The Twist - Episode 33

 

"Are you afraid?"

"No boss"

the junkie replied Romeo.

"Then why are you sweating like this?"

The junkie was silent.

He was not comfortable with this operation but the thought of earning another million had made him to accepted it.

He wiped his face with a dirty handkerchief and try as much as possible to look calm.

He needed a fix badly.

His supplier had told him he will give him enough fix once he pay up.

He was not only afraid of the job but also the two new lads he met in the car when he arrived.

His boss often changes his gang members and how he managed to keep up with the rotation baffled the Junkie.

Romeo was a shrewd, intelligent and smart criminal.

The constant rotations was a precaution and this made his gang members not to be familiar with each other.

He knew they might be reckless when spending their loot so when any of the gang members was caught, the implications are next to zero.

The junkie knew all this but he was still afraid.

He knew the reason why he has not be caught yet was because most of his money goes to his supplier.

One of the gang members was caught last month spending his millions and when tortured; he confessed that Romeo only approached him when there is an operation.

He knew practically nothing about him.

The culprit faced the jail sentence alone.

The Junkie had been close enough to realized his boss had chains of other business and estate around Lagos.

Though he kept this to himself, he knew Romeo won't hesitate to shoot him if he gets to know his little secret was already out in the open.

The Junkie stole a glance at the figure sitting beside him in the Honda CRV.

The lad look vicious enough to eat raw human flesh. He is a kid of 20 years and had a big scar that ran across his nose down to his right cheek.

Another new face was sitting behind the wheel.

. He was a bit older than Scarface, thin and look so innocent.

But the way he smiled told the Junkie he is more dangerous than Scarface and the boy could drive! Both boys are eager to impress his boss.

The way they handled the A.K 47 during their practice showed they were trigger-happy ruffians.

The junkie stared at the gun on his laps and wiped his face again with the dirty handkerchief.

He hated guns.

The thought of kidnapping the daughter of the richest man in the country terrified him. His boss had said the mission will be an easy one.

"Go to the house, grab the lady and zoom off. Then make the ransom demand."

It sounded so easy but if the father contact the police ... Its obvious once the news leaked that the daughter of Chief B.C Okpara has been kidnapped, the army, police, air force, Navy and other paramilitary organisations will swing into action. They won't stand a chance. 

Romeo was studying a road map in the front seat, he turned to the Junkie and said.

"When we storm the house, you are to stay in the car and keep the engine running. I don't want you to foul this operation with you clumsiness."

The lad beside the Junkie giggles and glanced at him.

"We must be sure the lady is inside the house before we go in."

Romeo continued.

The Junkie sighed with relief and wiped his moist palm on his jeans.

He is contented with the task Romeo assigned to him, he did not want to take any risk at all.

He hated violence.

Romeo brought out his phone and started to make calls.

The kid sitting on the driving seat opened a packet of chewing gum, shook out two tabs on his gloved palm and tossed them inside his mouth.

He replaced the packet and placed his gloved hands on the wheel.

He is not saying anything.

He looked calm and relaxed; his jaw moving rhythmically as he chew.

A deadly snake.

Mused the Junkie.

"Our contact told me over the phone now the lady went out but was on her way home. So she will be home any moment from now. She is driving a twin colored Rolls Royce so be on the look out for the car. It won't be hard to find"

Romeo said.

He opened the door and came down.

He put on his sunglass and peered inside the car; his handsome face glistening with sweat.

"The house is down the road. I want to make a little enquiry to be sure she is not lying"

He said and crossed the road. They watched him as he walked down the road....

Stella's POV.

Stella cut the call and smiled.

She had called Amaka and was surprised when she picked.

She had told Amaka she wanted to come over to the house for a jist since she was avoiding her.

Amaka had informed her she went out but was on her way home now.

Well, she trusted Romeo.

He will handle the operation perfectly.

So in a few days she will worth 50 million naira! She began to make a mental calculation of what she will do with the money.

She will first buy a new car.

Something sleek, classic and beautiful like the Jaguar Amaka bought for Jake .

Her husband Uche has refused to buy her a car so she will surprise him this time.

He won't dare ask her where she get the money.

Once rich, she can always make trouble for him and if he become a nuisance, she will leave him and travel to Dubai.

Yes, Dubai will be her first target.

She have heard so much about the Dubai.

The shopping malls and the exotic hotels.

With 50 million naira, she can afford to fly around the whole world! Still thinking about her impending cash, Stella ran happily to the liquor cabinet to celebrate in advance with a bottle of champagne....
