Redemption - Episode 26

 

Lucas:

  I can already feel a mingraine coming. I never thought professional nannies were this many in this city. The list Jake gave me of the nannies had just ten candidates but right now, I have not less than thirty women in my lobby applying for the job.
 I don't even plan to hire anyone of them but since the interview was already set, I am just enduring it but I have had it up to my chin with these people.
"Should I call in the next applicant?" James, my secretary asks and I nod nonchalantly.
"Don't worry, this one looks hot!" He chuckles before walking out.
  Why hasn't Benedicta shown up? The court order should have gotten to her house by now. I look down at my phone, as if she has my number . Why am I even bothered?
"Hello sir." I am brought back to the work at hand by a thin but lovely voice. My God! What is she wearing? Since when did nannies start dressing like sluts. I am very sure she isn't wearing a bra.
 I gesture for the lady to sit and she does eagerly.
"So what is your name and why should I hire you for the job?" I ask.
"Well. I am Hana. I will take care of you umm I mean of the kids really well." I look at her like she's crazy when I feel her hand creeping towards mine.
"I am sure you want to hire me." She says and throws a kiss

"I am sorry miss but Lucas is busy right__" I can hear James voice outside and I wonder who he is talking to. I don't wonder for long as my home office door bursts open and I see Benedicta's beautiful face. Did I just say beautiful? Get a grip Lucas.
 I relax in my chair and grin at her.
"Oh I am sorry. You have to wait in line like the other applicants. I am not giving you special treatments." I say cooly. She raises her brow at me before taking the few steps to stand in front of my table.
"Listen to me you bad luck magnet." She grinds out and grab my tie to bring my face closer to her.
"I need you to listen to this well." She says while I just try to stop he scent from saturating my senses. Gosh she smells nice. Like bananas and strawberries? 
"Sir? Are you okay? Would you get your hands off him!" I hear the lady who I already forgot was still in the room tell Benedicta. Benedicta let's go of my tie just to stare at the lady.
"Babe. Are you here for the stripper's job or what? Benedicta asks and it takes everything in me not to laugh at the expression on the lady's face.
"How dare you talk to me in such manner!" She barks. she's looking at me for support but I just relax in my chair and watch the drama.
"Dress how you want to be addressed ho. Now, get out. I have something to talk about with that idiot sitting there." She says and I chuckle. I am not even offended.
"Lucas?" The lady call on me and I shrug.
"Your time is up darling. You can leave." I tell her.
"What?! She encrouched on my time. Babe. I really need you. No. I mean this job." She tries to touch me with her really long nails but Benedicta grab her wrist.
"He said you should leave." She push the lady until she is out the door before slamming it shut.
"I wonder what they see in you! Gosh." I hear her say as she walks back to stand beside my table and I shake my head.
"I am a really great catch, you know." I tell her.
"Yea, a great catcher of bad luck." She spit at me. Oh this lady is just daring me. I am off my chair in seconds and trapping her to the table.
"What__wha__ what are you doing?" Oh. Lost your voice so suddenly?
"I am just showing you what kind of great catch I am babes." I tell her before tucking the strand of stray hair behind her ear making sure to graze her ear with my finger. I feel her shiver underneath my touch.
"Look at me babes." I say and like she's hypnotized, she does. Her eyes meet mine and our breaths are coming out in rapid bursts.
 I see her eyes move to my lips before coming back to my eyes. Damn it. I just have to taste those lips again.

Benedicta:

   No. No. No. He's going to kiss me. I can feel it in my bones. I can't let him. His head is coming closer but I can't blink from his stare. His breath in my face is soothing and my annoying eyes flicker close. I can already feel his breath on my lips. No, Benedicta. You can't be entrapped by another man again.
 "Get off me!" I yell as my knee connects with his nether region. Ouch!
"Arhhhhhh! What the___ sh*t sh*t sh*t! What the f*ck woman!" He barks all at once but I am already at the door. He's still nursing his injuries and I feel like laughing my ass out as he groans and cuss under his breath.
"Don't you dare send stupid court orders to that house ever again. That should teach you not to mess with me!" I spit out hurriedly before fleeing. I can hear him screaming for me to come back but I don't wait. I am out of the huge house in minutes.
"Wow, Benedicta. You keep doing crazy things around that guy." I tell myself. This better be the last time I see him. That court order can't possibly be real. I didn't assault or destroy anyone or anything. There's no evidence. I assure myself as I hurry down the evidently influential street.
"Hey!" I hear his familiar voice yell from behind me and I turn back to see his car speeding towards me.
"What's his problem?" I start walking fast but the car is by my side in seconds 
"Stop!" He yells but I don't listen. I keep increasing my pace while he drives beside me.
"Stop following me!" I yell at him.
"I am not following you. I am just driving down my street." He says and I shake my head. I stop walking and his car stops too.
"Well? Keep driving down your street then."
"Umm. I have to make a call." He says and brings his phone out.
"OK then. Bye" I say and continue walking. The annoying guy keeps on following me with his car.
"Okay. I am sorry for sending you a court order. It was stupid. I would drop the case." He says And I finally stop.
"You will?"
"Yes. But on one condition."
"I am not becoming your nanny. Choose from all those ladies who are still in your lobby" I tell him.
"I'll pay you."
"Yea. No chance in hell." I tell him. I start to walk on when his next words stop me.
"N200,000. Just for the month I will be needing you." My eyes go wide as my brain does the math on what that money could do for my plans to set myself up.
 Maybe I can still milk more money from him.
"Still no." I tell him.
"N250,000?" He asks and I can't contain my giddiness.
"Deal!" I squeal and he grins.
"I have a question." I say
"okay?"
"Why are you hellbent on getting me to be your Nanny?"
"Umm well, I just think I can work with you because you don't get fan girl starry eyed when you see me." He says and shrug. That's when it hits me. That is why I thought he was familiar.

. That girl in his office did call him Lucas. Is he the Lucas? The star making producer? 
"Hey. Now, you are getting fan girl starry eyed at me." I hear him say and I school my expression to look bored.
"Fan girl my foot. Are you even famous?" I ask and he chuckles.
"Here's my card. You are to resume tomorrow with your things." He says and I furrow my brows at him.
"what do you mean with my things?" I ask.
"Well you have to live in to get then ready for school and the rest. See, I have to go now, I have an appointment. Don't be late tomorrow. 7am." He says before pulling his glasses on and zooming off, leaving me stunned beyond words.
 What have I gotten myself into? I would be living with that bad luck magnet for a month? I could just back off but N250,000 is too much to ignore. If he's ready to throw money around, I am ready to catch it for him. There's nothing I can't handle. I am a mother.
