Falling For Innocence - Episode 22

 

So so sorry for the delay guys. Power supply to my area has been

nonexistent for a week now. Hope this episode would placate y'all.

Jake:

"I just gave her some pain relieve and she will be out for a while" the

nurse tell me after giving amelia a shot.

"Okay. Have you seen her mother?" I ask . Hannah hasn't been back since

she left to go check on the commotion outside daisy's room about an

hour ago. I have been worried about Sarah who was sick last night and

hasn't been answering any of my calls. Could her sickness have gotten

worse? Maybe she is unconscious somewhere in the house without anybody

to help her. All these thoughts have been going through my head for

the long hour that Hannah has been gone. I need to go home to check up

on Sarah but I can't leave Daisy on her own. Hannah's mother is also

nowhere to be found and i can't help my gut feeling that something is

wrong. I have tried calling Hannah but she isn't picking up also.

Maybe she isn't using the same number again.

"I think i saw her leave the hospital with a lady earlier but am not

sure" the nurse say in answer to my question.

"I need a favour from you. Can you help me look after my daughter

until i get back? I won't be gone for long"

"Alright sir

. She would be asleep for awhile but I'll check on her

just to make sure she is asleep while you are gone"

"Thank you nurse. You are a lifesaver" I say and shake her hand. I

notice the faint blush on her cheek and i mentally shake my head.

"Umm sir Jake, can i get your autograph? My daughter is a huge fan and

she would be ecstatic" the nurse ask and i nod. She's doing me a favour

and the least i can do is sign an autograph. She hand me a pen and a

paper.

"what's her name?" I ask

"Glory" she answer and I scribble 'Jake loves glory' on the paper

before signing it and handing the paper and pen back to her.

"oh my God. Thank you" she gush and I smile.

"Daddy has to go now honey but i promise to be back before you wake

up" I say to the sleeping Daisy then peck her temple.

Five minutes later, i am out of the hospital. I remember leaving my

bike at the cemetery and i really despise public transport because it

may be dangerous or downright uncomfortable as a result of my fame. I

spot a small market at the end of the street and decide to get a cap

and a shade for disguise. I bow my head down till i get to the market.

I purchase a cap from a young guy who am sure is contemplating if i

really am Jake or not. The fact that i am shopping in such a

disgusting place is probably the reason why he brushes his suspicion

off because he doesn't make a fuss but just give me a Nike cap and

collect his money.

"Where can i find some dark glasses to buy?" i ask him and he point

toward the back of the market. I look towards where his hand is

pointing and that's when i notice Hannah. What is she doing here? I am

about to call out to her when a huge tout walk up to her and hand her

something in a brown envelope. Hannah collects it and i notice her

bloody hands.

"Who is that guy" I ask pointing to the man with Hannah.The boy shrug

but i can tell he looks scared. I bring a few thousand notes from my

wallet and hand it to him.

"The only thing i know is that he's a violent thug. Rumour has it that

he supplies guns to the youths raiding the street nowadays. I can't

tell you more though."he says. What is Hannah doing with a thug who

supposedly sells guns? I should call her again. I retrieve my phone

from my pocket and dial her number. I watch as she look down at her

phone and ignore the call. So she has been seeing my calls afterall. I

dial again and watch as the thug motion for her to answer it.

"Hello Jake am on my way back to the hospital. I just went for brunch.

I'll call you when i get there. Bye" she says abruptly and end the

call. She is definitely hiding something and am going to find out what

it is. My phone alerts me of a text from Sarah and i quickly click on

it.

Sarah- we have to talk. Come home please. I'll be waiting for you.

The text sounded urgent but i really have to find out what Hannah is

up to. If for anything but my daughter's sake. My daughter can't be

tainted if her mother is involved in something illegal. I better call

Sarah and tell her i am going to be late. I go to call Sarah but my

phone shutdown. Hannah hands another envelope to the tout then walk

towards my direction. I shove the cap on my head and bow my head down

to avoid her recognising me. She dosnt pay me a second glance though.

I follow her from a safe distance until she board a taxi going in

another direction that is entirely different from that of the

hospital.I count ten seconds before i walk out of hiding and board

another taxi who i pay to follow Hannah's taxi.

"Dont lose that car no matter what but try not to be too obvious" i say

then throw some cash on the passenger's seat.The taxi driver give me

the thumbs up and stays right on their trail.

. We follow Hannah until we

get to a secluded part of the city. I have never been here before.I

didn't even know it exists.

"Stop here.Two taxis in a place like this would raise suspicion" I tell

the taxi man who pulls to a halt behind the only completed building in

the surrounding area. I get out of the taxi and crouch behind some

bushes. Hannah's taxi stop in front of what looks like an uncompleted

duplex. I wait for her taxi to drive away and for her to go in before i

get out of hiding and walk towards the building. I can feel my

heartbeat accelerating to the possibility of what's going on inside

that building. Whose blood was on Hannah, what would she need a gun

for and what could she be doing in a secluded uncompleted building. I

finally get to the entrance of the building but change my mind about

going in through the front door.I could get killed. What would happen

to Sarah and Daisy if something happens to me.I walk around the

building to the back and get in through a window. I should have called

the police. I tiptoe through the building till i hear familiar voices.

I peek in to see Hannah with no other person but my father.
