I was NOT a virgin and Nonso knew, he was cool with it but we haven't done anything serious besides kissing.
"Mom! Can you please let Diana be?!", Nonso stood up, obviously fed up, it was high time he talked to his mother so I was just calm, what will be will be.
"Her virginity is not a problem ma, what matters is the love we share, are you going to be an obstacle to love Mom, are you?"
Madame Lucy became surprisingly sober, she showed no remorse though, I guess her pride couldn't allow it. She walked out of the room and we were left to enjoy the night, and we enjoyed every bit of it.
To be in love is somewhat fulfilling, but spending the night in the arms of someone you loved and someone you knew would spend the rest of their lives with you was even more glorious . We talked, like we usually do, not hiding anything and just slept off while holding each other's hands, what a night.
Next day, it was time to depart. I had missed my girls and I couldn't call them back after they called me because of the party. I opened my phone, put on my internet connection and typed on our squad group chat, 'Prepare for homecoming'. It was a sweet suspense, I knew they would exhaust me with questions and I'd really have no choice but to do as they want.
By noon, we were set to go, I overheard Nonso's mom telling him to hurry up and wife me, she liked me, I don't know what I did that suddenly changed her mind but she gave me a hug that said "welcome to the family" before we left.
"Diana, I have no doubts that you'd make a good wife for my son, inform your parents when you go to see them that my husband and I together with his kinsmen will be coming to begin wedding plans very soon" she said.
Oh I was glad and it showed on my face.

This wedding was really happening, I was really getting married! This time, it felt right, such happiness. We thanked them and entered the car. The journey back begun with so much hype, we dressed in colourful shirts and shorts to be comfortable for the sunny day.
Unlike while we were going, Nonso was much more relaxed, indeed love conquers all, despite how difficult it is to appease a Nigerian mother, we did it.
We played road games, cracked jokes and riddles and gisted, we basically had fun on the road.
It was fun until we were almost home. I was daydreaming about our wedding already, I had a picture of the perfect wedding gown, we were going to have a 'Harry Potter' themed wedding or a 'Game of Thrones' themed wedding, it was going to be awesome!
A narrow road before we took the last turn to my apartment, smooth ride till I heard a loud bang and next thing I knew, our car was in the air and spinning.
A trailer had lost brakes and hit us from behind, our car spinned and landed with a loud thud upside down.
Nonso was unconscious and I was bleeding from my head, I must have gotten a concussion because I don't remember what happened next.
I woke up after twenty hours, I woke up to tragedy, I woke up in a hospital bed, the beginning of the end.
