In my dreams - Episode 2

 

"Jasmine are you ready?" Sarah called out, we both lived together in a rented apartment  off campus and we both had our own rooms, it was two weeks later and I had tried not to look for that guy in class and had succeeded.

It seemed as though he too wasn't looking for me, because I didn't see him at all during classes, but had it been real or  a dream, was he no longer offering the course..I couldn't have imagined the goose pimples, the stares ...besides Sarah had seen him too right...? was it possible I was going crazy?

My friends had forgotten about the episode and I was grateful that Sarah hadn't mentioned it to her brother, David and I d been dating for a year and hoped to get married after I graduate, I didn't want anything to soil it, I had never had any man grab my attention like that guy did anyway...me not seeing him physically didn't mean I stopped seeing him in my dreams, if anything, it became worse, I'd wake up sweating and if not for Sarah who usually woke me up, I'd be late for classes...

"Jasmine.." Sarah called again, today was David's birthday and we were all going out to the club"you take so much time to get ready.. Oh wow you look hot in that.

. David won't be able to take his eyes off you tonight"

"That's the point" I said, pulling down the red shire gown to make sure its snug..then I looked at my friend, her mini black gown did all the job.."you do look great "I complimented

She blushed" Thank you.. We have to go, lest we ll be late"

"David's picking me up..lest you wana join us in his car"I said

"Gross no..I ll see you at the club then, before you guys start sucking faces" she walked away from my room

I laughed "I know you jealous " I said.

" spare me the details"she said with a gag.. I chuckled as I pulled open the front door, David already texted me he was outside, his black BMW glowed in the dark..

"Hey baby " I said as I got in the car

"Sup" we kissed but he leaned away and kept staring at me

" what " I said, he chuckled and reversed

" I ll have to fend off a lot of guys tonight" he said

"Its your birthday Dave..I have to look hot"

He smiled "so what did you get for me.."

"Its a surprise" I grinned devilishly

"Do I want to know?" he wondered

"You have to wait for it" I said

The club was already in full swing when we got in, he was quite popular and had  lot of friends, one of the reasons we couldn't pull off a surprise party because some blabbermouth would tell him over a couple of drinks...

David held my hand and pulled me through the crush of bodies, we were supposed to go to the VIP section, but with the hoots we were getting I hoped we made it, I spotted Jacqueline who was already talking with a guy her back to me, she was already getting her game on, she was the kind of friend that went around, never with one specific guy, Sarah I found out was also there mixing a drink..we finally got to the VIP section where David gave me a glass of wine as his guys surrounded him, the place was packed, Jackie finally found her way to me

"Of course" i said we hit glasses" so who's the guy you were speaking with" I asked

"Just some random dude.."

"Someone's gonna get laid tonight" I said smirking

"Speak for yourself..everyone's looking forward to the gift you got for David at the end of the night"

"Shut up, I'm a virgin and hope to remain so"

"That, I'm doubting.." Jackie said then sipped her wine"Christian.. I didn't know he was in the country" she suddenly said eyes looking ahead

"Who?" I looked to who she was referring to and my heart did a double take, it was him....again..was I seeing well or was it a dream..

"Chris..guess he's friends with David"she said as  I saw David go hug him with a slap on the back....kill me ..were they friends or what

"Stop drooling" I looked at Jacqueline "he gets that a lot, do not add to the list", what the hell was she on about..I was about to choke on my drink...and she was implying....

"Are you alright..you look awfully pale"she said looking at me, I finally recovered myself briefly

" I'm... fine.. Just wondering who he was, never heard of him "

"Seriously, that was  your boyfriend's closest pal in school"

"you serious?" Dejavu hit me again "I only know of Teejay, how is he just showing up now" I asked confused, are there parts of my life I couldn't remember?

She looked at me like I was stupid "well maybe you should ask your boyfriend" she left me there, great friend she was leaving me in my confused state.. I turned back around and asked for another drink...

"So um this is the part where we leave.." I said to David as we danced

"What do you have up your sleeves?" he asked

I trailed a finger down his chest "its a surprise"

He chuckled "Give me a min", he pecked me and left, I was staring after him when I met his gaze from across the room, he stood at a corner watching my every move, he hadn't even joined the party..creepy much?.. I looked away..David was no where to be found so I left the dancefloor to go join my friends

" we were thinking of ditching and going downtown, you in?"I knew what they meant, they wanted to go get high, I  wondered why I was friends with them again

"Naw..David and I are leaving soon" I said

"Okay..your loss" they  left me there and walked away,  I again looked around for David  then took a glass of wine from a passing tray, I took a sip then turned around and hit something hard, the place was packed full, i wasn't surprised i hit someone but it wasn't just anyone, it was Paul..sorry Chris....I just spilled wine all over his shirt and he didn't seem pleased

"Wow..this just got ruined..." he said then looked at me "was coming over to introduce myself to my buddies girlfriend "

How does he do that, act like we d never met, like he hadn't been staring at me all night, and even in class ..or was I going crazy..was i alone in my dreams..I realised he was still talking as I fazed out, images flashed before my eyes again..did he see them too or was it just me in my own mini world.. his mouth moved but I had no idea what he was talking about because it had gone silent in the room with the sound of only my heartbeat being heard, I realised how good looking he was up close as my eyes went down him...he took my glass from my hand and finished the wine, that brought me out of my reverie

"That's me taking the blame..I'm Chris..guess you haven't heard of me"I shook my head or rather my head moved.."out of sight is out of mind"he said

"Last I checked, friendship was a mutual thing.." I finally found my voice

"Not when you keep calling and he's not answering.. " he was saying when David arrived

" hey babe..you okay?" he put his hands around my waist and pulled me to himself, "sorry babe, I had to settle some things" I decided he had intruded, I wanted to know more about their friendship.. about Chris and why he was in my dream, that would have to wait though, I looked back at David

"Yea.. We can go now"I said

" I see you've met Chris..this is my baby Jasmine" he introduced

"I can see that" Chris said one hand in pocket

"So where you staying man.."

"A hotel..for now, still settling somethings" he looked back at me with his creepy eyes, could he be more weird if he wasn't acting like he didn't know me?

"Just hit me up if your in a hook of something" David said

"Appreciate that man.." They shook and he walked away, there was a pause before David pulled me out of the club

"Who's that?" I asked

"Who.. Chris..my friend in college, we lost contact when he travelled out" he shook his head"..its a long story "

We got into the car as he asked

"your place or mine "

I smiled to myself at the surprise I had for him..."Your's" I said.
