Made - Episode 33

 

One of the security guys grabbed an axe from the fire extinguisher package. He joined other gaurds on their security van and followed my car. I had switched places with David and i rode fiercely towards where the building in my dream was in actuality. I couldn't believe i had there nicely tucked im my brain. I geuss the sleep had helped me unlock that memory.

I rememberd it so vividly now . That day when Kim had taken me to that place in an effort to lift my downcast spirit. I had loved the gesture but i could not help but wonder how the ruined building was supposed to cheer me up. He told me the building had sank into the ground during a land slide 10 years ago. What had thrilled him more was that the building had sunk in unscathed. More like the city of Atlantis.

He must have found a way to acess it somehow.

I had not seen the thrill he had on that building but now i understood. I had not understood then and it must have shown on my face. He noticed it and that was when he said that piece.

Under the murk and the dirt lies a beauty unexplored.

We scampered out of the car. I looked at Mecy ,Peter, Philip then David. 

"Am going inside, alone." I said 

"No..you can't possibly go there alone. We have not come all this way for nothing." Mercy said 

"We don't know what is in there Mercy

. We can't just go in there blindly. I started all this and now am going to end it." I said looking at her but directing the say to all of them.

"You won't be alone, i will be the muscle behind you." One of the security gaurds offered. 

"Thank you Sir. The rest of you please check around the building. Kim may be having something up his sleeve."

"I am going inside there with you my love." David firmly said.

"Me too." Philip who had been silent also offered.

"But i can't let you risk like that."

"Watch me.." Philip said then made for the entrance. 

I knew i could not win with them. Mercy and the rest of the gaurds together with Peter broke off to check the surroundings.

The entrance was narrow. We could only enter one at a time. How did he drag Rob to this place. Were we in the right place ? I was the last to enter and David helped me climb down to the open and vast room. 

We did not have to search. In the middle of the room lied a huge white freezer enough to fit three people inside. It was not attached to any power source. It was firmly secured with a chain which had a padlock to secure both ends. The thought of Rob inside there without air made my knees weak. My mind was a bit dazzed and i found it difficult to think of what to do next. Would he actually let him suffocate before the twenty four hours elasped? Are you dumb...you know you can not trust the words of a psycopath.

"Quick... the axe..break the chain."

The security gaurd sprang into action. I did not let my eyes blink as i watch the guy repeatedly hit the padlock. Finally it let go. David and Philip helped him remove the chain. I opened the deep freezer.

Robert layed there peacefully an oxygen mask attached to his face. I touched his hand, he was warm. I could see his chest rise and fall. He was alive. I slowly removed the mask and tapped him. He woke up then rubbed his eyes. He was from a deep sleep. He looked at the four pairs of eyed looking at him. The first thing he asked was

"Where am i?"

Tears fell out of my eyes as i hugged a totally disoriented Rob. 

Then it occured to me. This was way easy. This could not be the end game of a man as callous as Kim.

A man with no soul.

I scanned the room. It was filled with huge potraits of Cindy. One potrait loom over others. It had red candles below it. Dried petals of roses lied at the center. It looked like some sort of an altar. I felt sick just standing there watching all that.

Just then a screen went live. I hadn't noticed it before. Kim stood a remote control on his hand.

"Well done Danny.. i can see you are smart. I geuss you have already figured out that am yet to make my last moved."

I just swallowed and stared at the screen.

"You were wise to leave some your friend out there. I met my end of the bargain. You found Robert...and i found you."

I knew he was going to kill us.

"Which way is it?" I asked looking around. The gaze of the gaurd held fear. David stood by me. I could not bring myself to look at him. I had bought him into my life and barely 2 months had passed i had walked with him right to the point of the death that was now looming over us. Philip's eyes did not betray any kind of emotion. Robert stood now leaning on the freezer. Tears flowed freely from his face.

"I can't believe am about to die." Said he.

"You are smart you already know how its going to happen." He swirled the remote control on his hand playfully.

He was going to blow us all up.

"Don't you worry about the bast. Its contained...it will only kill those in this room."

I melted with fear and let myself sank in the ground at David's feet. I heard people who are about to die have flashes of life memories before they die but for me there was nothing. My mind was blank. I closed my eyes and clinged to David's legs clad in jeans. I could not miss the slight trembling.

One...two....three.....nothing

four.... eight ..... nine.....still nothing

What was he waiting for? Was he playing a game? I opened one eye then the other followed. I stared at the screen. Kim was frantically pressing and re-pressing the remote. He cursed and threw the remote. I almost ducked feeling it would land right on my face.

I heard something like a movement on the farthest end. I sauntered foward to the extreme end. I found a staircase leading upwards. He must have brought the freezer through this place. How on God's planet did someone not notice a man dragging a freezer this huge? Maybe it was in the middle of the night. This place was also a bit far off from human settlement. He could do anything without being noticed especially at night.

We had totally missed this other side of the building. It looked like he had been built an extension to the real building. If it was true he had contained the blast, he would have walked away unscathed. I entered into a room that i would best describe as a watch tower.

It had monitors all over. He had surveillance on my front porch and that of Rob's place too. He had been onto us this whole time. On the other side of the room was a camera still recording. The pieces of remote dashed against the wall lied scattered on the floor.

"After him!" The security gaurd we were with shouted after noticing Kim trying to sneak out.

David started after him and i followed hot in his heels. This other exit was levelled with the ground. We did not have to struggle through it.

I couldn't believe i was doing this again. Running. I had been doing alot of this the past few days. Kim could ran fast but so could David. I just ran trying not to loose sight of David.

We pursued him and soon enough we came to the main road. On the other side was a rail road.

Dang!

It was horrible watching pieces of his body flying all over, the rest being mangled as the train sped over it on the other side of the road. When it finally passed the site remaining was painted in crimson red. Life had been lost and the train did not even stop.

We had stopped and had been trying to shout at Kim to stop because of the oncoming train but he could not listen. He was so stuck on not getting caught that he ultimately ran to his death.

It was ghastly and a mess. David held my hair as i puked on the ground beside him. It was going to take a while before i got over this scene.

. I did not feel triumphant. It was such a sad and tragic end. Something inside me kept reasoning out that this was the only way his activities would end. Even in prison he could have easily commit the crime. But i was supposed to preserve life no matter how undeserving the owner was. I felt so bad for Kim. I watched as Det. Jonnes took over the crime scene. David held me gently and led me away from the scene.
