Love can be used as a weapon, depending on the kind of person that wields it.
I realized this when Nonso narrated his excuse in form of a story, a pathetic one.
"It all started when we went to spend the weekend at my parent's, my dad told me that his prospective business partner wanted to meet with me since I was to run my father's empire after he retires. He was in the house that day, Otunba Bola, you might recall when a server came to inform my dad of his arrival."
I was getting impatient, I remembered what he was talking about, I wanted to cut him off and tell him to go straight to the point, but another part of me wanted the full story, I didn't cut him short however, I let him continue.
"They sealed the deal for their heirs to take up and in order for that to be achieved, the heirs needed to meet, that was how I met Rachel."
So this was really about Rachel, just like I suspected.
"I didn't get along with her from the start though, we chatted online about ourselves then we switched to business and we maintained the business relationship for a while, we needed to get synced with what our fathers were leaving for us . It was quite understandable to me, but she needed more help understanding the deal and the job requirements so I took out time to explain it to her

. When she became good with it, the talk went from business to more personal talk. All these while we were just chatting." He paused, I noticed the regrets in his eyes, he couldn't look at my face, if he had done, he'd have seen that I was in tears already.
"Then we had that accident," his voice sounded more sober this time, I could have sworn he was going to cry, it was then I noticed we didn't really talk about the accident, "And I had to go abroad for treatment", he continued.
"Immediately after my father and I left India, we went to see Rachel in America and spent a few nights with her. It was on one of those nights that we got tipsy and the unexpected happened, I didn't want anything to happen but she encouraged it saying it was good if we were to develop a good working relationship. I couldn't resist and it happened, we had sex." He paused to look at my face, I wasn't looking at him anymore, I was staring beyond him.
"You slept with her", I reacted, in a very calm manner, I could tell he wasn't expecting me to be that calm, but I was, surprisingly.
"Yes I did, but I can promise you it was totally out of lust and alcohol, I felt nothing for her, nothing at all, I love you Diana!" He replied.
"Of course you do", I told him, this was the weapon he tried to use, the weapon of love.
"And you came back and had sex with me", I continued, "were you aware that she had an infection?" I asked him, in tears, we haven't seen the test results yet but I was already feeling like a carrier of something.
"No honey, I wasn't aware, she only called me the day after I slept with you, I didn't mean for all this to happen", he replied, sounding sincerely sober, I was moved to sort this out with him and get through this together, marriage is for better or worst after all, but I still had to ask the big question, "So what happens now? What if we have whatever she has?"
I couldn't help but hope it doesn't come to that, that would be unforgivable.
"Let's hope it doesn't come to that dear, we will see the results tomorrow and they will be good." Funny how most times he said exactly what I wanted him to say.
I sighed, let's wait and see.
