Fulfilling Wishes - Episode 2

Reeva still couldn’t believe her ears. “Wait, did you just break up with me?”

He sighed and nodded. “Yes, I just did. I am never going to marry you, Reeva. I am so sorry. My parents want someone serious, who studies law and very hardworking and who is also from a noble family. I am so sorry.”

Reeva was quiet for a while . First, she felt like everywhere was so hot and then she was covered in sweat. This wasn’t happening.

He reached for her hand but she didn’t give it.

“Come on, we can still be friends. You know I still like you.”

She glanced at him, then stood up, picked up her fur which was on the chair, his very first gift for her, then she grabbed the cup of wine on the table and emptied it on his head before walking out of the restaurant.

Reeva walked for a while down the road without waiting for a cab. She had never felt so humiliated in her entire life. Despite everything she had done to keep him, he still ended up breaking up with her.  Her sobs were lost beneath the thunder that rolled in the far distance. The fact that it was going to rain didn’t make her feel better.  The weather had grown immensely darker and everyone was rushing to avoid the rain

. She wasn’t running. In fact, right then, she didn’t care if the thunderstruck her down right then. She was certain that by tomorrow the news would have spread and she would become the laughing stock eventually. In fact, getting struck by lightning might actually help her to avoid further humiliation. She wasn’t ever going to step out of the room again.

She cried. All her hopes were dashed to the ground. The entire wedding plan she has always wanted. She had been so stupid. Skybae was right. She had really been so stupid.

She stood beside the road to wave down a cab but none stopped.  The rain was beginning to fall and she was immediately drenched. Each drop fell on her with a force that kept sending cold shudders down her body. She managed to look around for shelter but the thick heavy downpour obscured her vision. She finally stood, with arms akimbo as the rain poured freely down her face into her already soaked cloth. She gave up! Nothing mattered anymore.

She saw a vehicle flashing its headlamp at her and she waited as the car stopped beside her and someone climbed out with an umbrella to get her, it was Pristin. Together they walked back into the car. She was glad that her friends had received her message on time.

HOURS LATER

Pristin and Skybae both sat beside their friend who was now wrapped in a huge blanket on the bed.  They were both sorry for everything that happened.

“I can’t believe he did that to you,” Pristin said, finally breaking the silence. “I thought you said that he understood what you did. He met your mum and broke up that very night, that is just wickedness.”

Skybae shrugged. “I think he never really loved her. I mean he never had any future plan for her. He had shown all this from the beginning, Reeva was the one who wanted more.”

“Well, that doesn’t change how awful he had treated her.”

“Well, agreed that he did a wrong thing but don’t you think it was better now than later, I mean, at least now she wouldn’t keep thinking that they were both on the same page.”

Reeva watched as her friends kept dragging the issue between them, she was just quiet.

“He is a cheat and a big son of a bitch and he never deserved her in the first place. “Skybae yelled, then stopped as she realized what she had just said. This got Reeva’s attention.

“He is a son of a bitch, that I accept, but a cheat?” Reeva said, now looking at the both of them. “Is there something you two need to tell me?”

The two ladies exchanged glances and were quiet.

“No, you need to tell me whatever it is that I need to know. Skybae, Pristin!”

Finally, they sighed and Skybae started. “We found him sleeping with Meg in his car weeks back.”

Perhaps, it was because of the heartbreak she was still feeling that she made no reaction or probably because she knew it was pointless, whatever it was Reeva didn’t look surprised.

“Meg? The lady he introduced as his family friend?” She asked dryly and the ladies nodded.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” She asked weakly.

“Because we know you would not believe us and it might leave you devastated.” Pristin explained, “We are really sorry but you don’t deserve him at all.”

Reeva smiled. “You are right. If you had told me, I wouldn’t have believed you. Anyway, the worst has happened, even with all my manipulation, I couldn’t keep him. He is such a bastard. That fool!”

“What are you going to do?” Skybae asked.

“I don’t know, but first, I need to talk to my mum.”

“Well, at least, he didn’t waste time before telling you what he actually had in mind,” Tracy said, handling her cup of tea.

“I thought the same,” Skybae replied. All of them had gone to Mrs. Jones, the following day.

“He wanted someone noble...didn’t he see that I was not from a noble background all this while? So he used me and dumped me. How noble of him.” Reeva said, gritting her teeth.

“So, who is this Maggie?” Mrs. Jones asked.

“Well...” Skybae began, bringing out her phone and going through it. “It says here on her Facebook page that her father is also a member of the ABA, in fact, her father is the secretary and...” She stopped, her face getting wide-eyed.

“What is it?” Pristin asked but Skybae wasn’t forthcoming, she looked so white. This actually got the attention of the rest.

“Come on spill it, whatever it is I can handle it,” Reeva explained.

“Well, It says here on her recent post that she got engaged to Tony Johnson,” Skybae explained cautiously, showing the screen of her phone to everyone.

When Reeva saw the picture, and the bold announcement on the screen, she felt as if she had just been hit by a truck emotionally. She could feel nausea rising from the pit of her stomach and she badly wanted to vomit and cry out at the same time. It was like someone had just peeled off whatever injury she had been trying to close for a while...her heart bled and she stood up, running out of the room.

Skybae made to follow her but Tracy stopped her.

“Don’t go with her. Let her be. She is my daughter and I know that she will come around. Right now, she needs to deal with this, once she is finally able to handle it, she will come back.”

Skybae and Pristin sighed sadly and sat down. They could hear the sound of Reeva’s car driving out of the compound.

“I wish there is a way to punish that idiot. It is so not fair. He couldn’t even wait before proposing to another woman. He is such a mental case.”Pristin yelled angrily.

Mrs. Jones (Tracy) smiled. “You don’t need to punish him for anything. She caused everything by throwing herself at him, the first time she brought him here which was yesterday, I knew that the relationship was heading nowhere. He was just not her type.”

“She was just so desperate for a happily ever after and a fairy wedding. What could have caused that Mrs., Jones?” Pristin asked.

“Well, I guess that should be my fault. She watched too many romantic movies during her childhood and she is a sucker for a happily ever after, aside from that, her father and I never had such a wedding, we moved in together and I got pregnant so we never had any special wedding party. That was how we started a family. When I told her, she seemed so disappointed and has always hoped for a glamorous white wedding. I know it’s stupid but she just cannot help it. “

Skybae checked her wristwatch. “It’s getting late and we need to get back to the campus. Are you sure that she will be fine Mrs. Jones?”

Tracy nodded. “She will, I know my daughter. I will not be surprised if she comes back with the most stupid idea ever. So don’t be worried, I will call you once she gets home. You should be on your way.”

Mrs. Jones checked the time, it was some minutes to eight in the night.

. Now she needed to be worried as ten hours had gone by and her daughter was yet to be back from wherever she must have gone to.

Just as she picked her phone to call, she heard her car driving in. With a sigh of relief, she dropped the phone on the couch and waited for her. Some minutes later, Tracy came in, surprisingly, she wasn’t looking tired or sad as her mother had expected.

“Where have you been dear? Are you okay?” Her mother asked.

Instead, she smiled and threw her phone on the table. “Yes, mum. I am super fine. I just got back from O.T right now....”

Her mother gasped. “What. OT. That's the school of law in Otta.”

“Yea, mom. I will changing to that school, I wanna go study law. ”

LOL, LOBATAN! SHE WANNA GO STUDY LAW BECAUSE HER EX DUMPED HER FOR SOMEONE ELSE, WISE OR STUPID?
