Adele - Episode 3

 

 "Good afternoon, sir" adele greets, "good afternoon, and you may be sitted" richard looked at the young lady, and what first came into his mind was how  young she looked, he had already received her cv so he knows she is twenty-five, he wondered if she will be capable for the job, but he trust mr Alao judgement so he decided to be open minded about her. 
"Am sure you know that you will be working for me if am to employ you, so tell me why i should employ you when you dont even have experience, and i have people that are experienced vying for this same job?" Richard asked in a crisp voice. Adele breath in, and with a smile answered "thank you very much sir, I know that i may not have years of working  experience but atimes life experience go beyond work experience, and that i have sir, i know that am young but i learn everyday, if you employ me sir i promise to do my very best and you will not be disappointed" Adele finished, praying in her mind that she has said the right thing.
 Richard looked at her and decided to give her a chance, he was impressed by the confidence she showed, but he still want to test her further, to know how observant she is, "miss Adele Junaid, in this company there is no room for incompetence, nor do I allow mediocres to have a field day, and I hope you are honest and observant?"  "yes sir" Adele replied humbly . "one other thing, i hope you wiped your shoes properly on the foot mat outside my door, for I dont like dirt inside my office" Richard fired at her.
Adele was seriously confused, for she did not notice any foot mat by the door step and she didnt want to lie, "am sorry sir but I did not notice any foot mat by the door sir" she replied

. Richard was amazed that she took note of that little fact, for indeed there is no foot mat by his door. "impressive, you are hired"
She was dazed, she almost jumped out of her sit, a lot of thought were running through her head. "thank you sir, am sure you will not regret it sir" she smiled. 

Adele walked out of coker richard building with all smile, she was so happy she cannot even contain her joy, she brought out her phone and dialled Tiwalade's number, "hello, girlfriend guess who is the new P.A to the CEO of coker richard technology?..it me! "she screamed, "go girl, wow am so happy for you sweetie now you have joined the league of the working class baby, you know what come around to my office and we will go for my lunch break together" Tiwa said with a lot of enthuasism. "alright dearie, i will reach you in a bit" adele replied.
 She flagged down a cab, "premier holdings" she told the cab drive. "na fifty naira o, and i dont have change o" the cab driver informed her. Adele checked her bag to be sure if she has fifty naira change, and when she saw one she entered the cab, and the car gain speed. Adele twisted a lock of hair around her left index finger as she stared out from the moving vehicle, she was lost in her day dream when the driver announced that they will soon reach premier holdings, she paid her fare and readjust her dress as the cab draw close to the place adele will alight.
        The cab pulled to a stop and Adele alighted from the cab, she walked into premier holdings building and call her friend "friendship mi, am inside your reception area, come out" Adele drop the call and wait for  Tiwa to show up, and after a moment a young lady showed up, she is tall and a little bit fleshy, with nice curves in right places, the skirt suit she was wearing looked like she just stepped out of a fashion magazine. Tiwalade smiled as she saw her friend, "Adele, am so happy for you, this calls for a celebration let go  to a nice eatery and you can gist me all about what happen". Adele laughed, and hand in hand they walked out to where Tiwa parked her car.
 
  
      Tiwalade  manoeuvre the car around the busy road of  Challenge, being careful of the reckless drivings of the danfo drivers, the sun was glaring down angrily like no man's business, it was stifling hot. "wind up your glass adele, so that i can switch on the AC". Tiwa ask Adele.  Adele wind up, and tease her friend "you and this your Air conditional, dont you know that too much of everything is bad", tiwa rolled her eyes at her friend "i dont think so, anyways i cant just breathe in this heat and besids am used to it". 
  Adele just smiled, for she knows that Tiwalade cannot live without that luxury, she is from a rich home and things like that are just something that she is  used to. Adele and Tiwalade go way back, they both graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife. They met when they were both doing their course registration , and from there a strong friendship started. Tiwalade is from a wealthy home, the Ajagbe's are well known in the city of ibadan, chief Bolaji Ajagbe is a known politician, but Tiwa  never behave uncultured nor snubbish with Adele, Adele even find it hard to believe that she could be so humble.

. Since then both of them have grown closer, Adele knows that tiwa will do anything for her and she will do the same.
       "back to earth, Adele what are you thinking that you looked so carried away?" Tiwa asked. "sorry dear, nothing much i was just thinking of how far we've come, since undergraduate days."  she replied with a smile.  The red corrola car pulled to the eatery car park, and Tiwalade and adele stepped out, and walked to the resturant, the door was opened for them by the security man. 
     They both decided to choose a place by the window so that they can enjoy the outside view, the waitress came to meet them to ask for their order, after a moment of teasing each other Adele and Tiwa decided to both order for chips and chicken with a nice cold juice  to go with it, and the waitress left to attend to their order. 
 "you made me order for chips and chicken again" Adele glared playfully at Tiwa, "well, we are siamese twins so we will both have the same thing, and stop doing as if you dont love chips" Tiwalade joked back.
 "I hope you remember to tell the waitress to put plenty butter for the chips o" Adele was laughing as she asked Tiwa. Tiwalade cannot help but remember the butter joke,  on that fateful day they had  both went to the shopping mall to buy some toiletries that tiwa needed, and they decided to buy chips and chicken before leaving the mall, so they joined the line of people waiting to get their order, the woman infront of Tiwa and adele was busy telling the attendant to add more butter to her chips, and people were baffled on how she will use butter to eat chips, and they dont even have butter for chips in the first place untill they realised it was ketchup she was demanding for. Reflecting back on that day caused tiwa to laugh too. "you will see there won't be any butter for you" she replied.
  As they started eating their chips, Adele gist tiwa on how her interview went, Tiwa listened with rapt attention,  "wow you mean the man test you about the whole foot mat thing!, am happy that you did not fail o, i trust you any way. Thank God that you had the job"  said tpTiwa.  Adele  was all smiles "that reminds me i will need to call Goke and thank him, for the heads up on the job" said Adele. "no problem dear, lets finish our meal so that i can go back to work." Tiwa replied.  They both finished their meal, and walked outside, "i really enjoyed myself, thanks for taking me out" " what are friends for" replied Tiwa.   she opened her car and they both entered, the car gained speed to join the busy traffic.
