People were still coming to visit Oluchi on the birth of her first born daugher months later, others came to see if it was true. She didn't blame them, even though she had done all the things the Dibia had said she hadn't believed it was possible especially as she kept recalling what the woman had said to her that Eke day
"You will never hear the cry of your own baby," she thought it was all talk, but how could someone really be so mean, because of a young woman's careless attitude she would have to suffer all her life? Oluchi thanked the gods for pardoning her and puting a smile on her face, she was radiant as her beautiful daughter kept receiving visitors and gift items, everyone wanted to see the girl who had decided to take her time to arrive in the world.
At first people didn't believe she was pregnant, even when all the signs were there and she had begun to show, her husband still asked around if there was a sickness that mimics pregnancy, as for the other wives and children they just laughed it off, hoping for a miscarriage at least but Oluchi knew she couldn't miscarry knowing the child she was carrying. The Dibia had assured her the child would stay . So her belly grew till the 9th month to the shame of everywhere until she fell into labour that fateful night.
She looked at the baby now, everyone's attitude changed after the birth of her child except Ezinma, maybe she still hoped something would happen to the baby, whereas Nnenna her daughter loved her new sister and was always coming to visit but Ikenna the only male child of Mazi Okafor was never at home.
She hadn't told Okafor anything concerning the birth of the child.

Mazi Ozor walked into the compound accompanied by his two sons, his wife was presently with child and mostly at home, he had come to visit before being a very close friend of Okafor but he came now with his two sons
" We have come to marry, how is our wife"he said with his usual barky voice, he was a very huge man but kind at heart
Oluchi smiled"Very fine, she just finished eating"she replied smiling fondly at her daughter
"You pampering her too much..but she's such a pretty thing, she has to marry one of my sons"he said resting on his walking stick
Oluchi looked at the boys, they were growing fast, Ekene was smiling, 16 now and quite muscular, while Uche was 4 years old, it hadn't been easy for Amarachi to take in again after Ekene was born, Uche was like a miracle, and he had opened his mother's womb for she was pregnant again.
"Ekene how is your mother"Oluchi asked
"She is fine..she sends her greetings."he said, Mazi Ozor pushed Uche forward who was staring at Obiageli wide-eyed
" I think she would be perfect for Uche..Ekene is too old, what do you think"
Oluchi laughed"I am serious, I am going to see Okafor on the matter "
Oluchi just laughed more
"What are you coming to see me about.." Okafor said coming into the hut "I overheard you flirting with my wife"he said
"I agree I was flirting with someone who is sadly your daughter..I want to marry" both men laughed and shook fondly
"Then you have to come to my Obi but not empty handed" they laughed again as they walked out together talking.. Ekene took his brother who was complaining out to pee leaving Oluchi with her thoughts..She sighed, the dreaded issue. Fifteen years from now men with serious intentions would flock into the compound for her daughters hand, what supposed to be a thing of joy for the mother had turned to sorrow for her. Obiageli dragged at her breast and she gave her what she wanted.
