Adele - Episode 4

 

For what seems like the hundredth time, Adele checked her phone to see if Femi has called her, but the screen just stared back at her. She rolled over on her bed and streched towards where her ipod is, she selected a song from  whitney houston- 'i look to you' and  she plugged in her headphone to listen to the song, she loved the lyrics and as she mumbled along with whitney houston, she reflected back on the success of the day, and start thinking of what she will wear to work on monday. "i need to look good and smart" she thought, though her wardrobe is not so full of fashionable office cloths, she decide to work on what she has and with the salary they will be paying her, she hope to buy new office cloths.
       

        Bibiola was very happy when she heard that Adele got the job, but that means she will have to get an housemaid very fast, for Adele will now be busy, she hoped to do that before she resumed back to work from her three weeks leave . For a forty year old, Bibiola looked like she is in her thirties, she is plump and light tone in complexion, her hair is on low cut that she curls which makes her to look very pretty, it hard for people to imagine that she already had two beautiful kids.
             Bibiola works with the star bank, so she is always busy  but she finds time to take care of her home,  although her husband comes home only on weekends and leave again for lagos when the weekends end, they both try to make sure that their children are well trained and taken care of when they are around. Bibiola knows that any time soon lanre will arrive, for it friday.

As she was thinking of calling his phone, a car drove into the compound, and lanre came in after parkimg and locking the gate properly, "hi, darling how was your trip, hope not too stressful" she asked, and accompanied the greeting with a warm loving kiss, "not bad, just a little traffic you know how lagos ibadan way can be" he replied.
      The kids were already asleep and bibiola presume that Adele is also asleep, so lanre was able to quickly have his bath and eat.  In the comfort of their bedroom Bibiola updates her husband on Adele new job, he was very happy and proud of her, they both agreed to give her some cash, in other for her to buy some new office cloth. 

        Adele was carried away with the music so she did not know when Lanre came inside the house, she scrolled through her phone, till she reached Femi's number she was about to dial it, when she decided against it, she had already called him earlier in the day but he did not answer his phone, Adele felt that if he saw the missed calls he was suppose to call her back, it was already late so she switched off her ipod and prepare to sleep, the thought of Femi lingers on her mind.

   "Thank God we made it look how far we've come my baby....." Adele woke up to the ringing tone of shain twain on her phone, without even checking to know who is calling her early in the morning for she knows already, "hi sweetie"  Adele answered the phone "hello my love, good morning i just love hearing your voive early in the morning it always sound sweet and melodious ,you know"  Femi drawled in his husky voice, "am sorry i missed your calls, and i did not call back yesterday, i was very busy with work and all"  "okay i forgive you, but you got me all worried i was really hoping to talk to you yesterday, dearie"  "alright baby i promise i will make it up to you, so whats up? I remember you told me you are going for an interview yesterday, how did it go?" "well....." Adele drawled "that was why i was calling you yesterday, i got the job"  "wow, thats nice to hear, you know what?. Am going to take you out today so that we can celebrate it".   Adele was very excited with what Femi said, "so darling where are you taking me, so i can know what to wear?" she she asked. "well, there is a new movie at the cinema, how about we go there?  Femi knew  that Adele love movies, so he was very sure she will love the idea. "that wil be awesome, so what time will you come over to pick me?"  "that will be around 2pm, i need to run some errands for mum, after that i will pick you up, okay?" he replied. "okay darling i will be waiting, i love you..bye" and the call ended.

       "Sister Adele, my daddy is calling you!" Tola shouted, " and so you must scream as if there is microphone in your throat"  Adele reprimand her. Adele left her room and went to the sitting room where the family were watching the television, "am here uncle"   Lanre who was reading the newspaper, turned towards her, "yes i wanted to give you this" Lanre extended a ward of one thousand naira notes toward her, "since you will be starting work soon, and you dont have enough office wears, your aunty and i, have decided to give you some cash, use it to buy some", adele was very happy "thank you sir, and thank you ma" she knelt and greeted them.  
  Lanre and Bibiola sees Adele as their first child for  they had a little delay before giving birth to thier own children, and when the family decided to hand ten year old Adele over to their care the couple accepted, and they tried their best to support and provide for her needs. 

   Adele was in high spirit, for she can't wait to see Femi and coupled with the fact that she now has money to buy new wears, thanks to her uncle and aunty. It almost 2pm, and she was already dressed, she wore a nice fitting green polo shirt with a blue pencil jeans to match it, her feet were encased in a black leather sandal, she brushed her long weavon hair to frame around her face, her make up was done moderately, she was looking her best.
     Adele was getting impatient, for it already 3pm and femi is yet to show up she picked her phone from her handbag and dialled his number, after ringing for a few times, Femi answered "hello baby, am so sorry i was just about to call you, i won't be able to take you out again, am still running errands for mum, am sorry i will make it up to you" Adele was annoyed, for she was all dressed up for nothing and this is not the first time that Femi will stood her up, all because he is running errands for either his mum or dad. "you know this is not the first time you will cancel on me? There is no problem, thank you for raising my hopes up" Adele fired at him  and she disconnects  the call.
