Prosper's pov:

its been five years and my feelings for tessy has intensified. I

always think of her. I always dream of her and i always wish she is

mine. Now, i want to make it official between us. I want her to be

mine forever. For the past five years, i have been by her side as she

transformed from a teenage girl to a stunning young woman. I consoled

her during her mourning and helped in the search for olivia even

though that wasn't productive . Through all this, i was silently

seeking forgiveness for how my naivete caused her, her family. Now,

she is so full of hate and want for revenge. I try to dissuade her in

her search for revenge. Thank God she doesn't know who is behind it.

My very own father!. If she knows about this, i am sure that she would

never forgive me. I am never going to tell her about my father. I want

her for myself and that information would hinder it. I feel like the

truth is gonna get out soon. My dad is suspicious and he keeps asking

about tessy ever since he saw me with her three months ago. The only

way for me to keep her forever is through marriage. I have to convince

her to marry me so it would be difficult for her to leave me when she

finds out my involvement in her family's demise

. I have been looking

for an opportunity to propose for months now. I had even purchased a

platinum ring with a huge diamond two months ago. I had been passing

through when i saw it. It's beautiful just like my tessy. God has

finally given me the opportunity to propose. Tessy is going to warri

to visit ese and i would propose there. The hotel would be a nice

setting and i could surprise her as she would expect me there. Yes,

that's what I'll do. There will be flowers scattered on the floor,

candles, romantic lighting, music and champagne. Yea, tessy would love

it. It'll be like a scene from one of those romantic novels tessy

always read. I nod my head as ideas swamp it and excitement makes my

blood buzz. This would work. Three days later, i am Set to go. I tell

tessy that i'm leaving for abuja to visit a friend. She believes me

and remind me of her trip to warri which was some hours later  and i

feign disinterest.

As soon as i am out of the airport, i board a taxi and head to a

flower shop where i purchase a single rose. Tessy doesn't like

extravagance or else, i would have bought her all the flowers in the

shop. I take the single rose and head straight to the hotel. I collect

the key card and with a little bribe, i put the receptionist on

watching duties. She is to inform me when tessy gets here. I give her

a description of tessy and ask her to give tessy a key card to our

room. I also ask her not to inform tessy of my presence.

When i get to the room, i see that it has already been arranged as i

asked. I nod in satisfaction then pour the champagne into the glasses.

My hands are sweaty because of anxiety and i practice my speech in

front of the mirror in the bathroom to pass time. I hear the phone

ringing and i race to pick it. Its the receptionist. Tessy is on her

way up. I send a little prayer to the heavens then wipe my sweaty

palms on my trousers before picking up the rose and the ring. I am so

nervous. What if she rejects me? No, she has to accept. There is no

other guy in her life except me. She would accept, atleast out of

gratitude for all i have done for her. I don't want her to accept

because of gratitude but i would take anything she can give me. I hear

the door click open and i kneel with one leg. She looks stun. Please

accept me. Please. I beg silently

"prosper, what are you doing here?" she asks as soon as she overcomes her shock.

"I'm proposing"i say. Oh,i am such an idiot. Who says that?. I am too

nervous.

"what? To who?"

"to you baby. For so long i have been looking for this opportunity to

make you mine, please say you'll marry me. I know its sudden and we

are not even dating but know that i love you. You are my everything.

Pleas say yes" i ramble

"prosper, i--i --cant"

"why?. We could start with dating but just accept please" i beg"or is

there someone else?"

"no, ofcourse not. Prosper this is something that shouldnt be rushed.

I promise to think about it" she says and runs out of the room. I go

to follow her but decide to give her space to think. She must be

overwhelmed right now. I hope i haven't spoilt everything with my

haste. I stand up from my kneeling position when i feel my phone buzz.

Its a text from my father.

Dad- prosper, you have to come back home. You are needed in the company
