Ada - Episode 2

 

I woke up to a low battery. Seems I'd be having light issues. I hope this appeases us while I find ways to charge my phone.

“Good morning maam”

“Good morning Natalie” Cleo replied

“Ma’am you look fabulous”

“On the contrary, I am fabulous”

Cleo. She is everything you can wish for on a bad day . High spirited and easy going, so tactful in all she does. She could say “go to hell” and one begins to tread the path of hell joyously. Tall, ebony skinned, with perfect bulgy brown eyes, so cautious of her beauty is she that she flaunts it every day and every time, and Natalie her secretary,  was ever willing to serve as a reminder, telling her every morning how beautiful she is. This was not part of Natalie’s job description, but understanding one’s boss is a good attribute of an employee, hence Natalie took her time every morning to admire her boss.

“Nards group of companies called” Natalie said

“NARDS GROUP OF COMPANIES?”   Cleo screamed bemused.

“Yes ma’am, we got the contract”

“Oh my! No way! Am going to be damn popular. Does life get any more interesting?” Cleo said with excitement

. “I’d be in my office, forward my schedule for the day to my email right away” Cleo said sounding official.

“You have a 9am appointment with Mr. Bernard Elliot ma’am”

“Who is he?” Cleo asked looking confused

“The CEO of Nards groups” Natalie said happily

Cleo became filled with enthusiasm, her joy knew no bounds. She has been pursuing this contract for five months. Planning the five years anniversary party for Nards Company was the breakthrough she needed, and here it is. She was not taking chances; the gate of hades won’t prevail while she watched.

“Cancel all my appointments for today, call the chauffeur, I’d be with him in 15 minutes. Make sure you give him all documents with regards to Nards’; we are not letting this slip away. By the way, your dress is awesome”.

“Thank you ma’am”. Cleo walked happily to her office. She picked her phone to make a call. Ada needs to share in her joy. On a second thought, she decided otherwise.

Ada, was sulking, Cleo had left this morning without even a word. This was so unusual; Cleo had never treated her like some old furniture since they became friends. What was more worrisome was Cleo taking sides with Jason. Yulk! Who would have thought that her friend, no, sister, will side her foe and not her. She’d call Jason; she would not trade Cleo for Jason. Picking her phone from the table, she searched for his number. She call Cleo, she deleted his number after the incident, not her fault though, what’s the use keeping a foe’s number?

“Hello”

“Have you called Jason?” came Cleo’s reply

“Why are you carrying this matter on your head as though you are surnamed Martha?”

“If you do not call him, do not call me either. Good bye”

“Calm down, Jason’s guardian angel, I called to ask for Jason’s number”

“Good. Finally you are thinking with your brain and not your skull”

“Thank you”

“I’d send you his number. Let me know when you call him, I have news for you”

“Tell me, please”

“Headline, my office served milk and honey for breakfast”

“Details please”

“Keep to the deal or forget it.”

“I love you”.

“I don’t. Call Jason and I will love you double. Bye.”

Ada’s phone beeped. She looked and it was Cleo’s text. What the hell? 7:45am? What was she still doing at home? Jason can wait. She has a company to run.
