Amy:

I walk quietly beside Benedict, my hand still in his. He's looking straight ahead and I feel like he's not really here with me in mind. I dig my legs into the Beach's sand and come to a stop. Benedict tugs lightly on my hand in his before he stops and looks back to me. I raise my brows at him. He shakes his head mildly then sighs.
"What?" He asks and I shrug.
"Nothing . I am just wondering where you went for a moment there."
"What are you talking about Amy? I've been standing right beside you for a while now." He says like he's confused.
"Walking. We've have been walking for minutes now, Benedict. You've been lost somewhere in your head. Since umm Cyndi showed up." I frown mildly.
"I don't want to talk about it, so drop it." I see his jerk mask slip on and I shake my head at him.
"I'm not doing this with you. I don't have to he here." I tell him matter of factly and start to storm off.
"Wait!" His hand catch my arm before I go far and I stop short, not turning to face him.
"You're right. I'm just so use to folding into myself whenever something hits me like this." I see the vulnerability in his eyes and my shoulders slump. I gently place the stupid books I now have clutched to my chest to the sand and plop down beside it.
"Sit." I pat the sand on the other side of me and motion for him to join me

. I half expect him to say no but he just shrugs his big shoulders and plops right down with me on the sand. I don't expect his next move and I freeze when he takes my shoulder and pulls me flush to his side. The memory of the kiss I'm trying too hard not to think about comes back to the forefront of my mind. He's looking at me heatedly again. What was I going to say?
"So?.." he trails off and I look away for a moment to gather myself.
"So, your accident. Was that how you got this scar?" I shock myself by asking. I've always been curious and I'm actually surprised that it's the first question off my mouth now. I let my gaze settle on his impassive face.
"Obviously." He grunts and I bite down on my bottom lip at his outburst. He puts his hands up to his face and scrubs hard with a groan.
"I don't talk about it...."
"That's okay. You should not then. I'll..." I start to say but his hand stops me.
"No. I should just get it out of my chest. Can't hurt more now than it did right? Scars don't hurt. They are just reminders." He says and I nod. He stares off into the blue ocean before inhaling deeply.
"I was supposed to be in New York for a game the next day. I went home to Nigeria for my brother's oath taking at the University. It was important for him."
"Benjamin?" I ask when he stops talking and he nods.
"Yeah. So after the ceremony at the school I left to catch up with some friends. Benjamin was supposed to pick me up in three hours. My flight was two hours after that. The airport wasn't far. I just didn't want to miss it." His pained expression tells me it gets bad from here.
"He didn't come?" I ask him. He nods but then shakes his head.
"He did. About five hours later. I didn't have a car with me and I was a bit  tipsy from the drinks I had with  my friends. Didn't trust enough to take a  cab. I was an international star afterall. So when he finally showed up I was so mad at him for being late for some chick he had to take to a bus park." I gasp at this.
"Me." I say. He looks at me and nods.
"Now I know it was you. I didn't care back then y'know. Was a kinda a jerk. Okay maybe not kinda. We were arguing and Bam! The next thing I remember is my leg hanging up at the hospital, my head in bandages."
"My God." I put my hands to my mouth.
"Yeah. It was awful y'know. Benjamin almost died and I couldn't brush the guilt off." He turns away from me and I see his shoulders shake. Is he crying?
"It wasn't your fault. An accident is just that. An accident." I touch his cold arm but he doesn't move.
"No. I was drunk. It must have been me! You know, I just wanted out of there. The hospital, my family, the country. I didn't want to be around any of it. But the injury hurt not just my career but also my image. I was painted the drunk basketball player and all that. Cyndi jumped to the next big thing. I lost everything. My father was more than happy though. He never liked me playing basketball." He releases a long exhale of breath and I let him fume for a few minutes before I take his hand.
"Hey where are you dragging me to!" He looks confuse as I tug his bigger hand. He makes it easier for me and follows behind me.
"Come on." I walk us both to the bank of the water. His eyes flutter up to mine and he shakes his head.
"What are you thinking of doing, Amy?" He takes a step back from the water but I hold him tight.
"Come on! Don't be a chicken." I grin at him. He starts to chuckle and I let his breathtaking face sink into my mind.
"No one has ever called me that before." He mutters good-naturedly.
"Here it comes!" I see the huge wave come our way and I hold tightly to Benedict's hand. At the last moment, he pulls me to him and turns us around so he's covering me with his big body just as the water hit us. I squeal even as the water covers us. Without letting go of me he pulls us both to the top of the water. We've been carried a bit into the water but not too deep. His eyes shine with amusement.
"You conniving little...!" I splash him before he can finish his words and I think he gulps down some of the salt water.
"I'll get you for this." He yells as I try to swim to the bank. I feel his hand grab my leg before his big arm encircle me.
"Let go!" I squeal but I don't actually fight him.
He pushes us up from the water with a smirk on his face. I know what that look mean for me and I start to wriggle in his arms.
"Stop! Don't! Don't!" I laugh but he just runs deeper into the water until it reaches his waist then he throws me up in the air like I'm as light as a kite. I squeal in both horror and glee as I dunk into the water with a big splash.
I can get used to this Benedict. No, I can see myself not just falling into the water but falling for the man himself. God, save my stupid heart.

"Goodnight boss!" My secretary calls to me from her desk out front. I look to the wall clock and it's past 10 in the night. I'm mostly caught up on everything for the day so I decide to go home early today. I put my hand up for her to wait for me as I quickly grab my bag and walk out.
I make sure to shut my office door before making my way out to her.
"Someone's going home early today." She grins at me and I smile sheepishly. She bats her eyes at me but I don't think too much of it. She's pretty and young but I don't think she means any harm with her smiles.
"10pm is pretty late." I say as I lead the way to the stairs. I pull the door open for her and she nods her thanks.
"Everyone in this company know that 10pm is certainly early for you." She says with a laugh. I chuckle lightly as we make our way down and out of the building.
"Need a ride?" I ask her. I don't think she has a car of her own and it's quite late. She shakes her head with a wave.
"I don't want to be a bother. I'll like to catch up on the last episode of Daniel Obi's movie. Heard this one was shot in Los Angeles yesterday morning. Might be a nuisance in the car." She says and my smile falls.
"Los Angeles? Daniel Obi is in Los Angeles?" I ask her.
"Yeah. According to the blog post, he's in the Royalty hotel." I sway at the news.
"Are you okay boss? You don't look so good." I shake my head at her when she fawns over me.
"I'm fine.

. I'm fine. I should go home now. Make sure you get home safe." I say as I rush into the driver's seat of my car and turn the ignition on.
My secretary wave at me as I reverse out but I barely see her. My mind is reeling with this news. It's common knowledge that Daniel Obi and Claudia had something months ago. The both of them being in LA at the same time can't be a coincidence right?
As I drive my car into the dark road, I connect my phone to my earphones and dial Claudia. It doesn't even ring. It's switched off. Okay, don't panic Benjamin. She asked you to come with her right? That means she can't hace been planning to meet with her ex. Right?
