FIONA - Episode 16

 

“We need to talk, Fiona is in danger” the person at the other end of the phone spoke. “Who is this and what do you mean by Fiona is in danger?” Michel responded with much shock at his unexpected caller.
“I am being followed, they are going to kill me but I know only you can save her,” the person told Michel. “ where can I meet you?” Michel responded boldly . “Meet me at the Yonot Tea shop in thirty minutes.” The person directed him and he agreed.

Michel arrived at the shop in a few minutes to wait for the strange person. He had no idea why he was there or why he even had to come but the thought of Fiona being in danger was a matter of urgency. For a second, he thought of how stupid he had been to just accept a random call and come over. What was wrong with him, what if it's someone trying to kill him? His inner voice pointed out. But it was for Fiona and her safety means everything to him and he hoped it was really about her. For a moment, all he could think of was hope it wouldn't turn out to be the other way around because he was defenseless at that moment. As he awaited the person, he had no idea what to expect but sure he wasn't going to be taken down easily, regardless.

A tall dark man in a simple blue jean and black shirt walked over to him. He had on a face cap as if hiding his face from the public

. He came and sad opposite Michel who did not seem to recognize his face but assumed it was his caller.

“Thank you for coming,” the man said. “This better be good” Michel replied coldly. “You said Fiona is in danger, what do you mean by that and who are you?” Michel inquired.
“I am Mr. Lee, her family doctor. Or at least I was until they tried to kill me” The man replied. “Tried to kill you?” That caught Michel’s attention. “I worked for the Ardens for over 13 years as the family official doctor. But that is not all, Joseph and I have been best of friends and swords to protect each other in times of crises. I know his daughter is in danger and whosoever is involved is not going to rest until they get what they want, her wealth.” the guy said, and Michel smirk. “Another story about her wealth again?” Michel shook his head. After Fiona’s mysterious disappearance, Joseph insisted that no matter what happened, he was going to find his daughter. He loved her like there is no other. He is a nice man and would never fight anyone so why would anyone try to hurt his daughter?”
“Just get to the point” Michel snapped.

“Joseph and I got into some investigations about what could possibly go wrong. He told me he once caught her best friend speaking ill of her over the phone but was very uncertain if it was actually about his daughter and when he confronted her, she denied” The guy explained but was interrupted by Michel’s question. “Best friend, you mean Olivia?” Michel asks. “I believe that is her name.” the guy affirmed. “Joseph hired a private investigator to look into his family matter because he was certain someone who knew him must have something to do with her disappearance.

About two to three weeks later, when Fiona was still nowhere to be found, Joseph called me one early morning, sounding very bitter that his own children had betrayed him and he knew what happened to Fiona. He said it wasn't a matter to discuss over the phone. So I should come over to discuss. But I had few patients to handle at the moment but was able to make my way to his apartment at a later time. When I got to his house, I met him lying almost lifeless on the floor. I took him to the hospital and he began to recover bit by bit but he failed to recover even after two consecutive weeks of treatment. We had to run many tests and I soon learned that his blood had been tampered with even before his coming to the hospital. And that made whatsoever happened to his really worse that it hindered his ability to speedy recover despite the efforts.

I confronted Benji about what I found and He insisted that I am responsible for his Father’s condition. He claimed that I was making his father ill in order to keep him at the hospital and increase the bills along with so many other claims. I was arrested for a few days and that eventually led me to lose my license even when they found no evidence that I was responsible.
They wouldn’t allow me anywhere around the house.” The guy elaborated.

“Why are you telling me all this? And how am I sure that you are as innocent as you claim?” Michel asked. “I want my life back. Not only have I lost my license to continue my practice as a doctor, but my life has also been threatened by unknown arm men.” The guy explained and pull a side of his long deep blue shirt. He showed Michel a gun mark on his upper left arm. “I was shot a few days after I decided to reveal some of Joseph and I interactions with the police. And whoever is behind this is going to kill me. I have done all I can to talk to Fiona, somehow it is not just possible. I went to visit her a few days ago, I was told she doesn't want to see me. I learned that she first went searching for me but she was told I traveled. I am sure her family has told her the lies and now she doesn't even wanna talk to me.” The guy explained. “So how does helping safe Fiona help you get your life back?” Michel asked. “When the truth is out and real corporate is found, I will get my license back and hopefully no one will have to be tracking me to kill me or treating me like a figurative in my own country. Moreover, Joseph would have done the same for me” The man told Michel.

“You have a strong reputation and I am sure Fiona trusts you. I learned that she was with you a few months ago and I knew she was safe with you until she decided to return home. I also went through so much trouble to reach you.” The man told him. “Why should I trust that you are telling me the truth?” Michel interrogated him. “You can either believe me or kill me. But we both can agree that Fiona's life is in danger. The fact that you came here confirms that you care about her and you know something is wrong” The guy firmly spoke to him. Michel sat up looking at the guy straight in the eyes. “I am going to look into this and it better be worthy. If I find out that you lied to me; I will make your life more difficult than whatever you are going through right now. I am going to get you!” Michel threatened and woke up to leave.

“Also, you must help me speak to Fiona. I have a message for her” the guy said as Michel turned his back. “Are you trying to piss me off? First, you want me to protect Fiona and now you have a message for her? Is this some kind of game you play with me?” Michel doubted the guy and was beginning to lose patience.

“When Joseph was recovering in the hospital, slowly, he gave me a message for Fiona only” The guy explained. “What is it?” Michel demanded. “I can't tell you. I promise to tell her only” the guy refused. “You better make sure this is worth or you be sorry for yourself” Michel warned before stomping out of the place.

“I was told you would be here,” Kisha said to Michel who was sitting in the library doing some random research just after he ended a call. “Hey there, need something” Michel responded with his face lightened up. “Was it Fiona?” Kisha asked. “And how did you guess that” Michel seemed puzzled. “Is it so obvious. Like you literally smiling and I have noticed that the way you smile around her is so different” Kisha explained. “Hmm, I didn't know I was being observed, thanks ma'am” He was taken aback. “You aren't here to lecture me about Fiona right? What do you want?

“I wanted to talk to you,” Kisha said in an undertone and Michel lifted his head to give her his full attention. “Is everything okay?” Kisha asked. “You see since my parents died, your family took me in and have treated me just like my own family. You have given me everything I have ever asked for and I couldn't be more grateful.” Kisha expressed.

“You are a member of this Family Kisha. Did someone hurt you?” Michel asked out of concern. “Ohh not. I just wanted to take over my mother’s boutique in Capital city. Since she died it has been run by her elder sister but the aunt is very ill now and I want to continue my mother’s legacy. I don't want to sound ungrateful but if it's okay with you, I would love to move back to Capital City” Kisha pleaded.

Michel took in a deep breath and adjusted his seat.

“I always knew one day you would have to make this decision. Just maybe not today but I am completely fine with it. When do you plan to leave?" He asked feeling content with her decision. " In two weeks. But tomorrow I will have to go over to get some work done.” She informed Michel.

“Let me know if there is anything I can do to ease your transition,” Michel told her. “Thank you very much for understanding, I really appreciate this,” She said and turned to leave. “Kisha, I am proud of you. I will always be your brother” Michel said to Kisha. That was the warmest thing she has heard him say in years. She smiled and walked away. Fiona has really changed him” She thought.
