Separated - Episode 16

 

Nkechi’s Dilemma

Nkechi was been punished by Sylvester as she always refused to have sexual intercourse with him or any of his men. She was been punished for three month. She was used to wash toilets for hotels every single day.

Sylvester and the other guys arrived at the front of a club house. He told the three other men, “Come on, let’s go in and enjoy ourselves, it’s been a stressful day”.

Sounds of hip-hop music and noise could be heard very loudly from outside . Nkechi wondered what this could be because she had never heard those kinds of music before in her life.

The men invited her to come along with them but she was too scared and she refused. Sylvester went straight to her and changed his tone angrily.

“Come down my friend and stop wasting my time”, he said yelling at Nkechi.

She came down from the lorry reluctantly and followed the men inside the club house. She became scared and irritated immediately she stepped inside the building.

The large room was dark with red and blue light all-over. Almost everybody was holding at least one alcoholic drink. Everyone was drinking and jesting all over. They were all manner less

. Dancers and strippers were at the centre displaying what they were there for.

Nkechi wanted to run back but she was dragged back by one of the men.

“Leave me alone, I don’t want to be here”, she screamed on top of her voice but Sylvester covered her mouth with his palm.

“Come over here, the party is just getting started”, he said.

“I don’t want to be here”, she continued screaming with tears all over her face.

‘’You must be here by force to learn and see what I bought you for”, Sylvester said as he offered a seat and ordered a soft drink for her.

“Feel at home and relax, you are going to be fine”, he said tapping her back.

Sylvester told his men to order for anything they want. They all went and took over six bottles of hard drinks each.

“Let me go and order for mine”, he said.

He stood up and walked to the counter and ordered for a packet of cigarette and three bottles of hard drinks. He came back and sat on his seat when…

“Boss, why did you order for three when we all ordered for six”? One of the men asked.

“I don’t want to drink too much today”, he said.

“Show us you are the boss”, two of the men echoed.

“Are you guys challenging me now again”? He asked smiling.

“Yes boss, we are better drinkers than you”, another said.

“Okay then, get me five more drinks”, he ordered one of the men.

“Now let’s find out who finish this drinks first among us all”, Sylvester said excitedly.

They all started drinking in haste and the gulping sound could be heard as Nkechi watched on knowing this was leading somewhere. They all drank to stupor and there was no one to determine the winner as they all drunk before even finishing their drinks.

Nkechi was very surprised and saw this as very good opportunity and she was determined not to misuse it. One of the men stood to his feet to pick another bottle but landed with a thud and dozed off almost immediately.

The others except Sylvester were dozing drunkenly already and muttering undefined words. He struggling with the last bottle and he tried to say some words to Nkechi but she didn’t understand any of the things he said.

He struggled with the bottle until he emptied the last drop into his mouth. He wanted to doze but hit his head on the bottle,

He groaned in pain before successfully finding a place to rest his head and he dozed off. The noise in the room didn’t interrupt their sleep by a bit. The drinks had really affected them that they forgot that Nkechi was right in front of them and observing them closely.

The key to the lorry alongside Sylvester’s wallet dropped from his pocket when he tried to change position.

Nkechi went under the table, knelt down and picked the key and wallet up quietly. Her heart was pounding very fast but she was able to crawl out of the table and stood to her feet and observed the men very well to ensure they were asleep.

When she was convinced by this, she walked out of the building and headed straight for the lorry. She then remembered that she doesn’t know how to drive. She took the keys and threw them into the drainage. She then opened the wallet and saw enough currency notes. She brought one of the notes and boarded a taxi.

“Where are you going miss”? The driver asked.

“To the hotel she said as she entered the taxi.

She was taken to a hotel where she ate and slept overnight.
