..is it malaria, have you taken some medications?"I asked

"No I'm fine, just need to rest, sup how's school going?".

" just the norm.. "I sat with her" you called in sick rii, guess that's the speck of dating your boss"

She blushed"you think ",she had been dating the boss for 6months now

" How's Dominic, been long he came over"I observed

​​" He's been busy"she managed to say while wincing, I stood up

"Getting you some meds, brb"

She was the only sister I had and I had to take care of her,  I had two siblings, my younger brother was still a kid with my mother at home, most times I wished I was the only child so I could inherit my fathers billions but that was not to be.

My parents were located in portharcourt while my sister and I lived alone in Lagos, I knew I needed to go home soon though..I needed to ask my mother some questions about why I was having these dreams I had never told anyone about, I had waved it off when I was younger as nothing but this wasn't nothing, this was something strong...I  was seeing things and things were happening to me that I couldn't explain, I had decided to talk to my sister first though,  and hear her take on it.
