The Twist - Episode 36
From Ruby's POV
Ruby was only half way to the nearby super market when she heard the gun shots.
She hide near the massive pillar of a house nearest to her and peep towards the road.
More gunshots erupted the air as people screamed.
A minute later the gate of the house opened and Bashir rushed out with his gun.
Ruby was startled.
What is Bashir doing inside another man's house? She watched him raced back towards the road with his gun held in position.
Panic stricken; Ruby followed him blindly and almost toppled ontop of him when Bashir suddenly hit the ground, aimed his gun at an exiting blue Honda CRV and released a single shot at the car.
He missed.
Ruby was in a confused state.
"Bashir what is happening? What is going on?"
The words tumbled out of her trembling lips.
Bashir ignored her and rushed to the Rolls Royce.
Chidimma was lying near the car bleeding.
He checked her pulse, stood up, looked around frantically and seemed to noticed Ruby for the first time.
"She is still alive. Take her to the hospital . Call Mark immediately and informed him. I am going after them"
Bashir said and entered the Rolls Royce.
"Who are they? Where is madam? Talk to me please!"
Bashir was already engaging the gear.
He reversed the car and tore down the crescent towards the express road.
Ruby looked around the empty street in utter confusion.
She carried Chidimma and ran towards the express road...

. Uche's POV
Dr. Uche just stared at his long time friend.
He could not believe what he heard.
"You are mad. Absolutely crazy"
"Uche this is not the time for blame. I was drunk. I couldn't help it."
"Where is the girl now?"
Asked Dr. Uche.
"I don't know. She have disappeared all of a sudden. Amaka is not making things easier for me, I would have asked her for the girl's contact."
Replied Mark. Dr. Uche sat for a moment thinking.
This is a difficult situation.
He knew Mark is in trouble the moment he walked into his office.
He had been in the surgery since morning while Mark waited for him in his office.
Now look at what Mark is telling him! He sighed and stared at Mark pitifully.
"I don't think she will report you to the police or your wife. But we must find her fast."
"Let's forget about this girl Ruby for the moment, my concern is Nkiru"
"Searching for Nkiru will be a difficult task. The last time I checked, her people claimed they don't know her whereabouts"
"Which is a lie. Her elder brother refused the money I gave him. Only the younger one collected his own and travelled to China with it. They knew where she is"
Mark said.
His desperate face showed he really wanted to see Nkiru by all means and pray she will find a place in her heart to forgive him.
With his millions, he can afford to set her up nicely.
Mark remembered how much the blackmailers collected from him and vowed to give Nkiru half of his wealth which amounts to N300 million naira if he eventually set his eyes on her.
"But what do you plan to do if you see her?"
Dr. Uche asked Mark.
"I will beg her for forgiveness.

Dr. Uche smiled. Mark will never change.
He thinks money is everything.
"The Nkiru I knew might not even accept a dime from you. Anyway, We will check on her people once more. I think if we insist they will tell us."
Mark's Phone rang and he picked it.
"Hello, who is this? Ruby? Where are you? What! My daughter? Which hospital? I am on my way"
Mark cut the call and sprang up.
"My daughter is injured and she has been rushed to a nearby hospital."
"Oh, Chidimma right? What happened to her??"
Asked Dr. Uche concerned.
"I don't know yet. I need to go there now."
"Its alright. I would have love to accompany you but this is office hour. Transfer her to this place if the injury is fatal."
Dr. Uche offered. Mark shook hands with him and rushed out of the office...

Bashir is making a mistake by following them, he should report instead. What if they overpower him. He should let his mind work over his emotions
