"Don't you think you should tell her?" Claire showed concern as we walked home together after the day's lectures. "Tell who what?" I was bewildered. " I know you too well. I also know you know how to mask your fears and as well your feelings. You've known her for almost three years. You've been in the same university with her for two years, and yet the lion hasn't mastered the art of hunting . Man up buddy" she encouraged. I looked away. "You can't deny it. Neil" "Yes, but I don't know how she'd really take it. You know, girls and ..." She cut me off "If I were you, I'd take my chances" turning to face me. I looked down, pocketed my hands and then back at her, not sure of what to say. "Anyways, Dave is hosting a party tonight; his graduation party. You might want to come" She invited me, smiling. "How you glow when you speak of him" I joked and she flushed. "And you know we never see eye to eye" I commented. "Well, it would have been better if you didn't threaten him" Claire said between clenched teeth's. "I didn't threaten him" I retorted. She eyes me, her jaw raised. I burst into laughter "OK , maybe I did once" She folded her arms and came closer

. "OK, maybe more than once. .... But it wasn't a threat, I only told him I'd have his head if he hurts you" I defended myself... She burst into laughter.. "You should be an actress instead of being a lawyer" I said moving back a bit in case she decided to hit me. "Trust me, there is enough drama in the court room" she said walking backwards. "Young lady, you are sick" I said pointing at her. "You love me still" she replied, a smile twitching the corners of her lips. "Ewwwww... Who would love you, am I Crazy?" I asked smirking. She leashed her mouth with a finger "careful, here comes your heartthrob.... On your six o'clock" she said in a giggle as she crossed over the other side of the road, heading for her hostel.

I turned around and met Mia with a young fine man. I felt a rush of jealousy through my veins as i managed to smile at Mia and shake hands with him. Mia introduced him as Jonathan. "How are you?" I asked facing Mia. "I'm OK. I've been trying to reach you since yesterday" she complained "Oh I'm sorry my battery wasn't charged" I apologised. "On a condition" she said pursing her lips. "Anything for you" I laughed. "I'm very hungry right now. How about a lunch?" She said grinning from ear to ear. "I can handle that. You could have asked. I wouldn't have minded" Jonathan interrupted. "She had someone else in mind, man" I replied, without expression. "I'm not talking to you, let her talk" he retorted . "And since when did you have the right to shut me up" I said walking closer to him. Anger creeping into my dark face. "Guys, what's the point?" Mia yelled as she stepped in between us to face me. I spurn around and in anger I left them, ignoring Mia's callings. My old self hadn't gone away entirely, Claire did a great job but you sure can't change a man.

"...I'd take my chances" not that easy. And really, how you manage those tenses of yours is kinda crafty. Taking us back to the story and carefully bringing us back to the moment. Like we time travelling. Takes genius to see it though
