FIONA - Episode 14

 

“Is she going to stay with us?” Olivia asked, pointing to the girl in the back of the seat. “Yeah, at least for a while. Michel thought it would be a good idea to have her come with me until I am settled.” Fiona responded. “Nothing is gonna happen to you, and why do you need another woman to look after you” Olivia persisted. “It was Michel’s idea and I take it as a good gesture . Why? don't you like her?” Fiona questioned. “Not that, she just looks too serious and cold for me” Olivia complained. “Even though I don't know her, I am sure we will get used to her in time,” Fiona added. “You mean you don't know her at all. And why would you trust a stranger to come to stay with us?” Olivia protested. “I don't trust her Olvia because I don't even know her. But I trust Michel” Fiona commended. “Besides, I am sure it won't hurt to have her stay for a while. We have many rooms to share and am sure he wanted her to come for my safety” Fiona tried to reason with her. “So now, you don't trust that your family is capable of taking care of you? You must bring a spy on us as if we are Michel’s servants” Olivia argued. 

“Why are you making issues out of this? She is only going to be staying for a while. If she ever misbehaves, I can always tell Michel to take her away” Fiona argued

. “That is it, it is now all about Michel. Michel said this, he wants that. You have really changed Fiona. First, it was the two of us but now, I have to compete for your affection and trust over Michel’s'' Olivia cried. “That’s not what I meant. I just want you to not make a big deal about this. What I need now is support and I hope you understand that'' Fiona tried to reason with her. 

“I think you should focus on the road or use the auto-drive mode before you get us all killed” the unknown girl warned Olivia who was driving. Olivia became silent for a while as if she was expecting Fiona to shut the girl up but when Fiona said nothing, she responded “whatever”. 

“Tell me your name again?” Fiona asked the girl. Perry Zalieous but you can just call me Perry'' the girl replied. “Am Fiona'' she introduced herself. “I know, my boss told me'' Perry replied and Fiona nodded. “I would love to know what else he must have told you” Fiona added but Perry remained silent. 

After about a two hours drive to the Capital City, they arrived at Arden’s compound. It was a large blue tide house with white scribes. About three stories consisting of seven-bedroom apartments. The front yard was grassy with roads leading to various parts of the compound such as the house and parking lot where they had another four car parking, including Fiona’s. The compound had varieties of perennial trees right in the middle and back along with fruit guardians that were planted by Fiona a while back. The compound had been decorated by Fiona to indicate her love for nature that was highlighted by the varieties of plants in her compound. 

“Ohh home, sweet home” Fiona spoke with tears in her eyes as she surveyed the compound after getting down. She felt proud that her trees and strawberries were just where she needed them to be. But somehow she quickly noticed the weeds in the compound that she thought to get rid of asap.

“Did Father tell when he is going to come back?” Fiona asked after walking around the plants for a few seconds.
“Welcome, welcome, welcome, baby sister” Benjamin's voice came from the door as he walked towards her. “Brother” Fiona cried and threw herself in his arms. “I have missed your sweet and innocent face, my princess” Benji cuddled her face and pulled her into a tight hug. “I have missed you so much. Olivia told me you traveled.” Fiona said. “Yes, I did but returned last night” Benji explained. “I am so happy to see you again brother. I have missed you'' Fiona tightened the hug. 

“This is Perry, she will be staying with us for a while. Hope you don't mind” Fiona told Benji. “Anything for you Princess” He cuddled her face. “Welcome to our house” Benji welcomed Perry. 

“Is my father back?” Fiona asked. “He is in his room, let me show you. I am sure he would be glad to see you” Benji led her to the second floor, the fourth room on the left. She opened the door only to see what came as a surprise to her. “Father!!” She cried running towards his bed. Her father was lying in bed with an IV drips hanging over him. “What is wrong with my father, what happened to him?” Fiona cried. “You told me my father traveled'' Fiona demanded answers from Olivia. 

“I saw how you were so into your party and coming home, I just couldn't get myself to tell you” Olivia justified. “So you thought it was okay to lie to me? You don't think I am fit to handle the truth?” Fiona seemed furious. 
“Father, father, can you hear me? It's Fiona, I am back, Father. I have missed you so much” she began crying out loud. 

“When he found out about your disappearance, he tried to find you. The police showed him your clothes and car with blood spilled all over them, we all thought you were dead. He passed out since that day and the doctor confirmed it was as a result of a heart attack and stroke.” Benji explained. “And you didn't find it worthy to take him to a hospital for a better treatment?” Fiona screamed. “Father wouldn't want to be taken to hospital,” Benji told her. 

“Fiona…” her father called. “Father, you are awake” Fiona seemed relieved. She moved closer to her dad and he tried to lift his hands to her face and she aided him by pulling his hands on her face. He smiled at her and began crying…. “My child” her father cried. 

“I am so sorry father. I didn't know you were here, I tried calling you so many times. I am so sorry” She cried. He began coughing and after a few minutes, his doctor ran into the house and checked on him. “He must rest now,” the doctor said and asked Fiona and others to leave. 

“Who are you? I don't know you” Fiona said to the doctor who looked unfamiliar. “We had to hire a new doctor because doctor Phillip could no longer do his job properly. It's a long story, you must get some rest now” Benji said and led her to the other side of the room. 

“You have been through a lot lately little sister, you shouldn't have to worry yourself too much. We have everything under control” Benji informed her.
“I know it must be a lot of burden on you to take care of your father and run the business. I promise, I am going to help you and we can figure this out together” Fiona stated and Benji Chuckled. “I am glad that you are back my little princess. Now go have lunch and take a rest” Benji said and kissed her on her forehead before he departed the living room. 

“I am so sorry, I haven't shown you your room. Follow me” Fiona led Perry to a room between her room and her father’s room. It was simple consisting of the bed, closet, and dress up set, and simple office table. “It is a little pinky but I hope you like it,” Fiona told Perry who replied, “Thank you very much, this is much better”. 
“I will leave you to refresh and get some rest. You can join us when you are ready. I will be in my room” Fiona said and got out immediately.  

“Nanny… Fiona screamed immediately bumping into the middle-aged woman that has been working with them for many years. “Fiona my child” the lady cuddled her face. “Praise the creator you are still alive. I have always kept you in my prayers, beloved” The lady said to Fiona who pulled her in a hug. “I have missed you, Nanny. It feels so good to be home” Fiona stated. “Look at you, you have grown big and beautiful. And also pulled some weight” The lady complimented and Fiona blushed so hard. 

“Have you seen your father?” Nanny asked and Fiona's face fell. “I know this is hard on you but you are gonna get through this okay” Nanny consoled her. 
“I will be in my room Nanny, I am really excited to see you again” Fiona stated and departed for her room.
