Okay..i think this story is taking too long jare…we will be wrapping it up soon….

ANIKA

While I looked at him lying down on the bed…so many thoughts were filling my mind. So many that I was even afraid of sharing with Lisa who was sitting beside me.

I had come to join her in Vincent’s room . Tommy wanted to take Freddie for a walk, the doctor said it was necessary for the surgery so I used the chance to quickly check on Tommy.

I just needed to say all these out even as ridiculous as they may sound.

“Are you okay ANika?” Lisa asked me.

I was surprised she showed concern.

“Yea. I mean no… I just….” My brows deepened and I squinted my eyes, standing up and moving closer to Vincent.

His eyes were closed and he wasn’t flinching.

“Is it possible..that….” I started and stopped.

She stood up and came closer to me. We were both standing, looking down at Vincent.

“You can say what you want to say.”  She said.

“It’s stupid Lisa….i just keep…thinking about Freddie’s father being Vincent. I don’t understand I mean

. Look at this…we met, we have been meeting …he had this thing he used to do when he gets carried away..it was the thing Fred used to do for me, to show that he still loved me…”I took Lisa’s hand and rubbed my thumb against her palm and then let go of it. “and now…his blood matches Freddie’s which isa chance in a million. Please Lisa, tell me I’m not going crazy? They do not like alike and yet….I am going insane.”

She smiled and sat down by the edge of the bed.

“You should follow your instincts.” She said.

“What does that mean?”

“It means what it means Nika.”

“I don’t understand Lisa. It’s not possible….”

“Why do you think so?”

“Because they do not have any physical feature in common and Fred died long time ago.”

“Did you see his body?”
“He was burnt to ashes and….”

“There could have been his remains….”

I stopped. My heart was beating fast.

“You have never heard of plastic surgery or replacement of facial identity?”

“What are you talking about Lisa?” my chest was rising and falling.

She smiled and pulled a seat closer. “I think you need to take a seat. I rescued a man six years ago from a fire that occurred in the building which the Lyon gallery now owns…”

NARRATOR’S POV

She could feel the tension begin like a cluster of spark plugs in her abdomen…her  breathing becoming more rapid…. As she listened to every word that came out of Lisa’s mouth, she was looking from both Lisa to Vincent. Her limbs and her salty tears which were darkening her sleeves were the only movement that Anika was making.

The thoughts that Vincent was Fred was accelerating in her head….her own Fred…

She has always had this thought but she thought it was crazy. Now everything was just as she had thought.

“He stormed out angrily and a car ran him over….that is why he is unconscious.  Whoever killed him the first time might be alive still so we need to be really careful. That is why I’ve been keeping things really low from him. I am so worried he might hate me for it when he wakes.” Lisa concluded but Anika was already standing again, placing her palm firmly against Vincent’s cheek. Her eyes were cloudy with tears and her whole body was trembling with shock of joy.

“Oh Freddie! I knew it was you! I just wasn’t sure….” She was shedding tears and as each tear dropped, some dropped on Vincent’s face. She cleaned them away with her thumb. She was sobbing loudly now.

“I do not want to lose you again knowing that you are not dead Fred. I can’t lose you now! Please come back to me and your child. You two have been connected from the first meeting, you need to come back and be the father of your child.”

As Anika bent to place her lips on Vincent’s, Lisa looked away , wiping the tear away from her own eyes.

“Please come back to me….” Anika whispered closely into his ears, brushing her lips lightly against his, her tears, dropping on Vincent’s eyelids….

“I can’t believe that now that I know you, I will be losing you again….” She sobbed burying her head in his chest….

Just then, she felt a hand brushed back her hair, tucking it behind her ear…she held her breath.

“You are not losing me baby….”

Lisa and Anika were shocked as they heard a third voice. They glanced at each other, then at Vincent whose eyes were now opened and who was smiling weakly.

Lisa held her hands to her mouth, not believing what she was seeing with the tears of joy flooding down her cheeks.

Anika and Vincent gasped at each other, now holding hands….

She couldn’t believe her eyes….

“Vincent..you can  talk….I mean…Fred,….i mean….”

“It’s Fred Anika. I feel perfectly fine and I remember everything that happened.”

Lisa watched as the two hugged and finally kissed. She sighed, feeling completely out of place and little sad. So she stood up and was walking out of the room….

“Lisa!”

Her heart missed a beat as she heard him call her name for the first time…she felt goosebumps all over her…

She turned around, trying as much as possible to stop the tears.

“Come closer please.” Vincent said as Anika left to call the doctor and to check her son.

Vincent held Lisa’s hands firmly,

“I owe you my life and everything. I am sorry for being angry with you but now I know you did what you had to save me. You are a good person Lisa. You did the right thing by not telling me when you found out everything. You did it to protect me and I appreciate you for that” He kissed her hands before finally pulling her closer to hug her.

“Why did you marry him Anika?”

Vincent demanded some minutes later after the doctor had left.. He was standing close to the window while Anika was on the bed with Lisa on the chair. Joe was standing by the door listening.

“I am sorry Fred. I didn’t know he was the one you were talking about when you said you got a new job. You never told me his name. he was nice and kind and he reminded me of you with your talents. So I just thought I was doing the right thing.”

“He stole my lifeworks Anika! Lisa, do you remember those art works we saw the first time we entered the gallery?”

Lisa nodded.

“Those are my works. I went with the prototype the day I was killed. He must have taken it when I died before the whole house burnt down! Now he is feeding off of my life works, he has also made my wife and kid his own family!” He shouted angrily slamming his hands against the wall.

“Look son, you need to take it cool, you just survived a coma! Also I need to ask the doctor some things so, I will be right back. “ Joe left.

“I am sure he would have realized everything since he is a very smart man. That means you and Freddie are not safe! You need to go see if Freddie is back, find a way that you both can leave this hospital and go to a place he can never find out.” Lisa put in.

“That’s true.

. He is a very dangerous man Anika!” Vincet continued. “ He told me he has been watching me since he noticed I had a good talent. He knew your name even before I told him. he said I had a good family and that I should sell my art works to him unless I wanted him to hurt my family! I should have listened to you when you asked me not to leave you that day. He is a shady man Anika!”

Anika sighed. “I feel he had something to do with Loretta’s death too. She showed me the picture you drew, you remember her?”

Vincent nodded. “Yea. You both used to work together.”

“She is dead. She drowned the second day I got in touch with her and the pictures she gave me were found by little Freddie in Tommy’s office.”

“Wow! No more talk Anika.  Go get our son from that room, find an excuse to give him. once he leaves, we can take you both somewhere! Do not make him suspicious!”

Anika nodded quickly and ran out of the room.

“What happened Lisa?” Vincent asked as Lisa kept dialing a number.

“My dad’s number is not reachable anymore and now its saying switched off.”

Just then Anika rushed in, breathing heavily.

“Guys! Freddie is gone! Tommy left a letter! He knows everything and hes taken Freddie to somewhere we don’t know and…and….I think your father has been kidnapped too Lisa!”
