I realised at once that the guy doesn't remember me simply because I wore a hood that day. I calmed him down and tried to solve the matter . Achieng was so terrified and after making him believe we don't know where Lucy is he left.
I had to stay in the house until our parents came back. Achieng insisted I go with her to work everyday and I agreed. Though she's just my step sister I do care about her a lot.

Okay Maggie, come in, Sam said popping his head around the corner. I took a deep breath, said a quick prayer and entered. The living room was very plush. A coral carpet with thick rugs. Flowers arranged in a rainbow spray on top of a marble mantelpiece. Grandfather clock with a somnambulistic tick. Everything was neat and tidy, tables shone like mirrors, mirrors gleamed like the sun and there wasn't a speck of dust to be seen anywhere.

. The lady looked to be in her fifties. She was short with curly auburn hair, a beaky nose and fierce black eyes. She sat at the edge of the sofa, legs coiled and arms crossed.
Maggie meet my mom Sam said with a wide grin as I sat uncomfortably. I immediately knelt down and offered my greetings. Sam excused himself leaving me with his mother in the living room. So how did you meet my son she asked breaking the silence between us. For a moment I was lost in my thoughts. How I first met him with his brother's harnessing my sister and I didn't realise I had tears in my eyes.
She came closer to me ,wiped my tears and said in a calming voice. You will soon be my daughter in law and I don't want to put pressure on you my girl. Don't fear me but if its possible take me like a mother.
Hearing these words made me cry even more. I hugged her so tightly trying to erase the last memories of my own mother. We had a nice chat afterwards discussing about different things, men, school, jobs and others. It was a great time though my first visit at Sam's place. At first I thought samlived with his parents but he proved me wrong. His mother lives in the village but he had brought her to the city for proper treatment since she had been sick. I realised they had a strong bond between them and she also told me Sam is her favourite child .
Sam suggested I start working that he can set up a small basic shop and I told him I will have to discuss it with my sister and the Collins. He dropped me back at the Collins since I couldn't spend the night at his place. I was about to turn around the corner and enter the house when suddenly a voice yelled:Maggie!
I turned to to see Lucy.

. For a moment I was dumbstruck. I'm really really sorry for coming back late,I gabbled. she just shrugged and walked past me .
As I entered the living room I saw David on his laptop. I wasn't in any mood to talk to him but he called after me as I was living. Maggie can we talk. He said putting his laptop down. AM sorry am tired I said not looking back.
Are you sure you don't want to hear what am about to say? He said in a flirty way advancing towards me. Yes,I said,more firmly. I'd rather not hear what you have to say. With that I left him there standing and I rushed to my room locking the door behind me.
