I'm Getting Married - Episode 18
I picked up.
"Hey Ana", he said, no one has called me 'Ana' in centuries, I blushed mildly. The girls just rolled their eyes and looked away.
"Hey Franc", I replied, it must have made him happy because it sounded like he giggled.
"How are you? I know it's not long since I called but I felt a sudden urge to call again that's why I'm calling again", he said.
I felt nostalgic.
Francis and I were once in love, he was extremely romantic and like you know, he knows what to say to melt a lady's heart. I loved him too much . I remembered when we were still together, we never discussed marriage even though we were of age and were together for 2 years. I didn't bother though, my mum kept hammering on bringing him to her, she really wanted us to get married but we just wanted to have fun, at the expense of our hearts.
He was a gentleman when he wanted to be but his atrocities were beyond control.
I started to remember all that led to our breakup.
It was a fateful Sunday afternoon, I was tired from the week's activities and it was the second day of my menstrual cycle for the month, that could be why the events of the day were still really fresh in my memories.
I called him to our favorite restaurant to call it quits to his face, the place was scanty since it was Sunday.
I had caught him in bed with a lady I once suspected him with, he's had several other flings that I knew about and I couldn't bear it again.
He came late, another sign that he valued me less.
I didn't expect to stay that long in the restaurant but he made me. I waited for him to place an order though he kept looking at me like I was some sort of lunatic on the run

. Immediately the waiter brought his meal, I allowed him settle in before dropping the bombshell.
I remember him taking one spoon and pausing to look at me, "Francis, it's over", I dropped it.
He looked calmly shocked, like he was expecting it, but he wasn't expecting me to end it like that. I got up and the events that followed were hazy, filled with pain and loneliness till I moved on.
"Are you there?" He asked, I came back to the present world.
"Uh...yes yes, I am, I sort of drifted a little bit, sorry about that", I apologized, "what were you saying?"
"I said I know it's too soon and we really need to talk, even if you're not going to accept my proposal to get back together, I was hoping you'd let me catch up with you over lunch, hopefully by tomorrow." He said.
I felt irritated, what gave him the guts to think of asking me on a date, I was way past that level, I couldn't believe it.
"Please Diana", he pleaded. His voice sounded sweet, what could possibly go wrong, it's just catching up with an old friend over lunch right? I told myself.
"Alright Francis, it's a date, text me the venue and time" I said and hung up.
Something evil was playing with me.
