She Did It - Episode 6

 

"We will go deep into this. I can't let this slide. My only son", Mr Coker said.

Sheila, Mrs Coker and Dominique  stared at him, as tears streamed down their cheeks. 

Dunni, Mrs Coker's house help entered the sitting room to inform them that breakfast was ready. "This could be tagged as brunch", Mr Coker said with a wry smile . They all converged to the table. Jollof and fried rice were served side by side on a flat ceramic plate. There was a nostic pot of fried turkey, as anyone can take how many they would like to eat. The salad was filled with margarine. One could feel its fat content and oiliness. Dominique had liked it that way since she was born. Mrs Coker liked it too, but Mr Coker would rather he ate one that margarine wasn't sprinkled and stirred on. He preferred it liked that. Rowland and Dominique always wondered 'why', while they were growing up. The margarine brought out its sweetness.

"I don't think, I have the appetite", Sheila said. Her face looked drab. It wasn't that bad. They all stared, which made her uncomfortable. Tears streamed down her cheeks. Her cheeks and eyeballs looked reddish and soggy.

"I know the feeling, he is my son", Mrs Coker said to Sheila and encouraged her to eat. Even though Sheila was scared she might be suspected, she still sobbed because she missed her boyfriend

By 2:00PM, she left Mr and Mrs Coker's apartment. On her way, she decided to drop at the office Tola worked. It was Tola's break time. She entered the TV house, but was told to wait at the corner inscribed with the "waiting room", by receptionist. It was wide and spacious. Tola was having fun in the studio with her colleagues when she was informed that a visitor was waiting for her. She went to the visiting corner and it was Sheila. They hugged. Tola went back to the studio, got her bag and Sheila drove her to her--Tola's house. Tola had a car, but rarely drove it. She was the shortest among them and dark in complexion. She was a bit chubby with fats at the right places. She had a shape to kill which her friends lacked. People likened her to Nicki Minaj. She lived in a one room apartment with a parlour.

It was an hour drive from Tola's office to her house. Tola's sitting room was well furnished with furniture's used to decorate sitting rooms in the right proportions. Tola moved to her refrigerator. A white refrigerator at the side of the dining room.

"What do you wish to have?", Tola asked.

"Anything you want to", Sheila replied. Tola brought out a bottle of sweet red wine. The refrigerator had three demarcation after the main freezer side on the topmost. On the last demarcation, were glass cups which she brought out two of it.

. She popped the wine and it made a pop sound. They both shouted. She half-emptied about glass cup filled for the two. They made a toast and drank away.

At the Nigerian police office, Mr Coker had made a complain for a detective to be assigned to him. A detective to handle their case.

"How much will you pay?", Inspector General of Police asked.

"Any amount provided the root cause of my son's death is found", Mr Coker said.

"Even One million Naira?", The inspector of police said jokingly and laughed.

"Yes", Mr Coker said, opened his suitcase and counted three hundred thousand naira notes. They were bound in hundreds.

"Have this, so you would start your job", Mr Coker said and left immediately. "Whoop", Inspector General said. He summoned for Detective John to be in his office immediately.

"You called for me, sir?", Detective John said after he had knocked the door and was ushered in to the office. Detective John explained everything and told him to start work immediately.

"Maybe Ms Bolanle will assist you in unraveling this", Inspector General told John. Bolanle was known for her intelligence and people liked associating with her. She had won numerous awards.
