Separated - Episode 11
Ifeanyi's Dilemma
Everyone in the van had slept off except the driver who was engrossed with the driving already. Bob was fast asleep with the cigar in his mouth. The men at the back of the lorry were also sound asleep when Ifeanyi woke up.
He rubbed his eyes clearly to be sure that he was not seeing double. His hands and legs were tied up like that of a goat intended to be slaughtered.
He managed to untie himself silently and sat down thinking of what to be done next before the men wake up.
He stood to his feet painfully and tiptoed to the edge of the lorry silently. One of the men moved immediately and Ifeanyi stopped moving like that of a robot . The man only adjusted himself to have a more sound sleep.
Ifeanyi jumped down from the moving lorry immediately. He fell and injured his elbow but he endured it and ran into the bush. His escape would have been perfect but the driver managed to see him through the side mirror of the vehicle.
“He’s escaping”, the driver screamed as he stepped on the brake immediately.
“Who’s escaping”? Bob asked as he was struggling with his sleep.
“The boy has jumped down and he’s escaping through the bush on the left side of the road”, he said as he was pointing to the direction.
Whereby, Ifeanyi whose eyes were in contact with the driver through the side mirror ran back to the other side of the road when the driver was talking to Bob… thereby fooling the driver that he went through the left side of the road.
The men jumped from the back of the lorry immediately and started running to the direction the driver described to them. Bob joined them and they ran deeper and deeper until they started becoming tired.
“You all are dead if we don’t find the boy”, Bob threatened them.
“Spread out and let’s find this boy”, one of the men said.
They all spread out and combed the bush until they were tired.
Ifeanyi on the other side had ran out of breadth but managed to climb on a very tall tree and hid very close to the top of the tree.
The men came back to the lorry breathing very hard

. Bob was very angry
“What were you all three doing when he escaped”? Bob yelled at them.
“We slept off sir”, one of them replied.
“How can a guard sleep off on duty”? He asked angrily.
“We are very sorry sir”, one of them apologised but received a very hot slap as the response.
“Will your sorry bring him back”? Bob asked.
He went straight to the driver and questioned him.
“Are you sure he went through the left side of the road”? He asked curiously.
“I’m very certain sir”, he answered with his voice shaking.
“Come on boys, let’s check out this way also to be very that this man was seeing double through the side mirror”, he explained.
Bob and the men ran into the bush on the right side of the road. They were able to see traces of footsteps and an unclear newly made bush path.
“I think he went this way”, one of the men said as he concentrated on the bush path Ifeanyi made.
“Okay then, follow that bush path and let’s see where it ends”, Bob said.
They all followed the path until…
“I think it stopped here”, the man said again.
“Now boys, be at alert… the cunning boy could be anywhere around here now”, Bob said.
Ifeanyi could feel his heart beating very fast under his shirt but remained very quite.
“Spread out and check this place very well”, Bob said again but this time, yelling on top of his voice.
Ifaenyi was shaking out of fear until one of the men coincidentally looked up to the direction of his hideout.
Ifeanyi quickly hid under the leaves again until…
“I saw a movement up there”, the man said with certainty as he pointed to the direction.
The other men were coming closer and closer quietly until…..
