Brothers - Episode 15

 

They were all laid outside the cottage on different chaises, Isabel adjusted her hat over her eyes to shield herself from the sun rays as she looked at Richard who had been busy typing on his phone, Jessica was applying sunscreen over her legs to her thighs, it was supposed to be a show for Raymond but he wasn't paying any bit of attention to her, he was busy staring at his laptop screen with a huge frown on his face, Jessica, tired of the showbizz which was obviously not working turned to look at her

"I think we should make dinner together"she said

Isabel chuckled"I doubt you know a thing about cooking"

"Depends on what you're making, and I could learn"

"I don't think that's a good idea, I'm okay on my own" Isabel turned a page of her novel, she didn't want anyone smoking the kitchen or burning up herself, Jessica stared at her

"You know we've hardly got to do anything together, it's been a week and  I'm tryna bond, Its usually just you and Raymond talking,.. guess this wasn't such a good idea afterall"she said looking down, she looked forlorn and Isabel felt it was her fault, then decided it wasn't, Jess and Raymond obviously had issues in their relationship before now, Raymond was just facing it now

" I think it won't be so bad, we could make dinner together"she agreed

"Cool, Raymond 'd like that" she said happily, Isabel stared at her

"I think we could start now..leave the guys to do their thing" she said glancing at Richard and Raymond who were engaged in an intense conversation, she figured it was about the company because Raymond looked angry, they both stood up and went inside the cottage...

Raymond looked up at them as they walked away then focused back on what his brother was saying

"I don't think he has any right to sign any document without consulting me first," he insisted

"I'm thinking he felt since you put him in charge in your absence..".Richard was saying

" He just cost me a huge deal..Jacob is a scam ,I've always known it I just thought I should give him the benefit of doubt, I was stupid to trust him in the first place"Raymond said

"I think you should calm down, he was just tying to help, and the deal wasn't that big, you could get others"

"That was important to the company and he signed the document..." he paused "I think we should go home, a lot of things are happening in the company that I'm not aware of and I feel so helpless being here"

"We can't just leave Ray, your girl put a lot of effort into getting us a here, you sure don't wanna let it go to waste"

Raymond just stood up and paced

"Its not gonna mean anything if I get to loose the company that was entrusted to me by father"

Richard stood up and sauntered towards him"you are not gonna loose it, let's just figure this out, you could call him and set him straight, there has to be someone else you trust in the company asides him..."Richard waited and Raymond thought and discovered his brother had more friends than him in the company he was supposedly in charge of

"There's no one"he said" there's no one I can trust"

"Well we shouldn't make any rash decisions" he paused "especially not tonight" he glanced back to be sure the women had gone in

Raymond paused then sighed

"About that..are you sure you wanna do this now?"

"I think it'd be perfect bro..always wanted to just looking for the right time, this seems perfect"

Raymond took in a breathe then looked out as he thought again about the deal he just lost worth millions, Richard seemed to be taking it calmly because he wasn't the one in charge, made him wonder if he really cared about the company or not..Richard walked slowly to him

"Jess seems to think you are cheating" he said, Raymond paused then turned

"yeah but I told her it was stupid thinking.."

"Yeah" Raymond looked down, Richard paused

"I'm right ain't I?" a silence "Ray?"

"I'm not feeling her anymore bro, it's weird but I don't"

Blood drained from Richard's face as he stared at his brother in shock"you serious, bro that chick's the deal man, you used to be so crazy about her"

"Its gone. . all gone.."he sighed

A silence"So who's this new girl?"Richard asked wonderingly

"No one..there's no one"Raymond replied

"Okay, just don't do it bro, its not worth it, don't be like me..I almost lost Isabel, I'm tryna make things right"

There a long silence "You not gonna tell her right?"Raymond asked

"No bro, your secret's safe with me" Richard assured then hit him" let's go see what those women are up to"

They got indoors but were shooed from the kitchen by the women who were slicing and dicing, they decided to share a drink together as they continued on their talk about women...Raymond wondered how he was going to tell him he was in love with his girl...

Isabel tasted the food, then gave to Jess

"Hmm" she moaned"I think we are a good team"Jess hit her in a high five

"Yeah, your not that bad, especially when you're tryna impress"

Jess chuckled "just wish we could go back to how we started, so in Iove, couldn't stay away from each other, almost like you both are now"Jess said

There was a silence, as Isabel's lips got dried,

"Raymond and I have always been friends," she said" He still loves you".

Jess was silent then shook her head

"No, I don't think so"she said

They set dinner and ate in silence

"Mom doesn't seem to like it that you brought us here in the middle of the forest but is happy we are bonding" Richard said

"Guess you lied to her" Raymond chirped in as he cut his meat and put in his mouth, Richard paused on his adding of salad and decided to ignore the comment, he looked at Isabel who was exceptionally quiet tonight, he wondered what was on her mind, they opened a bottle of champagne and popped , after everyone had their glasses filled, he stood up with his in hand

"We've had our fights, beefs and all that but that's what makes us family, I've decided to start mine with the the love of my life.."he took out a red box and went down on one knee in front of Isabel as she stared at him shocked"I know ive been an ass but I'm tryna change and be the man of your dreams, I wanna spend the rest of my life with you babe.

"he finished as he opened the box revealing the biggest diamond ring which sparkled in the dimly lited room, tears formed in Isabel's eyes as Jessica smiled in glee fingers clasped together waiting for the yes...Isabel stood up and walked out of the room leaving Richard kneeling, Raymond had no expression on his face as he met his brother's gaze

" was it the speech?"he asked

"I ll...go check up on her" Raymond left the table after Isabel while Richard looked at Jessica in surprise, Jessica shrugged wonderingly

Who wouldn't say yes to that ring?

*why do you think Isabel ran away,  who is she going choose between the two brothers in the end?
