Fear gripped me, what better way to publicly humiliate a lady if not at an impromptu fancy dinner party.

"Don't be tardy dear, ensure you glow", her voice kept ringing in my head.
I was sure I'd make a fool of myself in front of everyone, but on second thought, that was exactly what she wanted so I resolved within myself not to let that happen.
"Please smile Madame Diana", the makeup artist said again, all workers called me 'Madame', they called all females who were not workers that anyway.
I frowned even more which I'm sure made her job a little bit harder, I frowned not just because I was angry, but because I didn't feel comfortable with the whole party arrangement.

Well, time went by and the party started.

Nigeria wasn't really a country where wealthy families were large in population, but the few wealthy ones were highly wealthy.

Forward to the party, I had thought of calling my girls to come over, but there wasn't enough time.
The party was something I'd have only imagined, top notch guests, palatable meals, excess expensive drinks, lots of fancy gowns and buttlers whose tuxedos I loved.

"Good evening ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Chiedozie Empire", the host said. I was seated with Nonso and it was like this was our wedding reception.
"We're gathered here as a family tradition to celebrate the engagement of our lovely son, Nonso Chiedozie and his beautiful wife to be, Diana, it is said that he that finds a wife, has found a good thing, and we are more than sure that Nonso has not just found a good thing, but has found a priceless jewel." He said some other things that I couldn't remember, I zoned out and came back to the moment when it was time for the toast.
"To Nonso and Diana", he said loudly and raised his glass of wine up, I could faintly hear clings of glasses all around me.
This life wasn't what I wanted, it was just too extravagant, I could sense Nonso wasn't happy as well.
I looked at him, gave him that reassuring smile and said "to us"

. He loved me, I felt it so much and I just hoped I would not break him.
I looked at him in his fine blue Ankara suit, it was lovely on him and he knew it. I took out my phone and posed for a selfie, "I love you", I whispered in his ears and took the shot.
Uploaded it immediately and returned my phone to my bag.

The party was long and exhausting, we had to play games and dance and gosh, all the attention was just uncomfortable. We were allowed to retire to our beds after the last guest left, "It'll be rude to exit your own party before your guests are gone", Madame Lucy had said. After the guests left, all I wanted was to make out with my future husband and sleep.
He must have wanted the exact same thing because he followed me to my room and this time he didn't stop at the door.

"I hope you enjoyed yourself, though I know it's not really your thing", my thing? What did he mean by 'my thing'? I asked my inner self. "Just come over here" I dragged him and we kissed.

Nonso was a good kisser, but then he was good at a couple of things so I didn't think it was a big deal. Just when the make out was getting more intense, Madame Lucy barged in on us.

"Ehen!!", She yelled, "So this is what you children do!" I was shocked, what was wrong in kissing someone you're about to marry???

"Nonso, I hope this girl is a virgin o!"

Now this was the real trouble.
