Twisted Twice, Twisted Mine - Episode 37

 

Adélie

I look around the house Vance has brought me to and I almost squeal in fancination.

It's cool and so is my outfit, Vance bought me a cool ripped blue Jean and a white sleeve that I have tucked in my Jean and pink sneakers, we are dressed alike except for the shoe color.

We look like those people i see on TV and in magazines.

He stretches his hand to me and I take it, those butterflies come again.

He comes to a stop at the foyer and that makes me stop too, he turns to me.

"Remember what I told you?" He asks softly and I nod, he strokes my hair off my face and to any one looking it must seem like we are dating.

Does he like me now? At least I know that much about male and female relationships.

I nod.

"If you do good on this I promise to teach you how to prepare another meal"

"Really?"

"Yes cat" He says patting my head and it makes me feel wonderful, those butterflies turn to dragons.

I smile and my attention diverts when a man in a wheel chair wheels  in.

"Well, that was fast" He says and my eyes goes to the woman behind him.

"Good evening father" Vance says and my brown furrows, this is his dad? Are we in his house? Cool!

"Good evening boyo" He says with a chuckle before his eyes comes to me.

"What's holding you and this beauty up? Come in, come in." He says before turning to the woman.

"Diana, tell the chef to bring out the meals, it's time to host my future daughter in law."

Future daughter in law? Is that me? Did Vance tell his father that he likes me? Wow. 

My thoughts divert when the woman leaves in a huff.

Uh?

She looks like Maleficient in the cartoon Sleeping Beauty, I don't like her.

Vance goes to move the wheel chair but the man holds up his hand and he stops, he beckons me forward and i look at Vance uncertainly.

He smiles at me and I nod before approaching the man.

"You are pretty, why don't you wheel this old man to the dining room, you think you can do that?" He asks and I smile nodding.

I pass my purse to Vance and he accepts but I can see the displeasure in his face.

Is he scared that is father will like me more than him now? He doesn't have to be scared, I don't plan on doing anything too harsh.

I wheel the man in the direction he points me and he asks me questions on the way.

I answer everything truthfully and in the corner of my eye i see Vance smile proudly at me.

"So..." The man, also known as Clark AKA Vance's dad continues and I drop my fork to listen to him, automatically knowing he's talking to me.

"...., Adélie Royalty, do you have any siblings? Older or younger?" 

I feel my body stiffen and it takes everything in me to nod. 

"I had a sister, a younger one" 

"Had?" He asks and I feel everyone's attention on me, why do people automatically become interested in bad news? Vance drops his wine glass and turns to me. 

"Adélie..." He starts. 

"I had a sister, a twin sister, she died when we were 5, it was my fault, I couldn't save her"

"Oh?tragic" Diana says with no emotion and I feel the tears pull in my eyes. 

How can she trivialize something that meant the world to me. 

Vance grabs my face and his eyes searches mine, he sees the tears and as it spills over his eyes hardens on his father's. 

"I think the third degree is more than enough now father, why don't we get down to why we are really here?" He says, gently wiping the tears from my eyes. 

"You okay cat?" he asks and I nod, his lips kiss my head and I feel those dragons in my stomach again. 

I sit back and his hand remains on mine, he strokes the top of mine and I become steady. 

Louis who I didn't notice leave wheels in a cart and I'm immediately curious what's inside. 

Clark beckons and Louis opens the briefcase on top, wow. 

My tongue almost rolls out of my mouth when I see the amount of diamond inside it. 

Jesus, it's like those stores I see inside magazines. 

I turn to Vance and open my mouth,he nods. 

"I know Adélie, it's shiny" He says with a smile and I nod. 

"It's yours now" He says again and I frown in confusion. 

"Why?" 

"Because my mother wants it to be given to the woman I love" He says and it's like a drug in my head. 

"You love me?" He nods and I swallow suddenly. 

"Thank you" I whisper and he smiles, I see Louis looking at him and then to me, I smile at him , he doesn't smile back. 

What? 

He wheels the cart to me and I'm afraid to even touch. 

"Vance is right Adélie, it's all yours, go ahead and accept, it's a gift from his mother to you" Clark says with a smile and I get the feeling it's not sincere. 

".. Hold on" Vance starts as I begin to touch the shinies. 

"The heart diamond is not here" He says and the hand holding mine tightens. 

"Well I kept that one" Clark says with ease and Vance stands my hand still in his, prompting me to stand. 

"Why the fuck ever?" He asks his father and I immediately know I accessed their relationship wrong. 

They don't like each other, they dispise themselves. 

"Vance, boy, you are a business man, you know the risks involved in making transactions, how am I sure this girl is really your girlfriend? How am I sure you won't take all of the heirlooms and travel back to America? You already have the businesses, the shipping company and the rest, I'm sure you can wait until you get married to own the Heart diamond"

"My mother wanted me to have the diamonds, she never wanted your hand or hers.." he says pointing at Diana,

" Watch your tongue boyo! "Clark barks. 

" What? What duh fuck you gonna do old man? Beat me? You've bloody done that, throw me outta your house? News flash, you goan done that before and I din die, I'm here, alive, your gonna gimme my mother's black diamond even if I have to drag it out of your bloody greedy hands! "

He says, his accent really pronounced and it doesn't take much for me to know he's angry. 

Clark bangs his hands on the table and everywhere is quiet. 

" There's nothing you can do boy, I've got it and I've got it, you wait till your wedding to get it or you don't get it at all "

Vance watches his father keenly and suddenly his face changes, melting into a deep laugh. 

"You, you underestimated me father, I'm not that little kid you used to beat on, I'm a man, you wanna know something? You can't do one little thing to me, why? You are stuck In that chair and you have her playing with your head, she's sucking your blood father dearest, soon she's gonna grab you by the throat and kill you"He says pointing at Diana. 

He pulls on my hand, grabbing the briefcase and making me stand beside him. 

"Don't mind my manners Diana, I'm sure you understand if I don't stay for dessert" 

He pulls me along and out of the house, my hand hurts from where he's holding me but I don't say a word.
