My Mistake - Episode 1

 

The early morning sun rudely perked up around up from the blinds on the window. Aysha muffled incoherent words before turning her face away from the harsh light. She was having a dream, a beautiful dream of her and Fadeel getting married and having their own kids. She kept smiling in her sleep without even knowing she is.

A sharp pain on her back jolted her back to reality, sitting up quickly, she looked around the room rubbing her hand across her face in other to get used to the light as her eyes landed on her two best friends. Amirah Julde and Fa'izah Adamu Barwa . Damn these two!

_"A wali jam na?_ (did you sleep well?)" Amirah asked ruefully

"Of course you fools!" Aysha replied angrily before smacking both the two girls with a pillow "you've ruined the beautiful dream i was having for goodness sake!"

"Tell me, was that dream including my brother?" Fa'izah asked scooting closer to her.

Aysha turned away embarrassed. Its not a secret that the two girls knows she has a crush on Fa'izah elder brother since school days. And now, even though she is a graduate and currently serving, she is still in love with him and had been chasing her suitors because of him. The sad part is that, Fadeel didn't even know what she looks like now, as he's based in the states where he finished studying and now working over there.

Aysha's phone gallery is full of his pictures, which he mostly send to his sister and others Aysha found them on his Instagram page.

. Now tell me, what brought you all here this early morning? Just because our house is close by doesn't mean you can barge in anytime you guys want. Especially now that you've ruined my sleep." She chided.

"Well, hello there parrot! We have good news to share that's why, and it's already 11am. Who stays in bed till this time if not a lazy ass like you?" Amirah joked as she smacked her on her shoulders.

"What good news? I hope that news is worth my sleep or by Allah you guys will see the other side of me. Bedsides what to do on a Saturday morning other than sleep and rest?"

"What other side have we not seen? Abeeg chill and give me something before i tell you what i want to." Fa'izah said.

"What?! That's bribery miss. I won't let you corrupt this copper here this early morning. Guess what Aysha?" Amirah chirped in.

"What? Just tell me already. You girls are making me nervous."

"Fadeel is coming back in two days time!!" Both Fa'izah and Amirah said.

"W....wa...what? Are you girls trying to give me a heart attack?"

"Duh! Do we look like we're joking? I just finished talking to him this morning before coming here. Amirah was already outside your gate when i came out. Yaya Fadeel is coming back on Monday. If you like believe me if you like, don't."

Aysha jumped and screamed on top of her voice happily. Fadeel is coming back! Her prince charming crush is coming back!
"Yeeeyyyy! I need to buy new clothes, retouch my hair, and start going for waxing and other things to appear more beautiful. What do you all think?'

The two friends look at her jaw dropping. This girl is sure head over heals in love with Fadeel.

"Girls, everything okay there?" Aisha's Mom said she pepped into the room.

"Yes Mama" Fa'izah and Amirah replied while Aysha stood up and quickly hugged her mom.

_"A wali jam na? A be dume jey nyamugo? Mi yiddi nyamugo"_ (Good morning, what did you cook? I'd like to eat)"

_"Jam_(fine), what would you like to eat?" Her mom replied, pushing back a strand of her from her messy bun.

_"Mi yiddi geroode, barret, e sihye_" (I'd like to eat eggs, bread and tea)

"Done. Meet me in the kitchen when you're done. Ohh, and your dad said to let you know he has left for Pankshin since you're still sleeping."

"Really? I didn't even get to wish him save journey. My bad, i sure have slept too much today. I'll give him a call later." She replied, trailing behind her mother to the kitchen while Aysha followed her. Leaving only Amirah in the room.

Amirah looked around the room in disgust. Why can't her parent be this rich? Why can't she be the one in Aysha or Fa'izah shoe? Why do they have to be the rich kids and she the poor? It sucks as hell to look at them all ducked up in beautiful clothes everyday while she wear rags and call them cloth. But its a promise she made, one way or the other____she'll get what she wants from either the two. Not knowing that envy and jealousy leads to destruction!

Aysha Ibrahim Bappah was the only child of her parents. Not that her mom didn't give birth to other children, but they all died a day to the naming ceremony or after the naming ceremony. Then, her husband's family even tagged her as a witch and wanted the husband to divorce her. But he didn't, and later on they were blessed with Aysha. Her dad, Alhaji Ibrahim Bappah is a merchant who has stores in different states in nigeria while her mother wasa retired teacher.

Fa'izah on the other hand was the second child of her family. Her eldee brother Fadeel is a lawyer. Their father, Alhaji Adamu Barwa is also a merchant, and that was how they met. Later on, they built houses close to each other.

Amirah Julde is a girl from poor background.

. They were only neighbors with their Aysha. She has five siblings, three girls and two boys. Growing up with their Aysha and seeing how rich they are, Amirah grew jealous and vowed to only get married to a rich husband so she can also be happy.

Aysha's dad was the one who sponsored Amirah's education. Right from primary up to her university days___and now, both the three girls are coppers. Aysha studied Economics, Fa'izah Biology and Amirah studied political science. Fa'izah has always been the silent one among the three of them, while Aysha talks but not that much. Amirah is the crook among them. Picking up gossips here and there and passing them around. She had been trying to get the two friends to fight and hate each other ever since she realized the dou are more closer to each other than her. But she wouldn't give up that easily!
