Obiageli - Episode 5
10 months later
Oluchi held her baby in her arms as she removed her legs from the bath, having just given her her bath, she dried her up and powered her. She had name her Obiageli because she was a princess and had come to the world to enjoy.
Eberechi came to her side of the house and said"hey..look how she is looking so fine, I'm still wondering why you won't allow me to bathe this baby, its been long I had that joy..of bathing a new born "
"No Auntie I'm fine"
"Ok let me help you discharge the bath water"
"Thats nice but no..thank you", the Dibia had insisted it should be thrown behind the bathroom after wash
" eheh..if you think it would not be respectful for me to I ll ask my daughter to.."
"Auntie.. you bother too much, I'm fine thank you"
"I have told you to stop calling me Auntie..you are a wife, call me Eberechi, we are mates" she said touching the baby's cheek
"Eheh nwam..so pretty" she finally left.
Oluchi dressed Obiageli up as she went deep in thought . She had heeded to every word the Dibia said and by 9 months she was pushing her baby out. She would always remember that night when Obiageli chose to arrive in the world, everyone had gone to sleep when it started, she woke everyone up with her screams, all the women in the compound ran into her hut, some came to see if it was a baby she would give birth to, Ezinma for instance, she had been in the room but never assisted in anyway, the labour was long and painful..Okafor paced outside in anguish

Obiageli finally slipped into the world in the early hours of the morning and unlike any normal child did not cry, her hands and eyes were shut tight, her hair full, the women thought she was dead as they passed it from one hand to the other, she was pinched and slapped yet made no sound even though she was breathing..Oluchi began to cry on the floor..Ezinma left. The women left one by one till it was just she and the baby lying down side by side. The baby suddenly coughed then started crying, Oluchi burst into tears of joy as the women came back in one by one and Okafor who had given up was told of the good news, he had hoped for a son but was happy seeing his favorite wife's womb had been opened, he deemed the gods had finally decided to smile on her and she will bare more children. People speculated the baby to be a witch but after that day she began behaving like a normal baby, slept and ate when due, and soon everyone began forgetting the mysteries of her birth but a mother can't....can she, especially when she knew she was the only one she will bare.
