Micheal:

"Amelia, i met your daughter" I say as soon as the call connects.

"Oh my God. You met Sarah? My baby girl? Is she okay? Did you tell her

about me? Tell me something!" she yell and i hear her sobs in the

background.

"Amelia, you have to put yourself together. You can't lose control

especially now that we have found her . He can't find out about her.

you know that"i tell her. I can't let amelia end up like my mother. As

soon as that monster found out my mom was trying to quit, he

suffocated her right in front of me and made it seem like suicide. The

cops didn't find anything suspicious. They didn't care to look deeper.

Why would they? My mom was just another young pr-stitute who got

frustrated with life. They didn't look beneath the surface to see an

orphaned young woman who was deceived into pr-stitution and couldn't

get out.

"but i really want to see my baby girl. Its been two decades. She

probably hates me for abandoning her."amelia says and i shake the

painful thoughts out of my head.

"You can't just leave Amelia. What about our plans of saving those

girls that are under him? Your being with him gives us information on

those girls and how to get them out of this life of drugs and abuse"

. I have been saving orphaned children while

mine has been without a mother. Haven't i done enough? Don't i deserve

to be with her? Tell me mike?"

"You do. The both of you deserve to be reacquainted but not at the

expense of her safety. He could have her killed just to get you

back." i try to reason with her.

"Its high time that bastard pays for all his crimes. We have been

cleaning up his mess for too long. We have to eradicate this from the

root" she says and i hear her voice harden.

"Are you sure? His influence reaches everywhere. Police men and

government officials are part of his clients. We can't report him." my

head is already throbbing and i feel a sudden urge to smoke. I have

given up smoking for a year now but this stress is getting to me.

"Going to prison is too lenient for him. We have to end him and i am

the only one who can get close enough to do it"she says and my heart

skip a bit.

"You can't. What if you get caught?"

"I won't"she state firmly.

"We need to talk about this when you come back to the country. Goodbye amelia"

Amelia has been my substitute mother ever since my mother was killed

and she found me three days later crying beside my dead mother. She

had been the one to call the police and she has been hiding me ever

since. The both of us have been working together to get orphans off

the street and away from that monster. She has established various

orphanages all over the country with my name as the owner. That was

how i found Sarah. I was supposed to meet the manager of one of the

orphanage in warri and when i saw her at the eatery, i knew she was

Sarah. She is the carbon copy of amelia from 20 years ago. When i

called her name and she answered, i knew in my bones that she is

amelia's daughter. The meeting with Andrew had been more than

productive when he told me Sarah works there. I'll be taking over

managing that orphanage and thankfully, i can keep an eye on Sarah

before amelia gets back from Paris. I have to think of a way to rid

the world of that monster. A way that doesn't put amelia and her

daughter in harm's way. I can't help but smile as i recall sarah's

beautiful face and how her skin felt on my palm. Looking at her

illuminated my world even just for a few minutes. I could tell that i

affected her before that rock star came and took her away.

I have trained myself to not feel anything these past years but why

was she able to penetrate my ice cold heart. Is this because she looks

so much like amelia, who is the only woman i have ever loved after my

mother? My ringing phone brings me out of my daze.

"what is it?"i bark as i answer it.

"Joy just came back home and she is bloody" what?! Joy is one of the

girls i just found living under the bridge last month. That monster

already prepositioned her before i found her but i have been trying to

get her out before she gets too deep. She is barely 18 years old. She

is too old for an orphanage so i set her up with Mrs claudia. She is a

fashion designer and amelia pays her to teach and cater for girls we

send to her. Mrs claudia called me yesterday telling me joy was

missing and i have been worried ever since.

"clean her up. I'll be there soon" i say and end the call.

"where have you been joy?" she looks pretty bad. Her left eye is

swollen shut and there are bruises all over her face and body.

"I just went to the market to get some materials. On my way back, i

felt like i was being followed but i chucked it up to paranoia. I

remember boarding a taxi before i lost consciousness. When i woke up,

he was there. He threatened to kill me if i don't join him.

accept" she say before bursting into tears.

"I dont want to go back there." She says. I pat her back awkwardly and sigh.

"You won't be going back. You are safe" i tell her but she shake her head.

"No. I want to come with you"she say. I want to say no but the look on

her face get to me. I see my mother in her. Scared and broken. That's

how they all are.

"okay. I'll be leaving for warri tomorrow and you are coming with me.

He won't look for you there" i tell her and she give me a wry smile.
