The weekend turned out so much better than i expected. I even got a

kiss out of it. My mom was happy. Olivia had fun. Emmanuel and i also

negotiated a peace treaty. At dinner, we chatted about alot of things.

I never knew about his mother. But yesterday, he told me alot about

her. I have never talked with anyone like that. Ese is my friend, but

we don't talk about serious things. Like you must have noticed, ese is

more about fun so we don't talk about serious issues. I have never

talked to ese about my dad. I just told her, my dad died of a

mysterious illness. I have always been embarrassed about telling

people my dad left, but with emmanuel, everything just came out. And

he listened. He even called my father stupid for leaving 'a perfect

daughter' like me. He paid me a compliment!. Wow!. And i think it was

sincere.

After dinner, we watch a movie on emmanuel's lap together in his

room. And it felt intimate, with our legs touching as we sat side by

side in his room and watch 'finding carter'. Close to the end of the

movie, i felt emmanuel watching me so i turned to look and he really

was looking at me with an intense look on his face. We looked into

each there's eyes for a while and i got a feeling he was gonna kiss

. I would have let him but then we hear olivia's voice. She was back

with my mom and Mr David. Emmanuel and i jerk away from each other and

rush to the corridor to meet olivia. Olivia talked about the fun she

had with our mom and Mr David. It has been a while since i saw that

glow on her. I know she misses mom's attention and now that she is

having it, she is genuinely happy. I hope it continues like this.

Everyone is so happy. The only off-side of this arrangement is that

emmanuel and i will become siblings and that's far from what i want

but, i would do it just so my family would be happy.

Before we slept last night, Mr David and my mom called a meeting to

discuss their wedding which was not up to a month away. This brought

the reality of the situation to me. I look at emmanuel as his father

talk about the venue they were renting for the wedding and i see that

he is so happy about it. I wonder if he doesn't want this marriage

because that would make us siblings and he doesn't want that. Does

Emmanuel like me sincerely or is he just teasing me?.  Maybe he

doesn't want this marriage because he doesn't want his mother to be

replaced.

I sigh and get up from my bed. Its 5:00am and i have to prepare for

school. Its Monday. We are already at home. We came home by 12:00am

yesterday because we had to go to school today. I kneel and pray by my

bed then walk down to make breakfast which is my duty since my mom

would not be bothered to wake up this early to cook for us.

I walk to the kitchen and see my mother already in the kitchen. She

has her earpieace on and she dancing as she cooks. Wow!. I wonder

what's change her. I walk to her and help her prepare. She removes her

earpieace as i walk in and she plugs her phone to the mp3 player and

we dance as we prepare breakfast of porridge together.

We are almost done with the cooking when we hear our landline ring.

This is strange as only my mom and dad used to use it when they were

together. They used to reach me, anytime they left me alone at home.

That was the good time, when my parents showered me with love and

attention. I excuse myself and walk into the sitting room.

. I pick up

the receiver and the voice i hear freezes me.

"hello, tehila" the voice says.

It sounds like my dad's. No, that not possible!. He couldn't be in

touch with my mom., she would have told me.

"hello" i say timidly

"tessy!. Oh my God baby girl is that you?" wow it is him. He always

called me baby girl. I look at the receiver and start having a panic

attack. I cant breathe. Breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe

out. I am getting dizzy and Suddenly, i am hitting the floor. I take

the land phone with me as i fall and the commotion makes olivia and my

mom rush to me. I see olivia above me crying, before i lose focus.
