Aroofa

I can be professional. 

I can be professional. 

I can be prof..... 

Oh for chirst sakes, I'm too bloody nervous. 

Another glance at the time says it's past two, the reading for the script starts at two forty five and my professional self forgot the script at home. 

It's not as if I can't get another one but I've already filled that one with my cues and tiny little doodles of times when I come In or something. 

Yoel and his manager aren't here yet, it's the main reason I'm standing at the lobby waiting for Linda to show up with my script. 

Is she ever going to show up? 

Gosh, I'm acting like a rookie actor, forgetting my script and biting my lip. 

Why? Because, obviously because I'm going to be in close proximity with Yoel Trey. 

Where the hell is Linda, I've got to be seated before he arrives, it won't do me any good if I fall at his feet the moment he shows up. 

I look around the lobby again, Mara is standing with my manager's assistant, I wave at them for them to settle, Linda will be here soon I hope. 

I debate calling her but stop, she seems to be going through a lot lately, Linda that is, what with her new designs getting leaked and the debacle with Maurice. 

She wil be here soon... I hope. 

I'm so engrossed in my thoughts it comes as a surprise when the very familiar, very unwanted voice asks from behind me. 

When did he get behind me?! 

"Waiting for someone?" I shriek and what happens next is like something out of a cheesy romance movie. 

I trip over my feet, trying to step away from me, he catches me, holding me against his very manly, very awesome chest and we stare into each other's eyes like barbie and Ken. 

"Are you alright?" His mouth moves on question but I'm engrossed on how white and perfect his teeth looks. 

Is it creepy that I like his teeth? 

"Aroofa?" 

"Uh?" I answer distractedly. 

"I asked if you were alright" He says, and I realize I'm still pressed into his chest. 

"Oh.

. Uh.." I say, stepping away. "... I'm fine" I say, dusting imaginary lint off my clothes, any thing that will buy me time away from looking at him. 

"Why are you standing here? Isn't the reading supposed to be inside?" 

"I uh...." I wonder if I should tell him that I forgot my script at home. 

Will that make me seem like a little child? Like an incompetent rookie? 

Well, why am I even debating this? It's not like he's interested in my or anything. 

It's just... I don't want to seem stupid in front of him.. 

"Aroofa?" He calls again and I realize I've been staring at him face for an inappropriate amount of time. 

"Oh.. I.. I forgot my script, I'm waiting for.." 

"There you are" Linda says, stepping into my line of vision, throwing Yoel a killing look. 

She looks like a goddess in the red gown she's wearing, the serenity she portrays is marred by the killing look she throws Yoel. 

I might have told her about his rejection. 

"Here, you can have this" She says, placing my script in my hands and standing amin front of me as if to defend me. 

Yoel looks confused and a little amused. 

I gently push Linda to my side. 

"Thought you were going to see your designer?" I asked. 

"Yes, I am" She says, her eyes still on Yoel. 

"Good afternoon Linda, it's been a while" Yoels says, she sniffs condescendingly, the picture of snobbery. 

"Good afternoon to yourself Yoel" She says before turning to look at me, okay, note to self, Linda can be a little vicious. 

"See you at him chicklet?" She asks and I nod. 

She throws another look at Yoel before harrumphing and marching away. 

 

"Why did she act as if I killed her cat?" Yoel asks conversationally as Linda clears the door after signing an autograph for an overzealous fan. 

"I'm sure you don't want to know how Linda will be if you did kill her cat" I say, turning to nod at mara, letting her know I've got what I need. 

She nods back, vanishing through a door with Liam my manager's assistant. 

Yoel takes my hand to lead me through the door. 

I glance at him before extricating my hand from his, he does not look like he noticed. 

The script reading has kept under wraps, one of the reason papz aren't here. 

"So, is there a reason you've been avoiding me?" 

"Avoiding you?" I ask as he leads me to a chair before taking his seat.

"Yes"

"I've not been avoiding you, we spoke three days ago on the show" I say. 

"That was for the public, I was at your house yesterday, you vanished when I showed up" 

"I was practicing my lines, I wasn't avoiding you" I say and he looks as if he doesn't believe me. 

Well. 

"if you need help I can be of that at least" He says and I stiffen. 

"What do you mean'at least '?" 

"What do you think I meant?" 

"Don't do that, I get your stand on things so don't make me feel like a pathetic girl" I say, fire in my chest. 

"Never, I will never make you feel..." 

I cut him off. 

"Good" I say, totally set on ignoring him now. 

"You are angry at me?" He says, posing the statement as a question. 

"No" 

"Okay then let's have dinner" 

"No" 

"Why?" 

"I have a date" I say, lying through my teeth. 

"Okay" He says and I try not to be disappointed he didn't ask me more. 

Well, it's not as if he's ever going to like me, it's best I don't hurt myself by being in close proximity with him. 

Case in point, I pick up my bag and move to another seat. 

He doesn't lift up his head and I don't look at him through out the script reading..
