Finding Solace - Episode 10

 

NICK.
I was some minutes past five in the morning. My bags were packed and I was ready to go. She was still sleeping, I was sure of that. I wouldn’t wake her up, just a look at her should be okay.
When I got to her room, I contemplated. I wasn’t sure if her door was locked or not and I didn’t want to wake her. I sucked at goodbyes . Taking in a sharp breath, I pushed the door open and surprisingly, it was unlocked.
Thankfully she wasn’t naked. Women could be so unpredictable. Instead, she was wrapped in a blanket with her natural hair sprawled all over the pillow. I never knew her hair was this long and beautiful. I thought about Yvonnes’s hair. She was always either carrying a Japanese hair, or Indian. I didn’t think I have ever seen her in her naturals.
Well, I shook the thought off. I wondered why I always compared the both of them. 
I stepped closer, quietly in order not to wake her. She was sleeping so peacefully and innocently, almost like a baby. I had no idea why I just derived so much pleasure from looking at her while she slept. It was like the most beautiful thing. The way I had grown so fond of her within such a little time was really inexplicable.
I walked closer, almost tempted to wake her but I changed my mind. Mustering all the courage I had, I turned and left

. I would be back soon, before Yvonne would come. She already travelled to shoot more scenes at Dubai. She told me last night so I knew there was no reason to disturb Fiona about her. By the time Yvonne would be back, which could be weeks or months, Fiona should have recovered her memory by then. Then I could take her to her parents or her spouse, she had no ring on her finger so, she couldn’t be married.
The lady I called should be here before she wakes and then everything would be fine. Picking my brief case, I left the house.

FIONA
When I woke up, he was gone. The house was empty without him and for the first time, I felt really lonely. I saw the note he left beside my phone on the table of the living room. The cook had already prepared the food I was to eat.
I had no appetite, instead, I just stayed in bed all day and the I tried to watch some movies. It was all so empty and I felt really sad.
Still I couldn’t believe Nick had left me even though I knew he had no choice. He would have stayed if he had a choice, I knew how much he cared. So most of the day, I slept, watched movies and slept, I was idle all day and it was really not so comfortable.
In the evening when I woke, the lady was still not around. I picked the phone to call Nick but his phone was switched off. That was like the fiftieth so I practically gave up. If the woman would not be here, well maybe I could go out by myself.
By 6:30pm, I had taken my bath. Packed my hair into a big bun and opted for a pair of jean trousers and a pink top that was slightly opened at the cleavage. I needed some breeze in some parts of my body and Nick was ‘t around so it wouldn’t be as if I was seducing anybody.  I was just locking the door when I heard a familiar voice.
“Hi.”
I turned around and was surprised to see the young man of the other day. I completely forgot his name.
“Hello.” I greeted back. In his face was a pair of transparent sun glasses. He was in a pair of black shorts and a white shirt.
“Are you going out?” He asked.
I almost rolled my eyes at him. What was his own business? There was something about the guy which I couldn’t understand.
“Yes, actually I am. You?”
He shrugged, dipping his hands in his pockets.

. “I wanted to check on Nick if perhaps he would like to grab some bottle of beer. I am extremely bored.

“Wow! That could be nice except that Nick is not home. He travelled this morning.”
He looked surprised. “Oh! I had no idea. Well, I guess I would go home then.”
“Why don’t you hang out with me instead?” I almost bit my tongue as  I said that. I didn’t even like this guy or maybe I did. I just didn’t  trust him.
“Oh! Cool then. Where would you like to go?”  He asked.
I didn’t want him to know I was having a memory loss so I replied, ‘anywhere a gentleman is willing to take me.”
He chuckled at that and then took my hand. ‘Well, it’s good that I am a gentleman so I know where you would love. Shall we?”

Now that Nick is gone, do you think he was wise enough? What about Noah? That guy is really creepy, always showing up at the perfect timing. What do you think he is up to? He is definitely up to no good but we never can tell until we keep reading right?
