**** JASON'S POV

ONE MONTH LATER.

"You ready?"

I ask Hailey who's seated beside me with Olivia on her laps munching on a biscuit.

She takes in a deep breath before looking at me.

"Yes"

"You okay love,does it still hurt?"

I gesture to her bullet wound which was thanfulky healing.

"I'm fine Jason. It hurts much lesser now"

"Good"

I lean in to kiss her forehead.

"Go ahead, I'll park the car and join you"

I tell her and she nods before alighting.

After parking the car at an empty parking spot, I alight and lock the door.

I suck in a breath as I stare at the court ahead of me.

Finally, after so many days of waiting, today is the final hearing of Hank Anderson's case and the judge will be giving his verdict today.

I can't imagine everything which had happened In this one month.

Hailey regained consciousness after two days.

Alex's been doing great.

Luckily, the bullet had only grazed him.

As for Tess, well I'm yet to ask her what's going on between her and my best friend.

I've always known for a fact that my sister dated Alex for a while when she was seventeen.

I had caught them professing love to each other in father's cellar one night.

But she never told me and I never asked because I expected her to tell me herself but she never did and on the night of her eighteenth birthday, something tragic occurred making my parents send her out of her country.

Well, now I don't know if they still like each other.

I'll just have to wait.

Talking of my father, he's been very nice to me lately and I'm not complaining.

Olivia.

She still hasn't started to speak again even though she seend to be doing great these days.

I even hired a teacher to be teaching her at home, at least until she gets back her voice then I can enroll her in a school.

I sigh and begin to walk towards the court when I catch sight of Hailey talking to a man in handcuffs and two policemen behind him I fume.

It's Jack . Bloody bastard.

"She'll never acknowledge you as her father got it?"

Is the first thing I hear Hailey say when I get closer.

The fool smiles at Olivia who thankfully frowns at him.

"Don't be delusional Jack. You're nothing but a f*cking sperm donor. In the eyes of the law and before God and man, Livy's father is Jason Michaels just him!"

She scowls and I smirk. I'm so proud of her.

"Baby listen.."

Jack steps forward but then Hailey's reflex was quick.

She steps away from him and then swings her arm, slapping him hard. Damn.

"Take this f*cktard away"

she tells the policemen who drags a shocked Jack into the courtroom.

"I'm proud of you baby"

I whisper into her ears and her angry expression immediately morphs into a blush.

"I love it when you blush love"

I kiss the flesh beneath her ear and she blushes deeper.

"Jason" "come on"

I chuckle stepping away and intertwining our hands as we walk into the court.

In side the court, I catch sight of Sarah.

No, Madeleine also in handcuffs.

I can't believe I never saw right through her.

She's a real b*tch, just like her drug dealer of a father who's thankfully serving time in jail after Hank snitched on him.

Madeleins eyes meet mine and I turn away immediately.

I can't stand the mere sight of her.

"Court rise!"

The clerk announces and we all get up as the judge enters.

The middle aged man takes his seat.

"You may sit"

"Defence lawyer, anything to say before my final verdict?"

The judge asks Hank's lawyer who nods.

"Go on then"

"Thank you your honour"

he says and begins to put up stupid allegations if you ask me.

I sigh and shut my eyes as I lean in to my chair.

I'm only interested in hearing the verdict, so for now let me sleep.

Just a while later, I'm interrupted from my sweet sleep.

"Psst! Jason. It's time"

I hear Hailey say and I sit up immediately. Alert.

"Mr Hank, do you have anything to say?"

The judge asks Hank.

Hank who was seated on a wheelchair turns to stare at me.

I wink at him.

If he dares say anything about Hailey, I'll provide my recording as proof and he'll be accused for false accusation.

"N..no your honour"

he answers

"Very well then. After taking into accounts each side's argument and evidences provided, I hereby declare Hank Anderson guilty of murder, illegal drug dealership, kidnapping and slavery as charged.

All the girls under his custody shall receive sums of money as compensation and sent back to their respective homes.

Madeleine Osei shall be sentenced to two years in jail for usage of drugs and impersonation.

Jack Brown including all his other associates shall be sentenced to five years in jail each.

And Hank Anderson shall be sentenced to death by electrocution tomorrow at 10:00am.

This court is dismissed" the judge declares hitting the plank as he gets up.

Ah, finally justified is served.

As soon as he exits,I turn to Hailey.

"Wanna get out of here? We should get going"

I tell her and she nods.

HAILEY'S POV

REGIMANUEL REHABILITATION CENTER.

"I don't want to go Jason"

I sob out as Jason hugs me.

"You'll be fine Hails."

He assures me kissing my hair.

I don't feel assured.

At all.

How will I cope? How will I go by with drugs? How long will it take to recover? Jason pulls away and wipes my tears.

"Remember why you're doing this? For yourself. For Livy. You need to get well. I'll wait for you, no matter how long it takes"

Jason reaches into his pocket and pulls out a tiny red box.

He opens it and I gasp at the beautiful diamond ring which had an infinity sign engraved at the top.

"My dad gave me this a few days ago. And well,it was the ring he gave my mom before when he first proposed... Listen Hails, will you.. Will you be my girlfriend?"

He asks and my eyes widen.

Me?

"Jason.. I can't.. It can't wirk .. Only God knows when I'll get out here..and. "

"Like I said, I'm willing to wait. We'll make this work Hailey. We will. All you need to do is say yes. Just say yes Hails and you'll see. Please I love you Hailey. F*ck, I'm in love with you. Madly and insanely in love with you. Give me a chance will you?"

he looks at me with pleading eyes.

"Say yes?"

I stare at him for a while before throwing my hands around his neck, capturing his lips in a fiery kiss, channeling all my pent up emotions into it.

He kisses me with just as much intensity.

"Yes Jason. I'll be your girlfriend"

I say against his lips and his lips curve into a smile.

"Give me your hand"

I stretch out my left hand and he slips the ring onto my third finger and kisses it.

"This ring is a sign of my love for you Hails. I'll cherish you for all it's worth. I put the ring on your third finger because the day you get out of here will be the day I put it on your fourth finger where it rightfully belongs. I promise you love"

A tear drops at his words and I don't bother stopping them.

This man here is my world.

"Don't cry love. You'll get through this"

he assures me kissing away my tears.

"I love you"

"I love you too Jason. I love you"

tears trickle down my cheeks.

"Stay safe yeah?"

He kisses me one more time.

I nod and then bend down to face Olivia.

"Hey baby. I really don't want to go. But I have to. I promise I'll come back to you as soon I get better. I promise you love"

I kiss her and then get up.

"Bye Hailey. I'll be waiting"

Jason says, all minds of emotions evident in his eyes.

"Bye"

I choke out and turn to go as the attendant grabs my luggage.

"Mama!!"

The tiny voice shouts.

I turn sharper than I ought to.

Olivia just spoke.

After one full month she finally spoke.

"Don't go!"

She yells and I drop my bag.

I run.

I run back towards her and engulf her into a hug.

"Did you hear Jason? She spoke. Olivia spoke up! She spoke! My baby is speaking again. She spoke Jason!"

I cry out with joy.

"Mummy don't go. Don't go!"

She cries into my chest and my heart breaks into a thousand shreds.

"Livy honey. I don't want to go.

I pull away wiping her tears which keep flowing.

"Ma'am we have to go"

the attendant tries to pull me up but I don't let her.

I hold on to Olivia and she does same crying.

I can't go.

It'll take years to recover from such strong addiction.

I feel Jason tugging at Olivia's hand, trying to pull her away from me.

But she holds on, clutching my shirt.

Just like I do.

"No! No no! Mummy don't go. Don't go!"

She trashes forcefully fighting off Jason.

The attendant pulls me away from my baby.

"We need to go now ma'am"

"No. Please. Give me more time. Olivia! Jason!"

"Mama!!"

She screams out running to me but Jason holds her back.

I want to go to her. I really want to.

My baby.

My Livy.

"Mummy has to go Livy. She's sick"

I hear Jason trying to coax Olivia as I'm being pulled away.

"Please let me talk to my daughter. Two minutes please. Just two please"

I cry, begging but she just pulls me inside the rehabilitation center, shutting the door behind.

And Olivia's cries are the only thing ringing in my ears as I'm being led away, the tears flowing freely like a tap.
