Finding Solace - Episode 30

 

Thanks so much everyone for the comments, I enjoyed writing it too, except when inspiration comes late like this.

@Opeoluwa, Yes,the episode is longer but not as full as When a Woman Wants. The former was a story already finished before posting, so I joined many episodes together into one . But this is just a work in progress, inspiration comes slowly and at times, not at all . Like now, this morning, my head was just blank. I had no idea what to write. This evening I came up with something, I do hope it’s interesting.

NICK

A part of me was at ease because she was finally with me while the other part was nervous with the hunters and the possibility of Noah showing up at my doorstep.

After cleaning the wounds, I managed to ask. “SO,if I give you a drop of my blood now, what happens?”

She was sweating and panting, but I needed to know the fact.

“I am not sure Nick, the silver bullet is in my blood already, there is a fifty-fifty chance. I am dying inside already because of the bullet and the blood will only make me human, I don’t know if I will die or not from the bullet

. Or, if I take the blood, I might die faster being human and having a bullet in me.”

I was confused.

“Fi, please , I am confused.”

She sighed again. “Solace will cure me and make me human quite alright. But now, I am wounded already, I have a silver bullet in me which is lethal to werewolves and bullet generally is lethal to human beings. So If I take the blood, there is a fifty-fifty chance I might die or not die.  Assuming I wasn’t wounded at all, it would have been okay.”

Oh my God!

“How many hours does it work?” I asked.

“Six hours. I have less than two hours now….”

“So what do we do now?” I asked. Touching her forehead, which was now burning hot. “You are burning up already and , I feel so helpless. Should I call a doctor?”

She shook her head. “No, Doctor’s cannot help.”

I took the needle on the table. “Then, let me give you a drop of my blood.” I pleaded.

“I am scared Nick.” She cried. “I don’t know if it will work with the bullet.”

“Can’t we remove the bullet?” I almost shouted. Frustration was crinkling my forehead.

“It has dissolved into my bloodstream.” She replied in a whisper.

“Damn it! You cannot just die Fiona! Please!”

She smiled weakly, placing a trembling hand on my cheek, I didn’t realize I had tears on my cheeks until she wiped it.

“I can’t imagine you have grown to love me this much Nick…”

“You have no idea Fiona. If you die, I don’t know what will happen. You have given me so much joy eversince you came, you left and my world fell apart. Please tell me what I need to do.”

She stared at me and was about to reply…..

“Awww…isn’t this sweet?”

I spun around only to be confronted by Noah. I looked around, I had no idea how he had gotten it, but then I remembered he was a werewolf.

“So I guess this is the part where Juliet dies and Romeo dies too right?” He said, laughing.

I hated the man , alright but I was so scared of him too.

“What do you want?” I demanded, as brave as I could.

He looked at me in surprise then burst into laughter. “ Look at you. All so brave right now. You weren’t so last night or was it this morning?” He pretended to think for a while.

“The hunters will be here soon Noah, you should leave.”

He stared at me and laughed again. “They will of course come for her, not for me. As far as they are concerned, there is only one big bad wolf and it is her.” He stated, pointing at Fiona. “I will take you to them myself. You know they are still looking for you.”

He walked to the bar and taking a cup, he poured himself a drink from the left over in the bottle.

“You know she is dying, there is nothing that can be done to her right now. You should just relax and watch. By the way, your sister was really pretty.”

My muscles tensed as he spoke.

“I only scared them a little but they really made it easier for me. I merely scratched them..you know.” He said with a wink and fury burst inside me , I rushed at him but instead collided into the wall, hitting my head hard.

“Nick…”

I heard Fiona breathed my name, my head hurt a lot.

“You should know not to fight with a werewolf, I can kill you by just snapping my fingers.”

I exchanged glances with Fiona and signaled to her that I was okay.

Noah walked to her, he caressed her cheek with his hand and then lifted the cup to her nose. I heard her sneezed and then he laughed.

“Leave her alone!”

He scoffed at me. “I have no idea why you weren’t in the car that day. You know it took me  a while to know you are actually part of the Solace. I had thought it was just your mother and your sister. It was really a coincidence that you had to be the one to hit her and now you are going to die with her too.”

He gulped down the rest of the drink and advanced towards me.

“She couldn’t kill Yvonne, I should have killed that snooping whore myself. If not for the stupid driver who called the police and then I had to take her far away to where they wouldn’t find Fiona. I should have killed that girl, the driver was just a collateral damage.”

His features contorted into an unrecognizable creature, the face of a true rogue.

“I did everything for her so she could mate with me and then we can finally raise a pack but she foolishly chose you again! Then your stupid whore messed up everything. I should kill you all!”

Powerless, I staggered back, he was closing in. I could almost smell his breath. A fist met my stomach and I coughed out blood from my mouth.  His beastly face was becoming more hideous and I felt myself being lifted.

Narrator’s POV

Fiona watched in horror as Noah advanced towards Nick.

Noah lifted Nick in one hand and hit him in the stomach multiple times before dropping him.

“You are just a piece of shit, useless, powerless. Once I’m done with you , I will burn you alive, away with the nonsense blood of yours.”

Fiona shut her eyes as she couldn’t bear any more sight of Nick getting hit.

She caught sight of his phone on the sofa with her and she quickly took it with trembling hands. She dialed Rasaq’s number and spoke into it.

“Hello, I am the one you are looking for. I am in his house, I dare you to  Come fast before I kill him.” Then she dropped the phone and with her last strength, she stood up. She was feeling so dizzy and she was staggering.

She needed a full vision and one last super strength. Shutting her eyes, she bent down and changed immediately.

Noah was unaware of the wolf that was coming behind him, he was having fun with strangling Nick who was now badly injured and blinded by the streams of his own blood running down his face.

The wolf leapt on him immediately, biting his neck, he snarled and held the wolf in his hand but Fiona clung tightly, her teeth buried in his neck..deeply.

Finally they must collapsed and she immediately changed back.

“What have you done to me?” Noah shouted in horror as he held his neck which was now oozing with blood.

“Now, you have the silver bullet in your blood too. My blood is mixed with yours.” Finoa said, breathing heavily and dragging her body weakly to Nick, who was badly injured and was lying down, holding his hand out to Fiona.

“Are you okay Nick?”

Blood covered his eyes, blinding him but he nodded as he caught her hand.

Noah was still growling in pain.

“Now, you will suffer the same fate as I do.” Fiona said finally.

“Not without him paying for it!” Noah growled, and was heading towards Nick. His eyes were deadlier….he meant to bit Nick to death .

Fiona watched in horror and screamed as Noah took hold of Nick but her scream was drowned by the sound of bullets that filled the room.

Noah stiffened as several bullets pierced his back and through his chest. His fangs that  were almost touching Nick’s flesh disappeared. The muscles on his face relaxed and he sighed. Dropping Nick, he dropped on his knees and collapsed to the floor, lying faced down-he was dead.

Nock groaned as Rasaq ran to him while the no name man went to check the dead Noah.

“So this son of bitch was the wolf we have been looking for.” The no-name man said, eyeing both Fiona and Nick. “Are you two okay?”

Fiona did not respond, life was draining out of her, she looked at Nick.

“We need to do this.” Noah said quietly at her. Meanwhile the no-name man was standing up, backing them while calling for an ambulance.

“I thought Fiona was the werewolf?” Rasaq asked Nick quietly. “She looks like she has been poisoned.”

Nick sighed. “She is, Rasaq. Please keep it a secret. She has never bitten anyone. I can’t let her die please. Yvonne was in a wrong place, she only scratched her, she didn’t bit her so there is no way Yvonne would turn.”

“That is why she is this weak. I believe you. She is still an innoncent werewolf.

Gladly, Nick extended his had to Fiona and inserted his index finger which was covered with blood into her mouth.

Fiona licked and then her panting increased, her eyes flashed and she screamed and then stiffened all at once her eyes flashed and came back to normal.

This got the attention of the other man. He looked at them, drawing his weapon but Rasaq signaled to him to lay off.

Just then the siren of the ambulance got closer.

“Fi,….are you okay? The ambulance is here.” Nick asked, tapping Fiona was unconscious.

“Fi..please wake up.”

There was no stir.

Rasaq placed a hand over her nose.

“She’s  not breathing.”

Nick could feel his heart beating so fast.

“No,no. Fiona…please.You have to wake up. It is over. The ambulance is here. please.” He cried.

“I think it’s okay to call me Catherine now.” Fiona said, opening her eyes with a smile.

Nick could feel the tears in his eyes as he gathered her in his bloody arms. “You are a chicken, you know that!”

**********************************************************************I guess all of you can have a wonderful night rest now/ I will definitely. I hope we like how it ends. There is just one more episode to go, we still have Yvonne in the hospital, we have not forgotten about her right ? So Just one more chapter is left for tomorrow and WE WILL BE DONE! YAAAAAY! I can also sleep peacefully loool. So what do you think about the story and the ending?
