Prosper's pov:

"i want to see olivia" tessy says as soon as she opens her eyes. She

has been unconscious ever since i brought her in and the doctor said

it was because of shock and immense pain. Her hand was in a sling to

suspend her shoulder which has a fractured scapula. It must hurt alot

but she cant possibly feel it now because of the pain killers that was

given to her when i brought her in.

"olivia cant see you right now, the doctors do not want a kid in here

right now. But i promise to bring her to you when they permit it" i

lie to calm her down.

"so she is fine right?"

"yea, not a scratch on her"

"okay" she says and her eyes flutter close probably because of her medication.

As soon as she is sound asleep, i go to the doctor's office

"how is she doctor?"

"she is going to be fine. She just need to wear the sling for a month

to allow the shoulder to heal. Once she is conscious we would need to

do an x-ray scan to check if the glenoid and the neck of the shoulder

blade is affected"

"what would happen if they are affected?"

"from the look of it, i don't think they are but if they are, she

would need an orthopedic surgeon which costs alot. I won't be able to

help you with that prosper

"okay. Thanks so much for your help sir"

"its no bother. Your mother donated alot in this hospital before she

died. Its an honour to help you"i stand

"alright. I want this to be kept secret. Nobody can visit her and

please don't inform my dad about this"

"you have my word" he says standing up and shaking my hand.

After i leave his office, i go back to the site of the accident to

find olivia. Its been two hours since the accident and i hope she is

still there. When i got there, the crowd which was there before had

dissipated leaving a few people who kept staring. I look around but i

don't see olivia. Oh no. I am panicking. Tessy would not want to hear

this. I walk around and ask the people around if they saw a little

girl of about five years. Nobody seem to have seen her. I keep asking

until i see my dad's car parked by the bridge. He isn't inside the car

but he must be around. I have to leave. I know if i leave, my chances

of finding olivia would be simmer but i cant risk getting tessy

caught. I cant let him see me. I look for a way of exit then i see my

bike parked close by. I rush to where it is parked, kick start it,

then zoom off towards the hospital checking my mirror every few

minutes to see if i am being followed. I divert to a eatery and buy

some food for me and tessy. Its already night time and tessy is still

asleep. I set the bag of food on her bedside table then sit on the

chair beside her bed. I look at her troubled sleeping face. Her world

have definitely come crashing down. All because of my ignorance. I

place my hand on her left hand which is free of needles and squeeze

it.

"i am so sorry tessy" i whisper.

"sorry for what" she says. I look up and see she is awake. Her voice

sounds cracked and broken. I stand up then pour some water into a cup

and hand it to her. She nods her thanks then drink the water.

"thanks prosper. You brought me here right?"

"yes, i was driving by when i saw the car of the man that picked you

up from school today get hit by a truck. I helped get you out" she

closes her eyes at the memory.

"where are the rest of my family?"

"umm. They are fine"

"where are they?. I need to see them"

"you cant move right now. I will take you to them once the doctor permits it."

"promise?"

"promise. Now you have to eat" i cant tell her about her family right

now. She's not yet emotionally stable. I set the food in front of her,

then help her sit up.

. She just stare at the food and i realise that

she is just wondering how she would feed herself with her injured

shoulder. I take the spoon, scoop some food and lift it to her mouth.

"ah" i say. Her lip twitch but she opens it and eat the food.

"this is weird" she says around her mouthful.

"you should be honoured" i joke and she smiles

"thank you" she say sincerely, looking me straight in the eyes and my

blood warms and my heart skips. Be still my heart. This is not the

time for this. I admonish myself"i never knew you had a nice bone in

that body of yours" she says jokingly. And i smile. I feed her some

more before her eyes become drowsy and she falls asleep on me. I hold

her for awhile before i lay her back on the bed. I check to see its

already 8:23pm but i still go out on my bike to search for olivia in

hospitals close by, thinking maybe she was hurt and someone admitted

her. My search is futile and i don't find her.
