Redemption - Episode 32

 

Lucas:

"I am coming to get you, Bee" I can't believe this, but I am actually chasing after a woman inside an ice cream house. Said woman is giggling as she runs through various aisles of different baked goodies.
"Okay. Stop. I. Can't. Run. anymore." She punctuates every word with heaving breaths.
"You are pretty fast. For a fat woman." I add the last part when I see she's grinning and her smile falls.
"I am not fat!" She stamp her feet and cross her hands under her boobs as if she wants the boobs to ask me if they are fat.
"Hey! Up here boss." Benedicta calls and my eyes jump back to her face from her boobs . She smirks and I know she totally caught me peeking at her boobs.
"They aren't fat as well."
"Ehn? what?" I ask, completely confused.
"I mean my boobs." She says at the same time a woman and her kid pass us. The woman must have heard the boob word because she quickly cover her kid's ears with her hands and quickly pushes her trolley past us.
"Did they?" Benedicta asks as she cup her mouth in her palms, totally mortified.
"Yup. I think you traumatized the poor kid and his mom." I tsk at her and she blushes.

. Let's get out of here before she tells the whole building that I scream about my breast in an ice cream store." She whispers and grab my hand, leading me out of the store.
"Come on. You said you will choose ice cream over everything." I tell her as I try to stop her from pulling me. She stops and stare me down.
"I said almost everything. Turns out, I'll choose to flee rather than have ice cream." She states and I shake my head. How many times has she run away from things she can't help.
"A Bee is brave and you my friend are a Bee. A angry stinging one. Hell, you can hold spiders with your bare hands!" I say with mock wonder.
"I am not a Bee. And spiders aren't dangerous. Come on let's go." She whisper yells.
"Why are we whispering?" I whisper right back.
"I don't know." She whispers back and I shake my head at us both. I can't let her leave without showing her why I brought her here. I pull my hand out of her grip and grab her hand instead. I start pulling her back towards where we just left.
"No. No. Psst. Psst. Stop. Stop." She whisper yell at me as we pass the few people in the store. She so cute.
 I don't stop though. I pull her all the way to the back of the store.
"Where are you taking me?" She asks and I shush her.
"Did you just shush me? I am not a kid!"
"Stop acting like one then."
"He's really a bad luck magnet. Le sigh." I wrinkle my brows at her. Did she just say le sigh?
"What?" She asks me.
"Le sigh isn't a word." I point out.
"Well, it should be." She states and I shake my head. No use arguing with this one.
"Come on, we are here." I say as we get in front of a row of colorful wallpapers 
"You brought me to see colorful wallpapers?" She asks and I grin before pressing the buzzer just at the corner of the wallpapers.
"Wait for it...." I say as I hear the buzzer ring inside the wallpaper.
"What's going on? Is this rapture? Oh lord, forgive me all my sins and receive my soul in heaven." She is totally adorable as she clapse her hands in front of her and pray to the heavens. The buzzer sounds one more time and she peek one eye at me.
"Okay lord I confess. I have been crushing on my boss a little and thinking unholy thoughts. Please lord, I want to go to heaven. Hellfire wouldn't suit me. Hell I don't even like little fires. And__" Her rambling gets caught in her mouth as the wallpaper finally parts off creating a way for us to go through.
"Please tell me rapture is really taking place and I didn't just confess I have a little crush on my boss in front of said boss." She says with open mouthed panic and I chuckle.
"Bee. You have a crush on me? Oh, no wonder you always have that doe like eyes when you see me" I tease and she groans.
"Lord please. Take me now" she says to the roof and I chuckle again.
"Come on. You have to see this." I pull her with me into the dark passage way as we walk quickly. Lights begin to filter in as we get to the surprise I have for her.
"Woah! Lord, have you taken me to heaven? Ice cream heaven for that matter?" I hear Benedicta ask beside me and I grin.
"You like it?" I ask and she nods.
"I love it!"
"Lucas! You finally come to visit me." I recognize señor Mario's voice and I turn to see him walking towards us.
"My man." He says as greeting as he side hugs me.
"Ah. And he brought such a beauty with him. Señorita." He says as he takes Benedicta's hand and kisses it. I see Benedicta blush. You would think she doesn't get such attention before which is outrageous because she is the definition of understated beauty.
"Come. I was trying a new flavor before you buzzed us. I think señorita will love this." He takes Benedicta's hand and pull her towards the workers who are working on different machines.
"Awesome!" Benedicta mouths to me as she walks beside Mario and I give her a thumbs up.
"Oh. Heavenly. I mean, it's just like heaven mixed with strawberries." Benedicta says adoringly as she laps up more ice cream. She goes from one machine to another, tasting everything like the ice cream manaic she is. I watch as she goes around the factory interacting with all the workers and let's not forget with the ice creams.
"I like her." I startle at Mario's voice behind me. I turn to see him grinning.
"I get it. You were totally lost in watching her. I mean, she's just breathtaking inside and out." He says and I laugh nervously. Am I that obvious?
"You should keep her" he states and I shake my head.
"It's not that simple."
"You Nigerians just complicate things. She's here. With you. She's obviously into you too. Go for it before someone else snatches her away." He says and I know he's right but that doesn't mean I would pursue this. What would Luis say? What would mom say?
"Lucas! Come taste this!" Benedicta calls from one of the ice cream machines and I nod at her.
"She calleth." Mario teases.
"And I answer." I wink at him before walking up to Benedicta. She's currently sucking on her spoon, her expression pure bliss.
"Hey, you are here. Open up" she says and I see myself obeying. She scoops some ice cream and push it into my mouth.
"What do you think?" She asks and I shake my head.
"Um. I think you have to feed me some more for me to know." I say and she blushes. I have to grab her hand and use it scoop up ice cream and feed myself while looking deeply into her eyes. I see her gulp down saliva and I know I am affecting her.
 I intentionally brush the tip of my tongue against her fingers and she gasp.
"I love it." I say while still staring into her eyes. It's like we are stuck in a place with just the both of us. I get distracted from her eyes when she licks her lips. Totally tempting. There's ice cream at both corners of her mouth and I can't hold myself back anymore. Benedicta closes her eyes as I bring my head down. I let our breath mingle for few seconds before I lick off the ice cream from one corner of her lips to the other. I hear her make a little whimpering noise in her throat. She looks too good to be true. She clutching the ice cream cup in her hand while raising her head up without opening her eyes.
"More." I hear her whisper and I go to do just that but my damn phone starts ringing and Benedicta's eyes flies open. She staggers backward away from me.
"You_you should ummm take that." She stammers. I nod and pull my stupid phone out of my pocket. Whoever interrupted our moment is going to get it from me. I look down at the screen and it's an unkwown number. Who the heck is it?
"Hello?" I say after connecting the call.
There's silence for a few seconds on the other side of the line and I am just about to end the stupid call when I hear laughter.
"Awwwwn. An ice cream depot? That's so sweet Lucas. Would your nanny like a little press stampede to go with those ice creams?" Talina's voice filter into my ears and I feel murderous.
"What are you talking about? Don't you dare do anything stupid." I grind out.
"Oh. Me? Of course not. The press are the ones that would do something. I'll be out here waiting for you to do the right thing and accept my proposal before the reporters tear into that gold digging nanny of yours. I heard she was at your last auditions. She's probably an aspiring artiste. Would being a gold digger be the right introduction for her to the world? Think about what the press will say. See you out front." She sings before the line goes dead.
  I look back to Benedicta who is currently talking with Mario. I quickly walk up to both of them.
"Thanks for having us Mario. But we will be taking our leave now. You know what to do right?" I ask and he nods.
"Come on Benedicta. We have to leave." I grab her hand and pull her with me as I go round back to the other entrance of the factory. The press wouldn't know this exit right?
 I am wrong. So wrong. We don't get out the door before we get assaulted with multiple camera flashes.
"Are you dating your nanny?"
"Did you dump talina for her?"
"Wasn't she at your auditions?"
"Is she sleeping with you to get the gig?" This last question is enough to make me see red. No one talks about my star like that. I don't know when my fist flies and connect with the jerk's face. His glasses fly off his face and he falls to the ground.
"Come on Bee. Let's go." I pull on Benedicta's hand but she pulls away. The cameras are still flashing.
"Come on." I say again and she shakes her head. 
"I am not a gold digger." She whispers. There's tears falling down her face and I am torn. What do I do now?
"Bee? Please we have to leave now." I whisper back to her.
"If I leave with you, my reputation would be ruined. My chances in the industry would be ruined too." She says and I know she's probably right.

"Lucas?" I hear the familiar voice again and I groan. I am going to kill her. Benedicta and I turn at the same time to see Talina in her usual stunning outfit.
"Baby, I am sorry. I know I am late. Is this the surprise you called me for? You know I love ice cream sweetie." She smirk at me and I grind my teeth. She planned this just right. If I want to save my star, I have to take her deal.
 I look beside me to see Benedicta stun as she watches Talina. I am sorry Bee. I say in my head before I storm to talina and grab her waist.
"You win." I whisper before I press my lips against hers. I can hear the press going wild behind us as their cameras abandon Benedicta and focuses on us.
