Agony Of The Heart - Episode 6

 

Just as he was about to undress you,I rushed in and stopped him. I couldn't let him take away your pride just like that. I remembered you told me you want to give it to your husband. I didn't want to regret my action,so I stopped him........He didn't want to let you go but when my friends heard my voice and came in,he released you. I didn't want to bring disgrace to you . Uyoyo said.
Sarah saw how emotional Uyoyo was and quickly hugged her.
Thank you sister,am indebted to you. Sarah said. 
Uyoyo noticed tears was suddenly gathering in her eyes so she quickly pushed Sarah away.
Please it's okay.You are welcome. Uyoyo said quietly.
Sarah patted her on the back and turned to leave,she remembered something and turned back to Uyoyo.
Sister,can I ask you one last question? Sarah asked.
What is it? Uyoyo quickly reply. She felt her sister had started to bother her.
Where did you get the money you gave me from? Sarah asked, not wanting to waste her sister's time.
Well,it was from the money I earned the night before. Can you please leave now? She said flashing a frown at Sarah.
Sarah didn't want to trouble her anymore,so she said thanks again and went to prepare the evening meal.

Sarah was now very close to her class teacher, she saw Joseph as the big brother she never had. She was so happy he had helped her at the right time

. She had taken his clothes to the river that morning to help him wash. When she got back, Joseph was about cooking so she quickly hanged the clothes on the line and came to help him. When the food was ready,they both ate together, then she went home. She was so fond of Joseph. The next day she went to visit him,when she got to his place,he wasn't at home.
I forgot he will still be at school at this hour. She said to herself.
She decided to quickly go to the river to help him fill the blue plastic drum outside with water. 
Joseph got back and saw her with a bowl of water on her head. He helped her drop the plastic bowl.
Sarah,its okay for today,let me quickly bring you food. 
He went inside and brought her a plate of rice. 
Sarah finished eating and thanked him.
Uncle,there is something I want to tell you. Sarah said as she dropped the plate in the kitchen.
Yes,am all ears. Joseph relied.
My WAEC result is out. And..........She said stammering.
Don't tell me you failed. Joseph said looking at Sarah.
Well, I really tried my best,I read a lot but my result still came out.....came out. She stammered.
Am sorry dear,you will have to try again next year. Joseph said looking at the hopeless girl.
Well uncle,I passed. Sarah shouted.
You what? Come here. Sarah ran to him and Joseph kissed her on the lips. 
Am so sorry. He said quickly seeing the way Sarah reacted. She was so shocked,she couldn't say anything. She couldn't look at his face,so she bowed her head and told him she needed to go and tell her parents the good news and left.
Joseph slapped himself after seeing Sarah to the front door.
Joseph,she be your student,you no fit touch this one o,she no be Vera and Faith. He said to himself. He kept staring at Sarah as she walked away until he couldn't see her again. 
That is just the first move. The next one will be well calculated. He thought.
Sarah got home thinking about the kiss Joseph had given her earlier that day. 
What is uncle trying to do? She asked herself and just then Uyoyo walked him.
You look like you've seen a ghost. Uyoyo said.
She wasn't sure about what happened so she hid it from her.
Nothing. Just thinking about something. Sarah said.
Uyoyo didn't bother to ask her what was wrong with her seeing she wasn't ready to talk,so she left.
Weeks later, Joseph sent one of his students to call Sarah,she had refused to go to his place since the incident with him.
Sarah visited him two days later and wouldn't enter the house until Joseph almost knelt begging. She  entered his house and sat on a wooden chair.
Sarah, well....I called you here to let you know of my feelings for you.......
