June’s Pov
I got back into town later that same day and it was a little past three when I returned home. I got home to realize that my parent had gone on their usual trip without informing me and just dropping a letter around.

Mom works for a fashion company while dad is a medical doctor who works in china too and sometimes, when mom is on a company trip to china, they go together.
I never knew who my father was, I was told that he died when I was three years old, a car crash that killed him and left mom in the hospital for months and before I turned six, mom moved on and got married to my stepfather who is also Justine’s father.

Justin’s mom separated from her dad immediately she turned two years and didn’t want anything to do with her anymore.

Read " Imperfection " by the same author ( Penangel )

. Justine was a year older than me and also senior with a grade in school.

I always saw all of us as one family and I wasn’t aware about us not being related until I was in high school when mom told us both about this and this didn’t tear us apart, it actually brought us together even though we were both quite the opposite.

After Justine’s death, everything fell apart at home, dad was having an affair and I heard the woman is already pregnant with his child and mom; she’s trying to ignore the whole issue by drowning herself with work . I just couldn’t stop blaming myself for all this

. This is my fault.

Maybe if I didn’t kill Justine, maybe things will still be fine. Maybe dad won’t have an affair and maybe mom won’t keep drowning herself in alcohol every other night.

The ringing of my phone drew me out of my thoughts and when I picked up I realized it was Harry’s mom calling me.

“Hey June”
“Hi, Aunt Grace” I replied politely
“Are you probably at home now?’ she was aware that I had to go somewhere but I decided not to let anyone of them know that I went somewhere.

“Yes, I just got back. Do you need me to do something?”
“Yes dear, but not now. I need you to help me to bring some of the snacks that I made to the party around seven because I don’t think I can manage them all. You can stay a bit at the party to also help me dear” I wanted to reject and come up with any excuses that’ll make me not to go but Aunt Grace has been really nice to me these past few months so I decided….
“Okay Aunty, I’ll be there later before that time then” I agreed and she thanked me before dropping the call.

Later that evening, I helped Aunt Grace get the confectionaries from the car and into the party, that was when I realized it was an A list party.

Though the number of guests that arrived already were small, yet the guest’s oozes money and as much as I’ve tried to make myself absent from these types of parties, I don’t think I can escape it thus time.

As I got into the kitchen where im to put down the stuffs, I felt a light  tap on my shoulder and when I turned back, I saw nemesis staring down at me in form on human.

“Holy mary, why hath thou graced this unholy event?” I fisted my hands so tight that I felt bood stopped running for a while as I stare at Jessica looking at me with all the hatred in the world.

We grew up together in town and we were in the same calss too before fate brought us together at NYU. I remembered all the memories so hard now that I wanted to cry.

She came in form of an angel in college but turned out to be the worst, when I say worst, I mean a devil.
“I thought your parents are rich, did they finally disown you after you killed your sister?” one of the barbies standing beside her chipped in and I couldn’t help the tears from falling.

“Don’t talk about what you don’t know, Monica” I cautioned her

“what I know is what I said and what I said is the truth. Youre a sly bitch. We all know what you did to your siter and don’t you try to fight us because we’ll end up letting the whole town know about your little secret before we go back to paris” The last I heard about the three of them was that after graduation, they’re now in Paris and they own a fashion and travel blog which is really quite popular over there.

“you know what? I’m just going to walk away from here like nothing of such happened because if I don’t, we all will regret it and because I’m more matured than the queen witch which is you Jessica and her trio called useless ugly barbies, ill walk out of here” I dropped the cake I’ve been carrying and walked towards the door before I heard one of them calling me a sister killer. I just ignored them and walked out but couldn’t ignore the pain in my chest and I swear I felt like dying at that moment.

I walked out of the magnificent gate and I could feel the tears building up again, trying not to cry and scare passerbys, I held it in until a heavy rain started and then I knew it was a message from God to cry it all out for the second time that day.

I cried even though the rain drenched the tears before they could reach my face and I called out my sister’s name in the rain like a mad woman, hoping she will hear me and answer my calls that I’m sorry for everything.

*“In your hearts is embedded the invisible pains
In your heart are invisible scars
Ones you can never get rid off
But scars aren’t signs of weakness,
It’s a proof that you were stronger than what could have killed you,
That you, yes you, are powerful
More than your pain”*
