I'm Getting Married - Episode 15
"Francis!!! Hey there! Oh my goodness it's been what? Two years now?" I said, trying so hard to hide my shaky voice.
"Two years and two months", he said.
"Oh" I chuckled. He was still in pain, I could tell.
"Yeah, how have you been?" He asked, when an ex asks that question, especially in the manner that he did, they want to be updated on your love life, I knew this but I didn't feel like he deserved to know, he hurt me and even though I thought he was an angel and he still acts like an angel, he wasn't to be trusted.
"Well, I've been great actually", I paused long enough to realise that he was waiting for the rest of the information before I continued, "I'm actually getting married soon", I told him, "I came to discuss with my designer for dress styles so yeah, took a lunch break and here we are", I concluded. "Wow, congratulations", he said, he didn't look happy though, I didn't care
. "Thank you", I said and smiled, then picked up my cup of drink with my left hand and made sure his eyes caught the sight of my diamond engagement ring.
I saw how his eyes lit up when they caught a glimpse of the ring and yes I felt fulfilled.
"So how about you, how have you been?" I returned the question, it was status quo to ask as well even though you don't care so I asked.
"Well.....", he started, I knew he was about to tell a very touching tale and I really wanted to hear it.
"I must confess, I haven't really been myself since you left me, my life has been a comedy of errors, I'm so sorry, if only I had known that my life without you wasn't really mine, I wouldn't have let you go Diana. I never stopped loving you and I don't think I will ever stop."
He concluded, he didn't look me in the eye all through the talk and I knew why.
What sort of a man was he??
How dare he sit in front of me and spew such nonsense?!?!
I was confused, but I was more angry than I was confused.
I took one long look at him, looked at Nneka, she looked like she wasn't listening or paying attention to us but I'm extremely sure she heard everything.
"Francis, I thought you'd be a changed person already, you've still got that spirit of cheating in you, I caught you cheating on me several times and finally left you

. I moved on and found someone better than you, someone who would die for me and I'm getting married to him and you want me to cheat on him with you???!" I exploded. I surprised myself, I wasn't a mean person but when occasions like these call for it, I become mean. I talked so fast that I forgot to breathe and ended up taking a deep breathe after my talk.
"I really hope you stop being a sore loser and actually start getting contented with your loss sometimes" I said as I picked my bag and left the restaurant, followed closely by Nneka.
We walked back to the designer's shop and I was as quiet as ever, even the designer noticed my quietness.
We were done with styling for the white wedding and booked a later appointment for my traditional wedding attire. I was exhausted but something in me kept thinking of Francis and what he said earlier. I couldn't stop thinking.
Why was I even thinking, I didn't know, I just couldn't stop and it was worrisome.
If only I knew the consequences were dire, I'd have stopped.
