“Wake up girl”, a deep voice said as Ada received a tap on her back.

She sat up and rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand. She then managed to stand up to her feet and she went down from the truck alongside other five girls of her age.

You girls should come over here to have your breakfast and let’s know what your fate decides for you in the next few hours.

The girls dragged their feet and the sound of chains on their legs could be heard far away. They went to the angry looking man to get their food.

They were given rice that resembled jollof rice or maybe coloured rice . The colour of the rice was not really defined but the nearest colour should be deep-brown. It was as if the ingredients of the rice were not enough or maybe the cook was just in the first step of learning how to cook jollof rice. The food was contained in a transparent nylon.

Ada collected the food without hesitation because of the condition of her stomach –she was very hungry – The other girls also collected their food but with frowned faces but speechless mouth.

They all sat down on big stones on the ground and they cut the nylon on the pointed part and started pressing the food into their mouths.

Ada’s face changed immediately she tasted the food.

“Jesus Christ!!!” She exclaimed.

“What on planet earth is this?” One of the girls asked as she chewed the food irritatingly.

“I don’t think there’s salt in this food; what do you think Chinyere?” Another girl asked as she faced the girl that spoke after Ada.

“Honestly, there’s no ingredient in this food”, Chinyere said frowning her face.

There were six girls in total in this dilemma. They were all probably of the same age because of their height

. They were all almost of the same height.

Chinyere was light in complexion and she was the liveliest of them all. And, she talks a lot. She was kidnapped alongside her best friend, Nnkenna who was also lively but can’t be compared with that of her friend.

Another girl was Sandra; she was beautiful but doesn’t speak a lot. She probably was still thinking of her friends and family. But the other girls had adapted to their current condition.

Okpala and Cynthia became friends in the cell back in the slave traders’ port. They were roommates and they were lucky to be bought by the same person.

---------------------

“Let’s forget about the food and let’s talk more about our condition here”, Okpala cuts in.

“Only God knows where on planet earth we are”, Ada said as she looked around probably to discern where they were.

“Who are these wicked people and what which type of conscience do they have….. How can they separate innocent souls from their families? Ada asked sorrowfully.

“Some people can do anything for money, my dear sister” Nnkenna replied.

“Do you think kidnapping is special to these people? She said as she frowned her face. “Kidnapping to them is like going to the office everyday” She added.

“No matter how you cry or shout, they will only tell you that you’re wasting your time”, Okpala said.

“My God will punish all these people, their friends and their families; idiots”, Aba said as she pointed her five fingers towards the men standing some metres away.

“See their big heads”, Ada added as the other girls burst into laughter.

“What’s wrong with that girl”? Chinyere whispered to the others as she pointed to Sandra, “she hasn’t been talking for a while now”, she added.

Sandra smiled ,“I don’t really have anything to say”.

“Come on, be lively; we’ll get through all these soon”, Nnkenna encouraged her.

Just then, one of the men approached them;

“Okay girls, let’s start moving”, he said.

“Where are we going please”? Ada asked curiously.

The man cleared his throat and answered, “To your new homes”.

“New homes?” They all echoed with confusion.

“Yes, and stop asking questions”, the man yelled at them.

“But sir, you haven’t given us water”, Okpala reminded the man.

“Swallow your spits”, he yelled again and walked back to the truck.

The girls managed to walk with the chains on their legs to the truck and it zoomed off immediately.
